Walking past The Salutation Inn on a Friday night having just driven a long way down the M5 we succumbed to their offer of a bottle of Prosecco and nibbles for £17. The combination was so good we decided to celebrated my birthday here with Sunday lunch. The head waiter, who was a jolly nice chap, steered us towards the...

The hotel is run and staffed by people who care about their guest's experience, strange what a rare commodity that is. The town of Topsham is a delight to walk around and if you are fortunate enough to have reserved a room in The Salutation Inn and intend on dining in the restaurant then you will have a stay to...

Normally, at any hotel, I end up with a list of small improvements to suggest. This time? Nothing! The bed, pillows, and linens were all top-notch, the bathroom was beautifully modern, with good water pressure and temperature, everyone we encountered was helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were very good, and in a delightful setting under a glass ceiling. Oh, and...

We went for the Gourmet Package, which is two nights stay; two breakfasts; one 6 course dinner, with champagne; one three course dinner. Everything we had to eat was fantastic, really fresh and full of flavour. There are just 6 rooms, but the room we stayed in was spot on - comfortable, stylish but with lots of little extras, including...

Just back from an overnighter. We were lucky enough to be in the two bedroomed family suite covering the top floor of the hotel which was really comfortable and our seven year old loved having his own room - the fact it had its own TV might well have helped! The staff were seriously good - both professional and friendly...

Love this hotel, so well done in all respects. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, en suite. Chef Tom is outstanding, as is the pastry chef - unbelievable dining. Good wine list. We had the 6 course tasting menu ... Crab, lobster, mussels, turbot ... all works of art and delicious. Looking forward to our next stay. Highly recommend.

Stayed for a single night and glad I did. We booked the package including the Tasting menu. Super-friendly and informal staff. The food is just fantastic - fresh, beautifully prepared - congrats to the kitchen staff. The bedrooms are a mix of traditional and contemporary. Lovely beds with handmade matresses and great pillows - nice! Great location, nice people, awesome...

The Salutation is a lovely place – wonderfully friendly people, top-notch service and food. We booked in on the bed and dinner deal as we’d heard such good things about the restaurant and we certainly weren’t disappointed. We opted for the 4 course menu (which ends up being much more with chef’s extras) with matching wine. The sommelier was fabulous...

I would be surprised if there is a better small hotel in the UK. Rooms about 20 foot square, so plenty of space for the seven foot wide, super comfy beds. Lovely, pristine decoration and a kitchen across the corridor for guests to make cups of tea, etc. Staff friendly and charming, breakfast cooked to order with everything served at...
