Disappointing carvery. Popped in on our way back from Exeter. Spoke to a lovely man on the phone who accommodated us and the young lad who waited on us was very cheerful and polite but sadly the carvery was not the best. The meat was chewy, watery vegetables and watery tasteless gravy. So disappointed and sadly would not go back for this reason.

Good afternoon Chez Really sorry to read of your experience Sunday, it is not our usual standard as you can see from the majority of our reviews. All our vegetables are steamed to avoid the watery experience you described but unfortunatly the last few weeks we have had leeks as one of the choices and this seems to struggle regardless. We will be substitutiing this in the coming month or so for Sprouts and also adding Parsnips to the choices on offer so i do hope you will try us again. In the meantime if you would like to book then please email us and ask for Alex and i will be more than keen to help make your experience better and hopefully change your perspective. Warmest regards Alex

A little disappointed with our visit for carvery today. I have a small appetite and was unable to self serve like most traditional carvery’s. I ended up with far more than I wanted (and yes I did ask for small amounts) then it was drowned in thin gravy that spilled over the plate. I asked for cranberry sauce and again was unable to self serve so overall rather disappointed and left more than I consumed so rather wasteful.

Good afternoon Tag1973 Thank you for your review and apologies your experience didn't reflect our usual standards. We have been serving the carvery now since re-opening from Covid and have found that this way ensures the cleanliness on the carvery as well as potential cross-contamination with regards to the various dietary requirements people have. I know that other places do this differently however we find this best for us. I am sorry that you ended up with far more than you would have like on your plate as even though you were unable to serve yourself the guys on the carvery should have been doing their upmost to ensure your meal was to your specific liking. Again with the gravy we have gravy boats available for those that do not want a lot of gravy or want to top up their roast when they see fit, so I am sorry that this wasn't offered to you. I have spoken to our kitchen team regards the viscosity and this is something they will remedy this week. If you feel you would like to give us another go then please email in on our website and ask for Alex and reference this review and i will be very excited to welcome you back and ensure that your experience with us is exponentially better than that of last week. in the meantime i wish you the very best and hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Warm regards Alex

The Globe is a great location for a family get together if you have people from up and down the M5 and also need a level walk for any oldies after your meal! The food is "pub food" but done well - and a good selection of beers. A proper pub. It has a garden and children's play area, although it has been shut off the last 2 occasions we have been. The reason for writing this particular review is to note how impressed we were with our "server" Bailey. He has clearly grown into the job and served us promptly, politely and efficiently. He checked when we asked for something slightly off menu and was generally very pleasant and patient in doing his job in a busy pub. All the staff were efficient and looked to enjoy working there. It makes a difference to the customer experience!

Stayed for 1 night as a stop over on the way to Cornwall. Arrived at 8.30pm, very friendly staff and quick check in. Room was very comfortable, had a nice hot bath in the morning. We had the four poster bed room which had a nice sofa and a big TV. We went straight down for a meal, homemade chilli and lasagne which were both delicious. Again very chatty and friendly staff. We were greeted for breakfast and shown where everything was and then when seated were asked what cooked food we would like . Very large full English and poached egg on toast cooked fresh. Again the staff were lovely . Would highly recommend this cosy pub. We will definitely come again on our next trip to Cornwall.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting National Trust properties in the area. The room was large, comfortable and clean with a fair size bathroom which had a bath and overhead shower. Huge choice of breakfast options, with a choice of freshly cooked. Food was also available during the day and evening with a good choice. Plenty of parking space at the rear of the Globe too and you can access The Great Western Canal from here. The staff were very friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome. Will definitely be returning in the future, but will book a room at the back of the hotel, as the rooms at the front are on the main road and a little noisy.

We booked a table of 14 for Carvery which was delicious and was nice that they also had a selection of other meals for those who did not want carvery. Waitress was lovely all in all thoroughly impressed and would definitely recommend. The carvery had 4 meats which were all excellent and whilst you don’t help yourself it’s put on for you they were happy to put more on if you wanted a little more Was nice and fresh with a huge yorkie & proper gravy Cannot wait for the next visit ☺️

I make no apologies for criticising the food in this pub. Have left two negatives reviews so far and here is the third. First of all the good points I received a friendly welcome from staff. Waitress was brilliantly and very attentive. After ordering my drink I was asked to go to the Carvery…joints of meat look lovely so I choose pork. Two small slices of pork were placed on my plate. You do not help yourself to any vegetables or roast potatoes. These are served to you so you get what they give you. In fairness the pork was delicious. Roast potatoes were not crispy but soggy (micro waved) carrots were hard. You pay £15.00 for a adult roast meal. Over priced… You wonder why pubs are closing down at such a rapid rate! No more reviews, this pub has had its last chance with me…

Ordered lunch at bar, sat in garden on sunny day. Happy talking and drinking and waiting. And waiting. Finally enquired at bar. Order not processed. Told it would be 15 mins .No prob we said. Waitress then very generously refunded the meal cost. We hadn’t asked ! Meal arrived in good time. Then managerial staff appeared and gave us a complimentary meal coupon. We tried to refuse as we said more than enough recompense had been made. The young man insisted we take the gift. Highly impressed with their desire to give over the top customer service. Will be back , and not just to enjoy the free meal ,

Love staying at this pub! Been coming now for around 3 years and a couple of visits a year so they must be doing something right! Always a great experience, very personable staff willing to engage in a little chat whilst still being professional and attentive. The food is very good and the breakfast is a great way to start our journey onwards to Cornwall. My only concern is that for our last visit they were experimenting with making the breakfast more self service which, although not unusual in the current climate, I much prefer being served rather than serving myself. Not a big issue and certainly hasn’t stopped me booking another two visits, one of them in a few weeks time and the other for Spring 2024.

I stayed here with my young family for 2 nights absolutely loved this place. Plenty of parking round the back. The staff were so welcoming and friendly including the dog billy who is absolutely gorgeous and my son was obsessed with. Loved our room was so spacious, TV was nice and big with advantage to watch anything including Netflix. Park outside for kids to play. Breakfast was included in the price of our stay, lovely selection of cereals, tea/coffee, toast and cooked breakfast. Not much near the location however, town is a ten minute drive up the road and plenty of shops, tiverton castle etc. absolutely loved this place would definitely recommend to stay, staff go above and beyond to help you with anything.
