You couldn't pick a better spot in Pavones. Incredible views, monkeys everywhere, fun community area with BBQ. The fridge is always stocked with cold beer on the honor system. Rainy is an awesome host and always ready to enhance your Pavones adventure. Can't wait to go back.

Tranquillo all the way. Hillside spot with a million dollar view through lush jungle to the ocean below. The proprietor (Rainy) can be counted on to be friendly and helpful. The rooms (including kitchenette and bathroom) are comfortable and clean. All this makes for an even easier appreciation of one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

We loved Lanzas de Fuego. We stayed in one of the bungalows and had a lovely view of the ocean from our terrace. Montanna and Sheldon - our hosts - were kind, warm and welcoming and made us feel at home at Lanzas. We had lots of fun hanging out with them during our stay. We went out surfing with Sheldon a couple of times, had a bonfire and BBQ and even enjoyed a chocolate-making-class with the both of them taught by a local which was such a fun experience. The place is a little hard to reach, because it really is up there in the jungle, but it's not problem with a 4x4 - and it has its perks because you get to enjoy peace and quiet. There's tons of animals around - we had groups of monkeys coming by our bungalow (mostly in the mornings and evenings) which was fantastic. The bungalows are spacious and comfy and provide everything you'll need. Also, they have the cutest dog on the planet - Talulah, a black Labrador-mix which is such a kind and playful soul. She made our stay extra special and we miss her a lot :) All in all, we'd definitely be back!…

We were greeted with welcoming smiles and great South African hospitality. Our room was nestled in amongst the jungle with a banana trees and palms right outside. As morning broke the local toucans and monkeys paid a visit and down at the beach the surf was looking good. The most relaxing place my partner and I have stayed in whilst in Costa Rica.

If you love nature & want comfortable accommodation in beautiful surroundings, yet close to everything in Pavones, this is the place for you! Rainy and crew made us feel very welcome and at home even though we are not surfers. They were quick to respond to anything we needed. Even though his boat I was in the shop, Rainy lined up a fishing and sightseeing trip for us with another operator. Lanzas is in a jungle-like setting so there is plenty of wildlife (including bugs) but we did not find any in our room. The AC made sleeping very comfortable. The highlight of our trip was Rainey's surf lesson. He was able to get a couple of 55 year old wonen standing up on the surfboard and riding waves during the first lesson! He was an excellent instructor and made us feel very comfortable. We will definitely stay at Lanza's again.…

This lodge is nestled in the jungle yet a 10 minute walk to the beach. The cabina we stayed in "toucan" had beautiful views of the distant mainland and the bay. The cabina itself was comfortable and airconditioned, with a double and single bed, bathroom with basin and large shower with hot and cold water, a kitchen with a fridge, stove, coffee percolator and washing basin with hot and cold water. It is fully stocked for self catering. The sounds coming out of the jungle were amazing. Every day was an adventure with different animals and insects being seen and heard. While there we saw Howler monkeys, Spider monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, Armadillos, Toucans, Scarlet macaws, Jesus Christ lizards and on our drives we saw Sloths in the trees and lizards running across the road . We also witnessed whales jumping in the bay as well as flocks of Pelicans. Rainy the owner of the lodge was most accommodating, always being on hand to assist and give advice on where was best to go to surf, see animals and eat out. Socializing in the Rancho was special. This is the the place where a good drink is had and story told. Really a homely place. Our 2 week stay was amazing thanks to Rainy, Sheldon and Tan.…

We were told about this place by other travellers who had stayed there and it didn't disappoint . Set in the jungle on the side of a hill with fantastic sunset vies over the ocean. This place is very private and quiet. The Villas are complete with kitchen facilities , air-conditioning and private bathroom. It has a great communal area and the Host Rainey can't do enough for you and has his finger on the pulse of everything to do in the area. It is probably an good 10 minute walk down to the main surf beach. And its great to finish the day with a cold beer in the hammock on your porch looking through the jungle canopy out to sea after a day of activity , surfing or just relaxing. Free Wifi was only available up in the common area.

Stayed a few days at the big house and had a great time! The owner, Rainy, would always check to see if everything was fine with the accommodation and our stay and so did the friendly dog Talula. The house was full equipped and had plenty of room! Definitely a place to come back. Cheers from Brazil!

I didn't realise how much I needed my holiday until I got down to Pavones. Was looking for some R&R with a bit of adventure and boy did this place deliver. Lanzas de Fuego is nestled up the hill in the jungle still providing you with ocean views. Just a short walk to the beach you really do get the best of both worlds and there's always a surprise in store in the trees on the walk to and from the beach. Monkeys, sloth, butterflies, birds and of course Talula the dog. The accommodation was perfect, clean, hot water and a/c if you really cannot bare to be without. A hammock with ocean view and the little kitchenette in the cabana has everything you need. There is also a Rancho with ocean view and a fire pit so everyone can relax and mingle with other guests. It also has good internet. Rainy was an exceptional host, with so much knowledge of the area and really goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable , happy and having a good time. He will arrange whatever you need to tailor your stay to you. "Rule number one, must have fun!" After my week there I really did not want to leave this little slice of paradise I've been to Costa Rica 4 times and this was by far my favourite spot. I will definately be returning and I will definately be staying at Lanzas de Fuego again. Thank you Rainy and Talula…

If you are looking for some serious rest and relaxation then this is the perfect place. Set in the jungle but a short walk to the beach, great waves for surfing, hiking, horse riding or just chilling in a hammock and reading a book........while the wild life passes by. Rainie the host is fantastic, super helpful and has managed to create a very tranquil oasis. The accomodation itself is really clean, simple but certainly not basic. I can not wait to return!!!!:)
