Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A really lovely venue. Well appointed and maintained. Great location and very quiet. Low season so not many other visitors. So why “average” rating? The woman staff member we met had a really abrasive communication style. Passive aggressive and sarcastic. Two interactions with her spoilt our visit. We did mention to her we thought she was rude. We won’t be returning as a result.

This is a wonderful adults only campsite and very relaxing.Great size pitches and the facilities are very clean. They even have a dog agility course. We walked to castle Drogo National Trust from the park. We walked 7 miles and it’s down county lanes. We enjoyed it. We would definitely return.

We were due to visit this site next week and had paid a deposit of £90 earlier in the year. Unfortunately due to our caravan losing a wheel and having extensive damage and needing repair we rang to inform the campsite. I know it clearly states deposits are non refundable and we understand that but we were keen to visit this site and asked if we could carry forward our deposit to another week when the caravan is back. We were shocked that the answers was a firm NO! We’re busy in September was the answer (funny your not) looking at your booking site. We were only asking if we could possibly carry forward our booking to next year! Possibly a week where the site could do with the £300+ full amount but NO . Where is the goodwill we have previously been shown from other Tranquil Sites? We had to cancel another trip August but the site were good enough to move our booking fee to next year. Let’s just say your greedy and you certainly won’t be getting our business in the future. Also I have written to Tranquil Parks to make them aware and they were saddened that this was the attitude of this site. The email has been forwarded to the Chief Executive of Tranquil Parks also.

Had we been given more notice of the cancellation (we understand the damage to your caravan occurred before the summer) we would gladly have carried forward your deposit to another date. Unfortunately, with such short notice, we have been unable to re-let your pitch and, far from being greedy as you claim, we have been left with a loss on your booking. As you point out, our terms and conditions are clear and are highlighted at several points in the booking process. We would always encourage customers to take out travel insurance if they are concerned about the risk of cancelling bookings. In respect of Tranquil Parks, they do not recognise your comment that they they are saddened with our attitude and do not understand why you have said this in a public review. They fully support all member parks in respect of their individual terms and conditions.

Got back from this campsite after spending 13 nights here. What can you say the place is spotless. Showers nice and hot. The grounds are well kept . Has a little shop that has basic stuff. Staff very nice to talk to. No kids a bonus. Few dogs barking . No lights at night so make sure you take a torch. The stars at night are wonderful on a clear night. (only thing who ever was mowing the lawn ran over one leg of or rotory line and bend it back could have left a note ) other than that a fab please. You do need a car to get to places. Thanks for a great time.

Just returned from 9 nights at Woodland Springs. It is part of the Tranquil Parks collection, and is, 'Tranquil'. So Tranquil in fact that we discovered that our van has a very loud ticking clock which is wired in. The Park is ideally positioned so that everywhere we wanted to go to, was about an hour (ish) or less away. Totnes, Plymouth, Princetown, Tintagel, Oakhampton. We had a fully serviced pitch in 'Rosie's' field which was private, large and level. Great secure fields for our dogs to run in. Modern clean toilets. A shop with all the essentials, wine, beer, cider etc. Friendly staff. This reads like an advertisement, but honestly, we could find no fault with the site, perhaps the wifi could have been stronger. ps if you fancy a meal, go to the Post Inn 1 mile down the hill, great pub food and more importantly, well kept beer.

Just left this beautiful site. The warden is very friendly and nothing is a problem. Headed sure we were all settled onto our pitch which was nice. We had plus size pitch which was absolutely perfect for us and our 2 collies they had plenty space to play and pitch was huge, fully serviced shelterd by trees. The site itself has a small shop, picnic area with BBQ and next to that a fabulous dog exercise area with their very own agility equipment. There is us also a bucket full of tennis balls which were a nice touch. The facilities are emaculate. I even got my washing done before i left. They are central to all pitches however my pet gripe is standing trying to have a lovely refreshing shower and having to push a button every 30 sec to keep it running I did not think sites used these anymore and personally I would rather pay extra to have continuous wash, hence my only reason not to give 5 out 5. You also need torch at night if you need the loo as site has no lights at all and is litterally pitch black. This we did not mind as it allows you to enjoy the thousands of stars in the night sky. As the site is in the heart of the countryside. If you like peace and quiet you will love this place. Their is a pub that you can walk to in about 30min accross the fields but we did not find this out until we were leaving from our neighbour you will need a car to get about as nothing close by. Local supermarket 15 min along road at Okehampton and highly recommend the cream teas at the Millend Hotel would definitely stay again ideally suited for access to both north and south Devon and of course Dartmoor. We have had a lovely chilled relaxing stay .

Thank you for the positive comments on the site. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. In respect of the push-button showers, this is nothing about cost but is about the management of hot water to ensure all our guests are able to enjoy our facilities at all times. Our water supply would simply not cope with the demand for providing unlimited hot water across all our showers at busy times and some guests may find they had no hot water to use. As you mention, there is no limit to the number of times you can push the button if you do want a longer shower at any time.

A lovely quiet adult only site. Everything is immaculate with roomy pitches and easy access. We only stayed the one night as we wanted to visit Castle Diogo next day, but we will most likely try and stay again.

We stayed 3 nights at this adult only site. All level pitches. Superb clean shower facilities. 2 dog walk fields which are fully fenced. Lovely and peaceful. The new owners have really paid attention to detail on this site. Would definitely recommend it. Going back again in July.

This is our second visit. A lovely peaceful , almost silent enclave in the northern part of Dartmoor. Easily accessible and yet so peaceful. Good, clean facilities. Minimal shop but just enough. Secure. In fact possibly too secure in July and August because our one and only moan is that we have family nearby and we wanted my wife’s cousin and wife to come over one evening for a meal. They were not allowed on site because in July and August there are no day visitors allowed and the man at Reception would (rightly) not bend the rules. After checking, this IS within the rules. We should have checked. Our fault. So this is not really a moan, but a bit of a warning to others. Having said all that, the site is great and almost all pitches are level. The landscaping is immaculate and I have no doubt we will be back sometime for a third time.

Friendly staff, well maintained grounds, spotless facilities, large pitches, easy access from A30. And very quiet. What more could you ask for? I could go on about the local pubs, walks and the nearby castle Drago which is well worth a visit. Next time we will stay longer without a doubt.
