It is true, it doesn´t smell that good and needs a renovation, but it is clean and in a very convenient location. i stayed here in the middle of a very difficult personal situation and the staff became my angels. They kept me company, gave me the best advice, from where to get the best mobile phone package to french...

The hotel is a complete dump. Do not let pictures fool you. Three colleagues and myself stayed here to attend a conference at the expo center. The front desk is totally disorganized. They charge you for your first night a week before you arrive. What is that all about? I found out when I arrived. The place is in such...

As the title suggests, stay away from here if you want a peaceful sleep. I arrived there at 1:00am after travelling for 27 hours, as I entered the front door a woman who appeared to look like a woman of the night came in with a younger man, she must have had the room above mine because there was a...

If you dont mind staying in a hotel and being visited everyday by the police... As soon as i arrived there were police officers behind me to arrest a guy having drugs and who's heart had stopped. As for the room it smells like cigarettes it is clean but the bathrooms no, also dont be surprised by hookers and drunk...

I have read a lot of comments about this hotel and frankly, I arrived to it really worried. It is true that the hotel does not have elevator (as many hotels in Canada), and I had the bad luck to have my room in the third and last floor. I had to carry my luggage upstairs in a narrow and...

At first we were really nervous about that hotel, after reading reviews and because it was also very cheap. However, at first look everything looked clean and the staff was really friendly and welcoming. Although, when we came to our room we were shocked. Everything was smelling of cigarettes and there were burn-holes in the comforter. We literally got sick...

Was nervous about staying here after reading reviews but seriously we loved being here..loved the room - it was cute and had character. The building has been here since 1834 so don't expect the Hilton..there are constant repairs being completed on this heritage building. The staff were so friendly and helpful - that made it even better. For the price...

This hotel was infested with bed bugs when I stayed here in mid-July 2013. The staff admitted that the room next to mine had bed bugs the week before. Although they treated that room, the bugs obviously just migrated to the next room--mine! They needed to treat the entire building to take care of the problem. It was a terrible...

I was very worried about booking at this hotel after reading the reviews but the hotel turned out better then expected. I will say, you get what you pay for. Its nothing fancy. Its very dated. But its clean. The location is okay (super close to the Metro) but alittle bit of a rundown neighbourhood (aka not the greatest to...

If you have any concern for your well-being then please avoid this place. The sheets were dirty and the blanket had big spots on it. The sink in the bathroom was clogged at most times, the toilet had stuff from the previous guest I guess. Without doubt the dirtiest place I have ever stayed at, and I travel a lot...many...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
