Excellent food breakfast and evening lots to choose from on menu . Owners are really pleasant and chatty. Great place for weekend break. Room very modern. Would recommend for reasonable prices. Close to ratty and hard not to. We went to derwentwater and hoisted took 45 Minster but views on way amazing.

As I live local we decided to pop in again for our tea. This time I ordered the steak burger and my wife the vegetarian curry. After ordering food we had a couple of drinks before our food arrived, At the bar was a couple of local Cumbrian ales which we had a sample of, Bombardier and hobgoblin gold both... More

My husband and I wanted some peace and quiet and that's exactly what we got. Excellent facilities! Restaurant was reasonably priced, and food was well cooked. Staff were well mannered and friendly. Had a bit of trouble with the radiator on the first night but owners were quick to act on it and got it sorted in less than 10... More

This hotel is in a superb location right on the sea front with gate from the large garden to the beach. It is a building of great character with many original features. The restaurant, La Vista is fabulous with sea views.

We have stayed in Calder House many times. Andy and Steve are constantly upgrading the rooms. It gets better every visit. The bar/restaurant is very smart and comfortable. The staff are always helpful and welcoming. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

My husband and myself booked for a weekend away, we are pretty easy going people when we stay in hotels. But that was the problem.... it wasn't a hotel ! It is a b&b and looks like something out of a museum!! Don't be fooled by the photographs, the bedrooms are tiny, the decor is cheap and the en suite... More

Had a weekend away at this quaint hotel in Seascale. There was nine in our party and took up four rooms, each room was decorated differently. They were all clean and comfortable. The ones at the back of the hotel had a wonderful view of the beach. Even saw the Isle of Man off in the distance. The staff were... More

Have had dinner here 5 or 6 times on our visits to western Cumbria. Always had a very pleasant evening with excellent food. There are great views across the Irish sea with some spectacular sunsets. If your in this area would recommend you try this restaurant but as it is popular you should phone to make a booking.

Having had to book a quick overnight stay this came up as my best priced for the night. On arrival I wasn't too sure but this could have been because of the night time arrival which didn't make it look great initially. What then made me fear the worst was that i was in the annex which meant i had... More
