Unfortunately the hotel is past its prime and absent a serious renovation and the neighborhood changing I couldn't recommend it. It is too bad because at least the pm front desk staff and all day bell people are wonderful and eager to help. We were in a king room and changed to a double-which was bigger and brighter. However both...

The Grand is nice and the service is good but we would have preferred to be closer to downtown. It is easy to catch a streetcar but it is not the same thing as being in the middle of the action. There are a couple of shelters closeby but we were never bothered by anyone. We used the spa on...

We had a two bedroom suite that was very nice with a small kitchen and living room, it was an end unit so had lots of windows, A very nice buffet breakfast all included in the price. Rather liked the idea they had a two hour free parking for someone visiting. Beautiful rooftop patio.

Not at all Grand ! nor anywhere near what's in the brochure, however it was impecably clean with efficient and helpful staff. Loaded with expectations based on reading the brochure, sadly it turned out to be a tired and bland hotel in rather seedy but safe part of the city. Our upgraded room was a suite on 2 nd. floor...

We had read the reviews for the Grand and although we were a little concerned about the location, we decided that the other qualities of the hotel (price, inclusive breakfast, leisure facilities & free wifi) were worth the 'risk' of the less conventional downturn setting. All in all we were pleased with our choice for our four night stay in...

We stayed there a Saturday until Tuesday for pleasure and work. Great value at 350 for a nice suit - not fancy but clean and functional. Was dog friendly as well and staff was super kind. Great breakfast included for all - so we felt good value. Great location to Eatons Centre, but would not feel safe at night on...

if you are looking for a comfortable and well located Hotel than The Grand is good option. The street it is located on is not the best in the downtown area but once you have walked a block or two over it all improves. The Hotel staff (especially the door staff) were very helpful. The breakfast was good with the...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand. It still has the elegance of days-gone-by. Guests might miss some of the modern amenities of the glass and steel hotels but the charm of this place makes up for that. It is in a central location with great public transportation available -- with easy senior-guest walking distance of the St. Lawrence...

My wife and I have stayed quite a few times at the Grand. We like the location, the rooms, the staff, the wonderful pool, and the breakfast buffet. Our most recent stay was still good, but it was noticeable that the price has risen steeply in the past few years, and it seemed to me too that the quality of...

We stayed one night for a wedding on the 18th floor south facing. The room was tasetful, renovated and very comfortable with a kitchenette and all the luxury ammenities. The rooftop has hotubs and amazong views of the city. Also breakfast was included which was buffet, but a well done buffet ..not the skimpy cheapo ones you sometimes get. Parking...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
