We were stuck and couldn't find a vacancy in downtown Montreal. We found Hotel Ambrose and were lucky that we did. This hotel turned out to be a really good bargain. It's in an ideal downtown location with large comfortable rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a boutique hotel yet has many of the larger chain...

This pair of converted brownstone townhouses is a small, quirky, comfortable and ideally situated (within 2 blocks of Peel metro station) hotel giving very good value for money. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The only problem during our stay arose from the idiot guests (you know who you are) who were stupid enough to leave the shower running...

I must say - this place is old. And it looks it. There is no covering up that mess of dated decor and aged everything. I adore antique furniture, this furniture looks poorly kept and battle-worn. But let's move past that. The hotel is located on a hill and wearing our massive backpacks we felt every inclination as we trekked...

I traveled with a group of 6. We took one superior room and two economy rooms. The superior room is really spacious with old looking furniture, high ceilings and large TV. All other accommodations are very basic. The economy rooms are pretty small and it's our consensus that $13 more per night is worth for the superior room. Hotel appearance/atmosphere...

Perfect location in a nice brown-stone close to the University. This is a brief business trip, giving some talks at McGill and Hotel Ambroise seems the standard place for putting up academic visitors. The staff are very friendly and the wireless very convenient.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
