This hotel is just steps away from great restaurants, attractions and the room was perfect. The staff was also willing to help with any request we made. The building is incredibly clean, very new and modern. The hotel is very secure as the elevator only moves if you have a room key. We visited with 3 children and would absolutely do it again.

As soon as you see the enormous bright blue entrance you know that this is not an 'ordinary' hotel. The young man on reception was very helpful and energetic, with very good knowledge of the local area, but be aware that he may have you booked in to restaurants and attractions before you know it. Best to listen to his suggestions, go to your room and think it through before going back to him to make the bookings.
The rooms are large, brightly decorated and very clean. The beds are very big. The room has a kitchen area behind what looks like a wardrobe door, useful to reheat a take-away or even to cook a meal. There is a Nespresso coffee machine with unlimited pods, so plenty of good coffee.
Breakfast is served in a box to your door during Covid, but only if you book direct with the hotel. As we booked with Expedia, we did not get this service. Currently the direct booking on their website is $30 CAD cheaper the the Expedia offer. A lesson learned.
The in house Cafe is close due to Covid, but there are items available from the fridge display at the Cafe entrance, pay at reception.
The bathroom has a lovely big shower, and twin wash basins
We were there during Covid restrictions, and found the hotel felt very safe.
Really we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and recommend this hotel.

We booked the Monsieur Jean without knowing much other than the location was right in the middle of old Quebec and the prices were right in our range. From the moment we walked in, the service and ambience were top notch, and really cool. The big blue door starts this great experience and everything from the staff, lobby, room, and service were top notch. We kept feeling like we had found a hidden gem. The room was spacious and had amazing views. The staff were there for anything we needed (even for an impromptu photo shoot of us one evening) and they took great pride in helping us and recommending great local places. They even provided great service prior to our arrival to plan for a special birthday weekend. Don't even hesitate to stay here and enjoy all that there is to offer. We can't recommend it enough and we will defnitely be back. Thank you to everyone for making our stay special, comfortable and charming.

Monsieur Jean is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location in Quebec City.
The good things:
Hotel decor and furniture is quite nice/high quality, both in the rooms and in the lobby.
Location is perfect.
Lunch in a box was delivered to your room in the morning.
Bedding is very high quality and luxurious.

Improvements needed:
Water pressure in the shower is low...hard to rinse hair of soap.
Makeup mirror in bathroom is poorly lit and ineffective.
General lighting in the room and in the bathroom is too dim.
We could have been informed at check in of the complimentary breakfast in a box.
We asked two separate front desk personnel to arrange for early morning taxi on our check out day. Since the second one was unable to find note of the first request I was sceptical of successful execution of the request. The second one again recorded the request and assured us it would be done. Upon check out we found that the taxi had not been ordered.
Front desk staff were pleasant with the exception of the person who checked us in, who was not reasurring nor appeared to care to arrange to have our room readied as quickly as possible in response to our early arrival.
There is a hand washing station at the front door, the drainage of which is into a bucket at the back of it. A little odd for such a fine hotel.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to write such an extensive review of Monsieur Jean hotel. We are certain that it will help other readers make an informed decision about where to stay. Thank you for all your comments, good and not so good. We need feedback in order to be better in the future, so it is greatly appreciated. In order to respect the environnement we have chosen water-saving shower heads. Depending on what we are used to it may seem like a low flow. All electric bulbs are LED and provide superior illumination, maybe there wan't enough quantity for you. We are truly sorry that there were confusion about your taxi for departure date. In fact the taxi were ordered but didn,'t show up, we learn it after you left. With the covid pandemic Monsieur Jean is the only hotel who provide stanless steel hand washing station at his entrance. Unfortunately we did not have plumbing to fix a real sink at our entrance. We choose a temporary solution to have the best covid protection standards for the best of our guest. We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future. Monsieur Jean team

Beautiful, clean room located right in the center of the old-city! We took the romantic package which came with a bottle of proseco, a bouquet of roses and a nice chocolate. The view was great, the bathroom was amazing , the small kitchenette was very well equipped even though we only used the nespresso machine (which made great coffee). The bed was super comfortable and the blinds stopped the light from getting in once closed. There was no parking at the hotel but it seems to be the norm for the old-quebec. There was a public underground parking (17.50$/day) just in front of the hotel which had lots of free spots.

It feels like stepping into a fairy tale! Like in the Tales of 1001 nights. What a fantastic hotel and decor. We loved everything about this hotel. It is so beautiful! The attention to detail is quite something. Everything smells like it’s new. We loved the fact that we could
open a window, the kitchenette, the Italian style shower, the recessed room which is away from the corridor. The bed was a bit soft for my taste (my partner loved it) although the bedding was crisp, clean and white and made you want to prolong the morning. The location was nice as everything was within walking distance.

Staying at this hotel in Quebec City was one of the highlights of my trip. The choices of decor were light-hearted but also sophisticated. My room offered a kitchenette behind a cupboard door with anything you needed to make a small meal or heat up something. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The room was bright and very quiet. The bathroom was huge featuring an amazing bathtub for a hotel. The lobby offered sitting areas as well as an eating area. I could go on and on. And all this for a reasonable rate. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel decor is avant-garde... but that's it. No staff, No service and no hospitality. My wife booked a supposed 390 sq.ft. Suite. Not big for a suite, but manageable. Turns out It's a 250 sq.ft. room with a view. for twice the posted $188 on trip advisor.
Every time we stop at reception to ask or have our towels changed, it's a 10 minute waiting because the counter rep is on the phone dealing with someone else's problems or taking another reservation.

NOT RECOMMENDED

Dear Mr Brown, We have chosen to call our rooms suites because they are luxurious and large, since we are open no one complaint abaout that. Also, this was well explained on the phone when your wife made the reservation with us. We understand that you had other expectations. We have staff in place 24 hours a day every day to respond to our guests' requests. In fact, our team strives to exceed the expectations of our customers. In the situation according to covid-19 that we live with a minimal occupancy the number of employees is relative to this situation. You picked the river view suite at the last floor and that's what you got. Classic suites with no view were probably available for $188 at the second floor. We understand that you will not be coming back to our facilities based on this experience. We are sorry that our accommodations or service did not meet your expectations. Monsieur Jean Team

This hotel is by far the best hotel where we have stayed during our recent travels across Quebec. The staff was helpful. THe room was huge and has a very large bathroom with a large shower and bathtub. Tastefully appointed. And is located In the centre of old Quebec City (across the street from city hall). The hotel gave a compete sense of privacy. And unlike must hotels during Covid, they actually delivered
Continental breakfast to our room every day. Management also emailed us every day to inform us that towels and other room incidentals would delivered every afternoon. Amazing hotel that definitely goes the extra mile in these crazy travel times. I highly recommend.

Decoration impressive and remarquable (lobby and room). Staff helpful beyond call of duty, William in particular. Breakfast box up to par. May I suggest you put up a parkig sign in front of the entrance zone so patrons can unload their luggages or inform us ahead of arrival that a cash parking garage is available on the second floor. Be assured we will be vocal ambassadors for Monsieur Jean and that we will be back whenever in Quebec City.
