We purchased a groupon for our stay at Auberge de La Fontaine. The only negative I have is this - The photos on both groupon and on their website are just not real. The room we stayed in was the complete opposite of the photo we saw. The room was very tiny and you have to climb two very long...

I am reluctant to give Auberge de la Fontaine only four stars because it is an excellent hotel with staff who cannot do enough for you, but there were a couple of (minor) negatives, so I will get them out of the way first. The parking is a bit tricky due to the idiosyncrasies of the local authorities, although the...

Auberge de la Fontaine has some very small rooms & mine (#11) is NOT your best bet, but we had a lovely experience there because their two managers--Tarik and Jonathan--were exceptionally helpful. We drove to Montreal, so the first order of business was finding a parking spot.Tarik was on it even before we signed in. He found a street spot...

We had stayed at Auberge de La Fontaine many years ago and enjoyed it very much. I had remembered the beautiful park across from the hotel and wanted to see if my memories would stand the test of time. I am very happy to tell you that my memories were not only confirmed but enhanced . After a long day...

Dear guest, We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed your second stay with us at the Auberge de la Fontaine as well as your visit of Montreal. However the Fall is a beautiful season. You could admire the beautiful colors of tree leaves at the Park, just the right moment of the year to walk in it. We’re looking...

Auberge La Fontaine is a lovely, quiet, comfortable place to stay in the Plateau area of Montreal. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast is included and has lots on offer (muffins, croissants, yoghurt, fresh fruit, quiche, etc.). Close to Metro and bus and just a few blocks from good restaurants and shopping. We will go back.

Auberge de la Fontaine provides what I might consider a great European experience. The breakfast was really superior. Pastries, quiche, fruit etc. beautifully served. Others have mentioned the friendly and helpful staff. We confirm their positive experience. One thing for some to keep in mind: there is no elevator and the two flights of stairs are steep. Part of the...

The rooms are bright and clean, there's a kitchenette open noon to midnight for guests, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to eat and drink. It's a bit of a walk to the metro, but not too bad. Would absolutely stay here again!

I loved the location of this hotel because it was so French Canadian . It was about about 10 min. walk to Mont Royal Metro. The stuff was very helpful and very nice. Apart from a slight difficulty on arrival everything was wonderful. Even when the staff made a mistake it was rectified quickly and efficiently. The room wasn't the best but it was bigger than the one I had originally booked. The breakfast was amazing, the location was very good and the staff were fun and helpful.

As I've written at other times, we love staying at this charming small hotel. They provide incredibly personal service (like reminding you to move your car so you won't get a ticket!), nice homey comforts such as snacks, and all over fine service. The breakfast is excellent and plentiful. And of course there's the park across the street for strolling,...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
