Hotel's Favourite
Review of the RIU Tikida Palace Taghazout. June 2023 Having just returned from 2 weeks in this hotel, I thought I would jot down a few notes, which are my own honest reviews. I am a mature lady who visited with a friend. We were not looking for much to do except eat, drink, relax and chat to a few other holidaymakers. We were not disappointed. Reviews have said that the buffet restaurant is very “samey”, but it is up to you to make different choices. Breakfast ranged from a “full English”, omelette station, yogurt/cereal/fruit, croissant and jam/chocolate spread, cold meats and cheese etc. So choose something different every day and then it’s not the same. Likewise in the evening, there is a good selection of food – lots of salads, a roast every night, but different meat. Pasta station. Different fish dishes. Pizza etc, etc. Again, make different choices and then it is not the same. We booked into the A la Carte restaurants on site and were thrilled with the food. The Moroccan restaurant offered too much food for me, so I just omitted one course. The Krystal restaurant was very different and although the choice was limited, what was on offer was superb. The Steak House was equally wonderful – I am not a keen meat eater so thought I would play it safe with chicken skewers which were fab, but my friend had steak which was cooked as per her instructions – med/rare. Several mornings we chose to go for a late breakfast (in steak house) – more limited choice, but still plenty to eat. The hotel is SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. The staff work so hard to keep it that way. The hotel rooms are spotless and the fridge was stocked with fizzy cans and water every day. There is a small safe in each room (you select your own number). The bar staff are always very attentive and will bring drinks to your sunbed if you want – always worth a tip – we gave 20 dirhams/ visit – but it is not compulsory or expected. The selection of drinks is good, but they are local. I understand that “branded” drinks are available – in the hotel bars - but we never bothered. There is a promenade that you can walk along to Taghazout, but we did not do this – so cant comment. A taxi drive into Agadir takes around 45 minutes again we did not do this, but if you wanted to go to Agadir to sightsee or shop, I would suggest that you contact Laura Time travel – via Facebook. She organises several trips and I have heard that it is value for money. We booked a private transfer with her from the airport to the hotel as it was late at night and we had spent a long time travelling – we were anxious to get booked in and asleep. We also booked a return trip, but actually, the coach would have been fine, as it was a late night flight -11.30pm. We were there for the last 2 weeks in June and the weather was cloudy most of the mornings, burning off by around midday. The average temperature was 27 degrees and very comfortable. The animation team work very hard to keep everyone entertained – day and night- and offer a full programme of daily events. I believe there are jet skis etc on the beach, but we did not go there. There camels and horses on the beach for a ride – again, no idea of price/time My only criticism is the hotel shop. The selection of Moroccan souvenirs is very expensive. There is only a very small selection of crisps/chocolates; you may not want these on holiday, but some people like a treat whilst away. The lady in the shop only takes Moroccan dirham and is very surly. We went in once, asked her the price of a couple of unpriced things, and she was really not interested. So we walked away without a purchase. OVERALL - if you are looking for a hotel that offers a relaxing holiday, this is perfect. If you are a family with young children, not sure this is for you, although there is the usual “Kids Club”. There is not much to do outside the hotel, so if you like to venture out, you may be disappointed. You can do a trip to Marrakesh, which is a great experience, but beware, it is a very long, busy day and not for those who have mobility issues, but worth a visit whilst in Morocco.

2nd time staying at the Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout which was just as great as the first. We had the same fantastic sea view rooms, which had been repainted since our first visit. Food was fantastic and plenty to choose from and also satisfied our vegetarian daughter’s taste. Staff were as attentive as our first visit and really do make the difference. We are looking forward to going back next November!

A group of 5 lads celebrating a birthday and the hotel couldn’t have been better! Was really impressed! From the food and choices and the entertainment and hotel grounds! All excellent! The rooms are very spacious and upto date! I really do not know how this hotel has been got bad reviews! Some people must be very very picky! The pool was heated and lovely to swim in! And this was November! The hotel was busy enough! plenty of sunbeds and day beds but the day beds do get reserved early so I would get to the pool early too. We do surf so Taggazout is a perfect location! Quiet area but tbh with the hotel you do really need to venture out and you do have a private beach area too! I will be coming back! Thank you Riu!

For us it was one of the best RIU hotels we’ve been to.The food was good and the staff were excellent always willing to help and very pleasant. There are a few areas that could be improved particularly if you are disabled. We found some of the steps didn’t have anti slip edging both outdoors and indoors. The entertainment could be better. Some of the furniture was a little tired.Overall we really enjoyed our holiday.

What an amazing place! We had a beautiful room, right on the beachfront, away from the main hotel, but just what we like! Hotel was immaculate, gardens were spotless and people always working on them. Food was great, loads of choice, managed to get into the 3 al a carte restaurants, food was good in all 3. Always managed to get a sun bed by the pool, in a nice quiet area, but close enough to still be a part of the atmosphere. The weather was perfect, bit of sea mist on the first few mornings, but this cleared by lunchtime, then clear blue skies! Jungle Bar is stunning, very well themed! Bar staff in there were always keeping us topped up! Evening entertainment was ok, but nothing special, could of maybe done with a few live acts being brought in, not just the reps miming to things, even though they were good. We came for a relaxing week away, and we certainly got it! Will recommend this hotel to everyone and the Riu brand, and we definitely will be returning! Thank you!

This is bt far the best Hotel we have visited, first time in Morocco and surely won't be the last. Visited as a couple for my husbands 40th and was 100% the correct choice. Three coaches full of people arrived late at night so you can imagine the sheer number of guests, however, check in was smooth, quick and friendly staff. The place looks exactly as seen in pictures but even better in person. The grounds are clean, modern and just beautiful, the entire hotel is stunning. Staff are all full of energy and smiles especially the bar staff, I've never seen such bubbley and cheerful bar staff (and we're frequent travellers). This looks and feels like a 5 star hotel. The infinity pool is lovely as are the other pools. Always managed to find a cabana bed. Food was the usual all inclusive stuff, huge variety but being Indian I'm used to spices n flavour which was lacking, however didn't bother us as we accept local culture. The Beach is beautiful and clean but you'll find dogs roaming freely - I have a phobia so that didn't sit well with me. If you walk about 10-15 min to the right from the beach, you'll get to their local village, with a few souvenir shops and food places, prepare to haggle. Overall, amazing experience and would definitely return to this hotel, isn't called 'Palace' for no reason. Thank you Riu for our memorable stay.
