We have just spent nine nights camping with our van on a pitch with electric hook up, as returning customers. Just driving onto the site, we felt all the stress of the past year fade away. The owners are wonderful hosts, always ready to share their knowledge on the local area with a laugh and a smile. They’ve created something very special at Lee Meadow-that perfect balance between the natural vibe and providing those elements that make it a trouble free holiday; hot, powerful showers, clean toilets, spacious pitches and a superb farm shop providing fresh produce and pizzas baked on site each evening. The lack of surrounding lighting made for a spectacular star show and the distant sound of sheep and the sight of a hovering kestrel, made us feel a million miles from Essex. With direct access to a network of footpaths and the Tarka Trail, this location is a a paradise for ramblers and cyclists. We love this site and will be booking a return trip next year.

We had a fantastic short, last minute camping trip here, after searching for a pitch it turned out they had decided to open for the month of August and we managed to jump in and boom a pitch before they all got snapped up, yes it was busy but not overly noisy plenty of space around tent and the facilities were top notch (all looked newly refurbed)
Stone baked pizza in the farm shop daily from 5.30pm which was a bonus, hot breakfasts and food and snacks available all day and plenty of fresh produce available to cook back at the tent without the need to travel off site to grab bits and bobs.
Social distancing measures in place and being followed by most.... hand sanitiser everywhere on the site and individual bottles in each loo and shower which was good.
All round a great camping trip despite the rain we still had a great time and will 100% be returning with friends next year!
Thanks to the staff for being so helpful with directions and places to visit, cycle routes to follow etc. Was nice for them to have time to talk to us individually despite a very busy check in desk!
See you soon!

We only stayed two nights, not the fault of the owners, but the weather was bad, and we're lightweight campers.

The staff are all very friendly, and extremely helpful, and the pitches are spacious so, although it was busy, it never seemed too crowded, though the showers could do with being cleaned more regularly.
However, one of the things that attracted me to this campsite was that the information online says there is a restaurant. My understanding of a restaurant is somewhere where you sit inside and order a meal. This was not the case. Food is ordered to a strict time schedule and then either eaten outside on one of their tables (not to be recommended in the rain), or taken back to your own tent. And the only meal choice of an evening is Pizza, and a few nibbles such as tear 'n' share garlic bread, onion rings cheese bites.
None of this would be a problem if it was made clear on their website, but we arrived fully expecting to eat in their restaurant each evening.

For my daughters first camping trip/ grandads birthday we decided on a quiet location not far from the beach. The campsite it’s self is beautiful, however the organisation of the campsite is awful.
When booking we were told that we could only have two adults per pitch (we were a family of 6 adults & 1 baby) so we booked 3 pitches. When returning from the beach our pitch had been taken by another family who were instructed to go where they liked. That pitch was for our cars, table, chairs and my daughters play tent/ toys which were packed away due to heavy winds.
When the camp owners were addressed with this information they did not have a care in the world. Not even an apology, let alone a refund for the pitch that we payed for but could no longer use! They simply said if we wanted to keep it, we should have left something on it. We were not given any of this information when we arrived and were allocated those three pitches together (as requested when booked). The owner showed us to our pitches and was very clear that they were our pitches.
The no loud music/ noise rule was out of the window, the water pump was not working and as an outside viewer it is only about the money, not the care of the customers.
I will not be returning and I will certainly not be recommending to a friend.

Good facilities. Enjoyed the breakfast at the farm stop, good vegetarian sausages. They spaced the tent pitches out nicely, so it felt very spacious. We hired the bikes for £20 full day and cycled to ilfracombe on the path that’s at the entrance of the site. We didn’t try the pizza from the farm shop but we went to the Fortrescue for food which is just a short walk from the campsite and nice enough for an evening meal out

