Detailed Reviews
We spent two night at the Chimpanzee Guesthouse. When you first arrive, you see the mix of African experience with what feels like a very English garden, there are nice lawns and flowers, and monkeys and birds, there is a tea plantation, and the room we stayed in was a standalone "house" with comfortable beds, a great shower, all the amenities you need, and a very nice seating area in front where you could sit to watch the birds and monkeys/ The restaurant had great food and a nice ambiance, like most places in our trip (due to COVID), it was mostly just us, most of the times, and the entire staff made sure we had a perfect experience. Again, because of the pandemic, hotel staff wore face coverings and we were greeted with hand sanitizer and temp check. We had two free afternoons, one we just hung out and relaxed at the lodge, we also shopped at the craft shop. The second we opted for one of the activities they offered, a tree plantation walk. They connected us to guide who walked with us and told us about tea agriculture, history, culture, food and medicines of the region. It was a beautiful walk, and we learned a lot!
Would love to go back!

+1
We had stayed here before so booking was straightforward and an extra late guest was no trouble for them.
A lovely friendly place with just enough 'african' quirks to make it interesting and less band.
We had three of the small bandas for a party of 4 and each was furnished and equipped to a high standard. Good beds and a nice writing desk arrangement. All modern conveniences and no problems.
Emmy is a lovely lady and so helpful too as are all the staff Robert and others too numerous to name.
The grounds are lovely and very 'birdy'.
Meals are taken in the usual Lapa type restaurant/bar and whilst the evening meal is a fixed menu they would if asked cook something special should tastes dictate.
The food we had was to a very high standard and presented well.
Our second visit and certainly not our last.

This lodge was made of a lot of very great details. The garden is wonderful, water comes from the Crater Lake nearby without electrical or Diesel pump, warming it will make in special ovens using natural material- for each Banda an own one. The Bandas have a roof of gras, a separate large bathroom and an easy and beautiful furnitures and accesories. Surrounded by tea and coffee plantations, with ananas and banana gardens, and a direct view to Kibale Forest and the Frog Crater Lake, in the morning you can hear the Chimps and the Blue Turaco and the Hornbill are living around the lodge. If you have luck you can find also Ibis, Eagles, Grey Parrots. All is possible here :-) The dishes are very good, the wine and its price also. And not at least we have to thanks the great Staff. We love this place and will come back as soon as possible .

Like a few of the lodgings visited in Uganda, the rooms here seem to have been designed with size vice function in mind. Some of the errors in design are glaring. There are plenty of windows that can be opened, none of which has a screen leaving the choice of no circulation or a room full of insects. The light switches for the room are located well remote from the door. Outlets are not well placed. The stonework on the shower floor is far more decorative than comfortable. The mirror is located away from the sink. The mosquito nets did not meet properly, leaving a gap in coverage. Water pressure is low. It is not a problem now but if there is damage to the sink itself a large portion of the wall would need to be removed as the sink is built into it.
As most everywhere in Uganda the staff is most welcoming. The food is decent. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. For birders they are quite productive.

The lodge is built on a slope and overlooks the tea-hills across the valley. Each cabin (house) is set in absolute privacy and has its own terrace where you can unwind. Everything is kept spotlessly clean and the rooms are equipped with everything you might need.
Food is delicious and the service is absolutely great .
The flowering gardens are splendid and boasting with birds. It's one of those places you always will return to.

Large bungalows are embedded in large, well-kept gardens. There are flowers and greenery everywhere. Many birds come to visit the garden. Tea, vegetables, fruit and wonderful flowers grow right on the lodge grounds. You can take a guided tour of the gardens and learn a lot about the exotic fruit and vegetables. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food and service are extremely good. We were there for 2 days and enjoyed every meal. We also enjoyed the silence, the view and the quiet spot on the terrace. Highly recommended.

Had a tasty buffet lunch today, Sunday, with a group of tour operators visiting from Kenya. They all loved the views.
Thank you Nicholas (one of the owners) for showing us the self-contained cottages. The bathrooms are large and the stone-decorated showers huge. The bedrooms are colourful and cozy.
Chimpanzee Forest Lodge (formerly known as Chimpanzee Guest House) is a popular Ugandan-owned family business that has been in operation since 2004.
The gardens are beautifully looked after and full of birds. Grounds look out to Kibale Forest on one side, a small lake in one direction. Beneath them lies a tea plantation. In the other direction you can sometimes see the Rwenzori Mountains. This is a good base for chimpanzee tracking and five minutes from Isunga / Rweteera and approx 20 minutes from Kanyanchu. It's on the main road from Fort Portal.

Stayed here as part of a tour with another couple. We were in a very nice cabin up the hill (muddy walk up unfortunately) but lovely. Views and grounds were beautiful and food very decent indeed
The only sour taste was that we had specifically arranged in advance for power / generator overnight because one of our party had sleep apnea and needed a machine to breathe. No mention that this would be an issue. We reminded them when we got there, still no problem.
In the morning when we got up, we were asked to hand over $50.00 US “to run the generator”. As this was the only place in the whole of Uganda or Kenya or South Africa that this happened, it seems like opportunistic ripping off of the stupid tourists to me. I wouldn’t go back there despite the good things, because it felt like we were being exploited, because they could.
A bit disappointing.

Hello Mandy Greetings from chimpanzee forest lodge we surely regret on that it was a miscommunication from both parties but the generator issue is normally addressed in advance being that we are in a remote area. Our deepest apologies this will not happen again. Thank you.

This was my favourite lodge on our trip. I wish we stayed longer than a night.
The huts are spacious and comfortable. There are mosquito nets.
The garden is beautifully kept.
The staff is friendly and helpful. You can book a nature walk with a guide for 15 USD pp. The tour takes you to the volcanic lakes and around the community, we saw a few monkeys on the way.
We enjoyed the food. If you are vegan, don’t worry, the chef even presented us with different options to choose from. The portions are huge as always in Uganda.

Not needed it's super safe accommodation.
The owner rarely goes there and the staff just do not care. I wouldn't go back. Instead, try Ndali Lodge - Aubrey is fabulous and it is really lovely.
My stay was booked by my safari company but I suggest you email them for a quote.
