We both are in our seventies and this was our first trip in years. Our first 5 minutes at the check-in did not go well at all as the young lady said she didn't have our reservation. As I had read some of the hotel reviews previously I asked for the manager Yannis, he immediately put us at ease saying that there will be no issue with our reservation, he then helped us carry our bags from the car to our upgraded suite, an hour later we received a gorgeous dessert compliments of the ARC Hotel.
The room was spacious with a king-size bed and duvet, a large window overlooking downtown that could use a good cleaning. Underground parking was safe with great lighting and only $20.daily which was a bit lower than the public parking down the street.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to spend one more day site seeing. Come checkout time I went to the garage to get my vehicle...but...it wouldn't start, once again Yannis came to my rescue by calling the electrician who gave me a boost. Again, with our age, Yannis made all the difference to us having a wonderful safe stay at the Arc Hotel. Thank you, Yannis

Liked the location and price but they need to put current information on their site.
The restaurant and bar were not open.
While they have parking at $25 per day, the free parking is on the street starting Friday at 5:30pm until Monday morning at 7:00 am. So if you are not their on a weekend you pay for parking either with them or in the public lots.
They do not offer daily room cleaning unless you stay for more than 2 days and you must request the service 24 hours in advance and I assume this is because of covid
When you check in there is a $75 per day refundable charge added to your bill for security reasons
This all needs to be explained on their website for clarity and to allow you to make plans for any dining or transportation needs you may have or want to do
The staff was very friendly and helpful allowing us to enjoy the time we spent in the city.
The 3 stars for cleanliness is because I found a used Kcup at the foot of the bed. And while the overall appearance of the room and bathroom was clean I had some reservations as to how well it was done. The bed is on a platform with no access to underneath but does over hang the foot of the bed where you would normally vacuum

I don't normally have a lot to say about the hotels I stay at, because I try to just pick something in a medium price range that has a great location. My best case scenario is that my hotel is safe and clean and I can remember nothing else about it. I will say that ARC's location was why I picked it, and the best part about it. My local friends were impressed I was staying here, so it seems to have a great reputation. But I'd say my overall experience was a really mixed bag with a lot of standout moments, where, like I said, I'd mostly want it to be pleasant-forgettable.

This was my first time staying at any hotel at all since COVID, and I wasn't sure how places are handling things globally. I realize it's tough and spots are probably down staff when they need it, and I like to think I am pretty realistic about my expectations. That said, I was really confused about the cleaning situation here, as housekeeping seemed to be by request only. Makes sense but was hard to put into practice. Twice during my weeklong stay, two different cleaning staff saw me in the hallways and proactively asked if I wanted my room done, which was very nice but also felt like a chance encounter that I'd have to run into them. Of those two instances, one person simply made the bed and folded the towels, when the other person did the full deep clean with garbage taken out, cups washed, toiletries restocked etc. I don't like to be wasteful so I don't need a full cleaning every day, I just couldn't tell the difference between when and why I'd get a particular type of service.

I felt the same way about the front desk staff. I encountered many workers over my week's stay and some were super helpful and professional and went above and beyond to help me out (mostly just me asking about attractions in the area and for suggestions on what to do) while a few others literally said "I don't know but you can Google it!" I was really shocked by this, again, because I was just asking things like what museums they'd recommend or where they recommended I stop for lunch -- nothing too wild, and of course I'd obviously Googled extensively before arriving! Just wanted to get a local's opinion. While some staff pulled out maps and had recommendations ready, others I would not trust to actually book me tickets or set up tours if I needed that service.

I'd also say that the room's walls were very thin and I could hear what my room neighbors were up to at all times. For a few hours a day, I was working and on conference calls in my room and I imagine that everyone on my floor could hear what I was working on too.

While we didn’t spend a great deal of time in our room over our two night stay, we appreciated the comfy bed and luxurious sheets, the bathrobe, slippers and self pampering bath products, and roomy fridge to chill our beverages. We were also very pleasantly surprised there was a corkscrew in our room to open the adhoc wine purchase we made on our short walk back from skating. And to warm us up, there was a nice selection of Kcups for the Keurig.

