Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel is in serious need of update. Both exterior and interior are run-down, just like the neighborhood. The rooms have no exterior windows, there is only a window that looks into the interior corridor. They are extremely basic, but functional. The hotel is located within 20mins walk from major attractions, and parking is free. Can't complain there. The continental breakfast is worse than most other Choice Hotels.

I am not a bad review person but I'm annoyed enough to write one. Location is ok. Not the best part of town. A few places to eat but your a 20 minute walk to the market or other attractions. Room is standard. Very dated but clean. We expected this. Service is not the greatest. We asked for extra towels and it took over 24 hours to get some after asking 3 times. Breakfast included? That's what it says. But your breakfast is in a bag. A yogurt with no spoon and a juice box. That's it. I've had bag breakfast before but I got a yogurt and a muffin or granola bar and breakfast sandwhich with an apple. Don't advertise what you don't plan on giving someone.
Better places to stay.

Stayed there for a night while in Ottawa recently. Clean room with the basic amenities. It did however come with a microwave and a fridge. There was ample free parking space within the hotel's compound. A continental breakfast was served but don't expect it to be anywhere near B&B standards. Definitely a world away from hotel standards. In terms of location, it is a bit off the main attractions and shopping area but well within walking distance. Overall, a decent motel-style place. For a bit more money though, you can get a much more comfortable and conveniently located hotel in Ottawa. Not the best value for your money.

I have visited this property several years ago and it was really run down. But now there is no change. The rooms need to be painted as there is paint peeling off the wall! The check-in staff were really rude and didn’t recognize I was a choice member.

One thing I might add I don’t know if all rooms have been renovated and look the same as it’s a problem with some Econolodge hotels that every room looks different.

Room: I had a 2 queen bedroom on the 1st floor exterior corridor. The bed sheets were yellow and the room didn’t look modern at all there was mould in the bathroom and the floors didn’t look clean. The coffee maker was dirty and the coffee didn’t taste good at all. I didn’t enjoy the beds as they were uncomfortable the heater was so loud and smelt weird. There was no fridge or microwave in the room even though the guy on the phone said there is in all rooms.

Breakfast: I do want to say that the breakfast was a bit week and didn’t have much variety though. I think the rooms should get newer coffee makers and better coffee and the amenities in the bathroom were a bit cheap.

Overall my stay was very miserable and was not up to my expectations of any hotel budget or not. I would stay away as this isn’t even my a good deal! Unless changes are made I will not be staying here!

Spent an evening here - guy at front desk tried to swipe my card in his machine 30 times and asked if I had another one to try so I went through my bag to get my other card and he then said "oh it worked".

12 days later the charge for the room was still sitting in my pending transactions then all of a sudden i have $700 in charges for an escape room 10 minutes from the econolodge and $350 in charges for the H&M 5 minutes from the econolodge.

I live six hours away, dont know a single person who lives in Ottawa and this place is just sketchy.

A disastrous stay on every level maybe except the location not to far from Parliament Hill but the neighborhood is still not brilliant . A dirty and smelly room , locks do not operate very safely , the chain should break by pushing hard on the door . The hairdryer electric plug was burnt and was covered in hair , yuck! On top of that I booked two rooms for a one night stay with choice hotel reward points but the clerk at check out who did not seem to know anything about the hotel business wanted to charge me for the two room stay ! I sent emails to the hotel chain customer service and to the hotel management but no news until now ! Avoid ECONOLODGE OTTAWA at all cost when visiting Canada’s Capital !

My partner and I stayed here for only one night and thank god for that.
We woke to bites all over us, BEDBUG BITES.
There was a note in reception for guests saying that construction will start next door, at 8am and an apology for any inconvenience. At 6:50am-6:55am however, we were woken by the construction site, which was right next to our room. When complained about the sign being incorrect, we instantly got dismissed, no apology or acknowledgement, instead confronted with rudeness.
The bed was sunken in the middle and uncomfortable. You also couldn't turn the heat off, so our room was uncomfortably hot and dry too.

The only good and best part of this hotel is its location. It's even too good for this price. The second good thing is the fridge and microwave in the room, I didn't expect that.
But the rest of our experience was negaive.
Minus one star for the extremely slow reception service. We were waiting almost half an hour just to check-in, while the reception guy was very sluggish with the other clients in front of us and casually chatting with someone on the phone.
The breakfast was scheduled till 9:30 am, but at 9:10 am there was literally nothing left. Just completely empty trays!
Wi-fi was not just "poor" but below that. Yet receptionist at least found the courage to inform us about that. Basically there was no connection 80% of the time, the signal appeared in the late evening hours only and was very weak.
But the last straw came when I called to the reception desk the day after my check-out because I thought I forgot one piece of clothes in the room. And guess what? They told me, they DO NOT have any lost & found, and whatever is discovered in the room goes straight to the trash! I can't believe it, I have never seen the hotel with such a sick and inconsiderate policy!!! So even if I'm wrong and I lost this item somewhere else, good to know that the hotel doesn't care about your stuff at all. So basically, whatever the cleaners have found after you it's theirs.
So thank you for this "amazing" policy. It's alone is enough reason not to select your brand ever again!

I booked a room at this hotel for summer 2024 (july). I received a message from them that they could not process my credit card. I had also booked accommodation elsewhere at the same time. There was no problem with the credit card. I got the impression that either they want to charge for the reservation before arrival (it was supposed to be in mass at the hotel) or they are trying to steal my bank card details. As security is paramount, I cancelled the reservation.

I was promised a room. My credit card kept declining . I called hotel 3 times that day as I was driving from 5 hours away, which is made clear to the hotel clerk I had spoke with. She told me my room was on hold for me and that I could make cash deposit since it wasn’t going through with credit. They told me no record of the women I talked to . They referenced how my room credit card got declined. Made no attempt to call. Terrible terrible people.

Hello, I could not find my e-mail address for the Econo Lodge, but I did find one for a contact at the Marriott Courtyard....reasonably priced alternative with far superior surroundings. Try writing to me at my e-mail address....just google my name and you'll find my Georgian Bay website and you can write to me through it.
