The staff are friendly and helpful. You will find beautiful shops and restaurants within walking distance. The port is surprisingly quiet at night! This is definitely an area where you want to take your time and explore. Treat yourself to a tour of the Petit Dépanneur across the street from the hotel - then head to Les 3 Brasseurs for...

The staff are very friendly and helpful -- directions and suggestions on restaurants/ sightseeing or just asking how you're doing. The hotel is surrounded by lots of great food choices, a fairly easy walk to the subway or other spots like the Bell Centre. We had one of the small rooms and it was plenty big enough. Comfortable bed and...

Fabulous location in Old Town. On a quiet street and very comfortable. Restaurants, shops, and museums nearby. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to Montreal.

We planned a 3 night stay but, unfortunately could only stay one night due to family health issues. I have only positive things to say about this hotel. The staff is super friendly. (My sister twisted her ankle in the snow. Not only did they provide ice, but also a wrap to help stabilize it!) The rooms are unique and...

Complimentary (actually good) espresso, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and breakfast (including bagels, croissants, etc)? Free WiFi? Friendly advice on where to go, what to do, and what's good in Montreal? Good restaurants, cafes, and shopping nearby? Le Petit Hotel gets it all done. My girlfriend and I stayed at the hotel over our anniversary weekend ... and it exceeded our...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