The gym had a good selection of equipment with plenty of towels and bottled mineral water. The bowl of Granny Smith apples was definitely thoughtful and a nice touch. Perfect after a workout!

Each of the valets provided excellent, professional service and we never worried about our vehicle.

The only thing I would have wished for was a bit more water pressure for our showers—not sure if this is an environment initiative?

This hotel is in a great location, but that's about all it has going for it. When we arrived, early in the day, the parking (which they call "valet", even though it's just you parking it in a lot) was already full. When we checked in, there was no soap, towels, or any of the basic toiletries that you'd expect, and their main phone line is down, so you can't call down. Extra towels are just dumped on a random couch in the middle of the lobby. Ice machine has no plastic liners available and is dirty. Worst of all - on our second day I pulled up the bed skirt to grab a dropped earring, there was a used condom laying on the ground. Upon further inspection, there was also a dirty used mcdonalds cup on the other side of the bed.
When we went downstairs to complain, it took an hour for someone to come to our room to chat with us, and we never heard from a hotel manager or housekeeping manager, though they kept promising they would call us. Apparently they were at a different site and a used condom on the ground of one of their rooms wasn't urgent enough for them. We asked for cups multiple times in our room, never got them. Part of our booking was to include a bottle of sparkling wine, never got it. This hotel is trash and would literally never stay here again even if it was free.

I was at this hotel for 3 days on business and won’t be back again. The heater, that turned on every 20 mins because it was winter, sounded like an airplane taking off right in your room- so be prepared to be startled awake relentlessly throughout the night.

The best part though, was the large garbage dumpsters that were emptied every day at 4:30 am- right outside the back of the hotel. Loud truck beeping, flashing lights, dumpster shaking, and all!!

I especially appreciated the hotels lack of response or care when I mentioned these issues on day 2.

So, if you want a sleepless stay in Ottawa- then this is the hotel for you!!!

The overall stay at the hotel was good. I was a little disappointed by the overall aesthetic of the hotel as the pictures advertised did not exactly match reality. The rooms were very clean though. The staff was also very accommodating, The rooms simply require a little uplift.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Amazing service with an amazing smiles. This hotel have beautiful service. specially Hany. Not sure what is his Job title at the hotel. Only saying that because I saw hany everywhere. Parking cars doing check-in serving us wine & hot chocolate helping us with our bags to our room gave us directions printing us important documents for our trip.
Our stay was fabulous room was clean and enough room for both of us.
I will definitely stay at this hotel again and I recommend it to anyone going on a vacation or a visit.

During our organization's stay at the ARC, the staff were always very helpful and kind during all of our interactions. Management also added some extra touches to make our block booking experience easy and adaptable during this difficult planning period (in the midst of a pandemic). If there was a challenge, they were always quick to assist and/or find the right person to speak with, so one always felt needs would be met.
The item that diminishes their "overall rating" from excellent, is their location in terms of accessibility. While it is indeed a great location in terms of proximity to downtown, there are huge accessibility challenges at this space. To get into any major space (the hotel itself, the restaurant, the bathrooms, or meeting rooms etc.), you will encounter stairs. So those attending with a cane, or facing movement challenges, will have difficulties because of the number of flights of stairs. Anyone with a wheelchair would certainly wish to choose another location.

Let it be known that staff were courteous and made themselves available to the individual with mobility challenges. They also offered a slightly more accessible room (but the bathtub sides still present accessibility challenges). Staff did briefly address this stair challenge at the time of booking. Those considering this space for meetings will want to thoroughly speak to attendees about what their accessibility needs are in full, while recognizing that the front steps are not the only accessibility challenge at play.

Overall though, the food was delicious, the staff is very helpful and kind, and we would certainly encourage others to stay here if accessibility is not a concern for them.

This property has a great location right in downtown. The rooms are quite spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. The washroom has nice fixtures and the amenities provided were good.

We were on a high floor so we didn't hear much noise from the street.

The staff was very nice at the front desk.

The only downfall is that you must use their valet parking which is quite expensive. It would be nice to have a self park option.

Would stay here again when next in Ottawa.

There's is absolutely no free parking you will find downtown (at least not for 5 days). You can certainly find cheaper alternatives with parking in the area (most parking lots and parking garages) tend to be cheaper
