This is quite likely the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Very very clean, free breakfast till 1pm, laundry facilities available free computers and Wi-fi. What is even better are the staff. The friendliest and most helpful hostel staff I have ever met. They were always available to answer questions or provide recommendations for places to eat or things...

One of the hostel's biggest draws is its eco-credentials. Aside from that its still an above average hostel. The bunks were unremarkable, but the pillows well above average for a hostel. Rooms featured medium sized lockers (big enough for a day pack) with power points inside. plus bedside power points. Wifi in the rooms could be a bit spotty higher...

This modern hostel was a pleasant surprise near the University of Toronto. I arrived for the Pan Am Games, and all the city hotels raised their prices with thousands of tourists in town. So I tried this hostel which has modern style bathrooms, individual charging outlets in personal lockers, computer stations in the lobby, and rooftop social hour. I met...

Great common area, clean rooms and bathrooms, fun atmosphere. I'd definitely come back, the location is perfect as well. The staff is very good and the highlight: the barbecue on the rooftop with the CN tower as a view!

The hostel was very nice with a lot of amenities such as a good breakfast, kitchen with some free food and popcorn, very friendly and informative staff. The bathrooms seemed pretty clean but in our room we found some food on the window ledge and some hair and food on the bed under the sheets. I really think they should...

Nicest hostel I’ve stayed in Toronto hands down. Located close to Kensington Market (which I love), China town, and many other conveniences. I’ve stayed there a few times over the years and always found their staff to be friendly and helpful, I also found co-developer Anthony to be very approachable and hands on at keeping the hostel’s green technologies up...

Absolutely amazing hostel, clean and shiny, nicely organized with bathroom in the room. Very cozy common areas and rooftop patio is truly a gem! Very cool location as well in vicinity of UofT campus with lots of activities around and easy access to anywhere in the city with public transportation.

Ben, I believe his name was. He manages events with the Hostel. He got drunk and tried to fight me. I'm 18, he's in his mid-late 20s. When I disengaged his threat he walked around and talked trash about me to everyone he could find. I doubt anything will happen to him since hostels are usually fairly close-knit and his...

I am sorry you had an uncomfortable interaction. Ben is not a staff member. He was a guest. I asked him about your review. Apparently you asked him to buy alcohol for you but he decided against it after you were not willing to pay the price of your purchase in advance. It is extremely important to me that the...

Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, free wifi and a rooftop view of Toronto. What's there to be negative about!? Just DONT book through hostels.com (saying rooms are available when there isn't!- heard other visitors saying the same!) book direct ;)

Really great hostel with things going on almost every night. The bedrooms are a little small but comfortable. The kitchen is huge and well equipped and there is loads of free stuff which is great for travellers on a budget like we were! My friends and I had a disappointing experience with one member of staff who was a little...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