We stayed here to do Croyde Triathlon in July. Whilst the weather wasn't perfect, the rain didn't damped our experience. Actually the worst of the weather was during the night and during the triathlon.
We stayed with 2 other campers / competitors and although we had non electric and they had hookups, we were all able to get quite close to each other. We were also joined by some other friends for 1 night that had come along with their motorhomes to celebrate one of the paties 50th Birthday.
The owner was very welcoming on arrival and informed us of all the facilities on site and let us choose where we wanted to pitch the tent, which was really nice.
The facilities on site were excellent. The toilet blocks and showers were impeccably clean ( I did get mistaken for the janitor when I cleaned the floor up after my shower in my hi-viz raincoat - they are that clean I couldn't leave puddles on the floor.)
We met some really nice people on the site as well. The site isn't restricted to non families, but there are limited family facilities / activities for kids, so most people were there either as young couples or older couples. The Euros were on, and even though England won their match the noise the night before the triathlon (5am get up) wasn't too bad.
The food from the shop / cafe was lovely huge breakfast, great sandwiches. Unfortunately they weren't doing the pizza whilst we were there. But maybe when we go back we can try them.
We'd taken our own bikes but they have a great setup for bike rental with all sorts of options.

We spent a week here and could not recommend it more. The allocated spaces are big enough so as you’re not on top of each other. The shop and cafe is a great bonus, all the food was amazing with the coffee one of the best. A family ran campsite with spotless toilet and shower facilities even when the weather wasn’t kind. We even got a heads up to watch the sunset, when the sun did deem to come out. We will be back and for longer next time. It’s off the beaten track which is a must for us and they even do take away pizzas an added bonus for our teenage son. Hopefully we can book in next year.

We enjoyed our stay here. The campsite was generally clean. When we arrived we were directed to a pitch over to one side of the site, although we were a bit disappointed we didn't get the option to pick out of a few pitches, as we were behind a hill and didn't have much of a view. There were toilets/showers nearby but we only found out on the last day that the toilets/showers around the other side were much newer and cleaner, so that seemed a bit unfair and we were never told about those ones. Definitely a family friendly campsite and felt safe there, lots of kids and dogs. It was a nice walk down pretty paths to the Fortescue arms (only pub in walking distance for a drink in the evening) but more like a 20 minute walk than a 10! The farm shop on site is lovely, and the breakfasts are absolutely gorgeous, best takeaway breakfast (breakfast in a box) we've ever had! I think next time we would camp somewhere a bit nearer (walking distance) to pubs and beaches.

We arrived (after driving 6hours) at the reception , only to be slightly confused as no one was there. The note in the door, asked us to call a number , however we noticed someone inside and push the door open .
Maybe in the future if someone is in the office they should take the sign down to stop confusion .Once inside a lady helped us and booked us in, she walked us over to our pitch, nice and quiet, however we had to ask her where things were, as she seemed in a rush to leave us to it. Once all pitched up, we enjoyed a nice quiet evening. Shops are roughly 20-40mins away. The site does have a farm shop that sells pizza on certain nights or sells breakfast in mornings. However, next day three families were placed next to us and it went from being a quiet site to an unbearable one. The children were up until midnight, making lots of noise, we found it very hard to fall asleep. The showers are okay with no temperature control the water can sometimes be lukewarm washing up area okay, Can get busy during main dinner times. I would say the campsite should advertise as a back to nature family site rather than a peaceful quiet one. The campsite for big families or different families coming together plenty of field and bike hire and walks for children and adults. Pitches are very good size sometimes larger.
Watch out for the paths, can be dangerous.

The campsite can be very windy because of it location so if going and weather is bad, make sure you bring extra entertainment as not much to do on site. The noise level for so much , we ended up getting a lovely hotel in next village.

We arrived for our weeks stay on Saturday 22nd August 2020 we were greeted by friendly staff the owner in fact who showed us around and offered us various pitches for us to choose from. Our weeks weather included a lot of rain, thunder lightening storm francis and sun. We had it all and even had to collapse our tent during the storm and spent the night in the car and rebuild the tent and fix it the dayafter. The owner and his staff have been super accomadating and on the day of the storm the owner spent all day trying his hardest to keep peoples tents safe and pegged down. We have really enjoyed our stay at Lee medow farm and the facilities and the farm shop is brilliant providing everything you need whilst camping.the pizza's and breakfast are truly amazing. They kept the site very covid safe in keeping with the current pandemic, we heard no loud music after hours and the staff worked bloody hard trying the keep the site nice and usable during the troubled weather. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again in the future. Lisa and Lucy
