More than a boutique hotel, Auberge Saint-Antoine is a window on Québec City’s past. Hundreds of artifacts from both the French and English regimes were discovered during an extensive archaeological dig on the property. In this unique contemporary space, the past has been audaciously re-interpreted for you to savour.

Stayed here for 6 nights over New Year’s Eve and New Years and into early January. We booked a room referred to as Comfort King with a view of St. Lawrence River. As we were checking in, the latest Quebec Government Covid restrictions and curfew were announced effective that day, so it was a bit unnerving time. The staff hotel were however able to install a restaurant table in our room the same afternoon (all restaurants in Quebec got closed for dining-in including those in hotels), so we could be eating meals in the comfort of our own room. The room was spacious and beautiful, with great bathroom, fantastic local refillable toiletries from Oneka Elements (was so impressed with quality that I’m planning to purchase some!). We also had a mini fridge in our room, coffee, tea etc, and plates and cutlery were replaced whenever needed. The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful, and the holiday decor at the time was very inviting. As for food, we tried their delicious breakfast and had small dinner one time (the vegetarian options were very limited, and we were also hoping to try some other local cuisine, even if only through take out). We also tried their messages one time, and their therapists were excellent. We did not have a car, and did plenty of walking in the area; the hotel’s location made it very easy to move around and when grabbing a snack, food, or going shopping. All in all, an excellent choice for our unusual vacation affected by curfews! Would highly recommend this property!

We stayed at the Saint Antoine for 5 nights beginning on Thanksgiving as we wanted to see Quebec City at Christmas. Our room was nice, not over the top, but it was very quiet. The bathroom was roomy with heated tile flooring, the bed was comfy. The hotel is nicely located for a walk to the Petit Champlain area. We felt safe walking in the area at all times. To get to the Christmas markets and many restaurants and sites, it was either a walk up way too many stairs or a funicular ride to the top of the hill. We took the funicular most times ($3.50/person). The hotel is located near the St Lawrence whereas the Chateau is in the uptown area. The Saint Antoine is nowhere near as busy with tourists and bus tours as the Fairmont, which we checked out. The concierges at the Saint Antoine were fabulous. We relied on their expertise for directions, tours, places to eat and they never failed us! The brunch at the hotel was delicious, a little pricey but worth it. We enjoyed our stay at the Auberge Saint Antoine!

Hotel is in a great location in Old town steps away from all the attractions and to the furniculaire for upper old town (or the steep stairs). Staff are very attentive, friendly, and had my name down by day 2. All to be commended!! Check in was effortless and they actually called when room was ready early (not just say they would)!! Love the architectural aspects of incorporating all the old finds into the structure and each room. Also used the gym and it's the largest, best equipped and best designed gym I've been at. Also liked that they offer choices of housekeeping that reflects current COVID conditions. I liked their choices.

My room was King with river view. It was very large and indeed have a clear view of St Lawrence (so not another marketing scheme). Had a huge long desk, sofa (not very comfortable one), coffee table, nice large closets and bar area for coffees etc.
Bathroom is where they lost 1/2 star as it was tight (very disproportional to the rest of the room), and the tub is very narrow and short. I'm 5'10 and the only way to soak is sit up, so forget it if you would like to share the tub with your significant others. It also occupies the same "shower stall space" as the shower, thus leaving the actual standing room for showers to be a narrow strip. Adjusting water temperature also takes a lot of guess work. Finally the other 1/2 star was lost on the small things: 1) red phone message button blinking but no messages..called and a tech was dispatched supposedly, except never arrived 3 days later so had to cover it up to not have a red light on while sleeping; 2) TV was very tiny in such a huge room, such that sitting on sofa or bed you would have to squint to see it..these days with cheap TV prices it's no excuse; 3) bed was very soft and not great for bad backs, 4) housekeeping didn't even see that several packs of sugar for coffee was ALREADY ripped open and even picking it up made a huge mess.
All small items, but at this price point it is the small stuff that distinguishes you from others.
All in all would consider staying again but only if some of the matters are fixed given the price point

We just got home from a wonderful weekend at Auberge Saint Antoine. We had a beautiful suite (chambre du capitaine) with vaulted ceilings and beams that was rustic and very luxurious at the same time. Our suite had two bathrooms, and each had heated toilet seats, which was a novelty! Because restaurants in Quebec City are only open for take-out, we ate all of our meals in our suite at the hotel. We tried almost everything on the menu. The meals and the service were excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed them! It was a super relaxing weekend and we got the R&R we desperately needed! The location of this hotel is fantastic for wonderful walks. I also had a 90 min massage that was wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel and its services, even with the pandemic restrictions, which says a lot! The attention to detail and high quality products at our disposal were impressive. When I put on the bathrobe, I realized that it was superior quality to any I had ever used before. I highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. You will love it!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Auberge Saint-Antoine. We booked the hotel through the Fine Hotels & Resorts by Amex and when we checked in they upgraded us to a king room with terrace. It looked out to the St Lawrence River which was really beautiful! The bathroom had a heated toilet seat, heated floors, and a huge soaking tub (plus shower). Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant there (Chez Muffy) for dinner - it is SUPER fancy (over $100/pp and a set menu when we visited) and was booked up for WEEKS, so if you want to eat there make sure you make a reservation when you book the hotel! We were able to eat breakfast there both mornings at Chez Muffy and it was delicious. We also grabbed a couple of drinks and dessert at the Artifact bar which were really good. The concierge was really helpful for making dinner reservations (you need a reservation for everything!) and everyone was really nice. We would absolutely return to this hotel!! It was also in a perfect location off the super touristy old Quebec City but central to walk there (5 minute walk). We loved our time there and can’t recommend enough.

We stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite overlooking the interior courtyard. It was a very nice stay, and quieter on this end of the hotel in the lower town of old Quebec. The room had a living room, which was nice to relax after walking all over for hours and a small patio. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Matthew (valet), another valet and the concierge. The location of the hotel was close to the attractions (funicular and stairs to walk to upper town, Fairmont Le Frontenac, place royale, shops, restaurants, Citadelle, port and river, etc.) At the hotel we enjoyed breakfast one day at Chez Muffy, enjoyed a private movie in the hotel’s movie theatre with popcorn (both complimentary), and liked the turn down service with music played in our room upon return to the room with refilled drinking water and mini chocolates. The hotel seems very safe due to having to use your room key card to ride the elevator to your floor or down again, and it is also eco friendly in that you need your key inserted in your room wall to turn on the electricity/lights and there is recycling in the room (1/2 of trash can for this). Upon checkout, we were gifted two homemade cookies. If we ever return, we will stay again.

Our two-night stay at Auberge Saint Antoine was marred by a total lack of housekeeping staff. Our early check-in (benefit of AMEX Platinum) was delayed until after guaranteed check-in because rooms were not available.
Several customers were having meltdowns in the lobby over waiting for hours for rooms.
No housekeeping service was provided for the second night and we were forced to track down staff to procure fresh towels.
When I discussed the housekeeping issue with the front desk they blamed lack of staffing.
While I understand the lack of staff, I would have preferred the room not be let to me if it could not be serviced. I feel that the Auberge Saint Antoine sold me a service and experience that they failed to provide.
What could have been a wonderful experience was ruined by lousy service.

When it comes to hotels, I feel my opinion matters since I started a hotel company 35 years ago and piloted my wife and me literally around the world staying in only 5-star hotels in 38 different countries. There is a sense that one gets when you know superior expertise is in play and management and ownership has taken their time and attention to make sure no compromises are made and no corners are cut. Auberge Saint Antoine hits that high standard at every turn, from the heated bathroom floors to the exquisite artifacts curated around every turn. What struck me about this visit( our second) to this jewel was perhaps the greatest service coupled with the greatest breakfast offering in the most beautiful room my wife and I have experienced in our travels. From the pear smoothie shot served as a little lagniappe in between your orders to the great pride and well-trained and sincerely hospitable service by Melanie. If breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it is with my wife and me, then you will see a distinctly new standard set by the setting and staff at Muffy's.

This is a great place to stay in Quebec City. Our room was quiet and clean and the staff was great. The hotel wants guests to stop at the front desk to request to have the room cleaned, which is unusual, but someone flying in from overseas wanting sleep during the day would love this feature. The restaurant is excellent.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Auberge. I have very mixed feelings about this review because the front desk, concierge and bell service staff were great and very friendly and helpful. But there were a number of negatives:

1) We arrived at 3:30 and check-in was at 4. We were told the room would be ready in 30 minutes, but it wasn't until 4:30 (they did give us a couple of drinks while we waited).

2) We had a balcony suite which was overall quite nice (the bed was a bit uncomfortable, we thought). Although it was a pretty good size, strangely there was no bureau or any drawers in which to put our clothes (only 2 hanging closets).

3) The first morning I put the "please service" sign on the door and the room was serviced properly. I did again the 2nd day, and when we returned in the evening it had not been serviced. I called the desk and they said you have to ask. OK. That evening we had friends over for drinks and snacks so there was some cleaning to do and the trash can was full. The next morning I called to tell them we wanted service and that we would be gone for hours (this was a 10 AM) (I also put the Service sign on the door). We returned around 4:30 PM and the room hadn't been cleaned. They did send someone up, but we wanted to rest and shower before dinner which we were unable to do (they did buy us drinks again, but that really wasn't what we wanted)

4) This is a little picky, but we wanted to have a dinner at "Chez Muffy" and the first day we asked to get a reservation for any of the 4 nights. We were told that it was fully booked. This is a little disappointing, and perhaps we should have reserved further in advance, but one would think they would leave some openings for hotel guests.

Overall, I would consider staying there again, but hope that they could get these issues resolved (I'm sure it is related to staffing issues which are ubiquitous these days).

I agree, I bet it would be magical. What a hotel. We were there in February for Winter Carnival. Very cold but fun, we know why everyone wears fur hats, that is a must, and easy to buy in Quebec City near the hotel. There is a furrier right across the street. We also made use of their lovely spa.
