Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely awful. Car park flooded with 2 farmers tractors scooping up the mud and water! Female behind the bar and manager, rude, arrogant and ignorant. No ice in the bar. Food disgusting. No heating in room and TV not working. Room stunk of damp. Booked for 2 nights but couldn't bear to stay any longer! No apologies and no refund for the night. Wrote to manager and the owner but still no refund. Avoid this place like plague! People should've been warned of the state of car park and flooded roads. We had to wash our shoes and pedals of the car before we could make our journey home. Very depressing experience!

Rather than list verbatim all the faults mentioned in ALL the negative reviews of the accommodation I can confirm after our visit they are all true .The chalets/sheds and contents are grubby and utterly disgraceful in every way .,The Manager is an arrogant man with no time for any one who dares to complain .Only the young lady serving in the bar deserves a favourable mention , For your own comfort believe me avoid this dreadful place.!

This is a great place and well worth a visit. The Steak Hache and the Liver and Bacon were great English classics, the beer was good and the place was very welcoming. It was also serving all day which is rare in Suffolk so I would highly recommend it. Thanks.

Wish I'd read the later reviews in time. I booked our trip at the beginning of the year and didn't know the pub had been taken over since. Our room was basic in the extreme. Damp patch on the ceiling and plaster off in a patch on one of the walls. The duvet was clean but very thin. The room was freezing cold and we couldn't get the radiator to work. The TV didn't work. The whole place smelled so strongly of bleach that my husband couldn't stop coughing and my eyes were watering. The lady at the bar in the pub was lovely and I think quite embarrassed by the managers complete lack of concern or manners. His answer to our complaints, when he could be bothered to come and speak to us, was that the TV repair man was coming the next day, no help to us, we were only there the one night. No comment on the freezing room and his comment on the awful bleach smell was, were we complaining that the room was clean 🤦‍♀️. Instead of a lovely night away to celebrate my birthday, we asked the lady at the bar for a refund. The manager had by now disappeared again, and we drove the 2 hours home. Please be warned, don't go near this place if youre looking for a night away . It really is horrendous and the manager is rude and bullish.

This is an old pub with rooms set in out buildings, there is a large free car park opposite the inn. The staff were friendly and helpful but unfortunately our introduction to the inn was unpleasant. We had booked the disabled accessible room which sadly was to be found up a steep and uneven drive, so we were very pleased to see a disabled car parking sign just outside the room. But after my husband had parked there we were rudely shouted at by a man whom I now take to be the "boss", so much so that we considered leaving. After we had moved the car the man took down the sign. The room was fine but lacked any comfortable chairs. Breakfast was very good. We will not be returning.

Stopped in for a Sunday roast. Food was just luke warm. Gravy was too runny. It was ok. Then we came in for a meal in the Thursday. Two of us had the chicken Jalfrezi. Children's portion, and didn't have any flavour. Certainly not curry, just tomato and chicken stew. Tiny amount. Naan bread over done. One of us had the prawn salad which was meant to be in a tortilla. Anyway it wasn't, and also small. The side of chips was generous though. Overall not good value and curry was terrible.

I don't give bad reviews easily - my wife and I are quite well travelled and try to be fair, but... If you have had the misfortune to stay at Pontins ( I have for some competitions my school teams were in) then this is what the chalets reminded me of. This takes no frills to another level. The first thing that greets you upon entering the chalet through a dingy passage complete with weeds, is the smell of bleach. There is no carpet, and the floor just looks filthy. The bathroom isn't big enough to swing a cat, and bathroom becomes soaking wet when you take a shower in the tiny cubicle. 'Toiletries provided' says the blurb - well there is a blue liquid in a container that is supposed to be on the shower wall but is perched on the sink. That's the extent of toiletries. The artexed ceiling in the bedroom has a patch that looks like some water leaked in at some point. All the fittings are cheap and tackey and there is no where to put anything. Oh - and the TV doesn't work. So I went into the bar and told the man there was no WiFi or TV. WiFi only in public places he tells me - but the TV is working. The engineer has been and it works he tells me. I have to switch it off and switch it on again. Tones was passive aggressive and I didn't feel like he wanted to be bothered again - needless to say it didn't work - so no TV for us that evening - no internet either and phone signal abysmal. Didn't fancy the menu either - very little vegetarian (it's 2023, not 1973), so we at at the Plough and Sail at Snape - excellent. We did have the breakfast - vegetarian was the normal breakfast with the meat subtracted. Having said that what I had was cooked nicely - the water provided for tea was tepid though, and they managed to get the toast and egg order the wrong way round (there were three people having breakfast so not sure what happens when it gets busy). Thing is - this wasn't budget price either. At £85 for a room for one night I didn't expect bells and whistles, but basic level of comfort and service - oh and a TV in the 21st century is not too much to ask. probably a carpet in the room too? The guy couldn't even be bothered to check if we had managed to get any TV - thought hospitality was struggling and they could try and be nice. The lady at breakfast was pleasant, but when we told her about the TV there was no apology. We weren't unpleasant about it either and always try to be polite. I can understand now why, on arrival, the lady was so keen to make sure we had paid and insisted we show her the e-mail from booking.com Never had that before anywhere - but now we understand why! Sorry won't be back.

The promised Wi-Fi is available in the pub but not in the accommodation, this is not accurate in the listing. I was here with my mother who occupied a disability adapted room, it was a good size with an excellent wet room. However this room was furthest from the pub and up a significant slope - mum's disability doesn't directly affect her mobility but you would struggle to self-propel or even push a wheelchair up it. I was in room 2. The TV didn't work, it was unplugged so I plugged it in but "no signal". I could hear every movement - in all senses of the word - of the people in the next room, I imagine they could hear me too. The shower was tiny but worked well. The furnishings were very basic. For our purposes, this was all fine but for more than one brief night, I wouldn't be comfortable.

This email was sent to the manager to respond before posting the review. No reply the p in ship needs replacing with the letter T. Terrible accomodation, rude unpleasant staff, had to prove we'd paid a deposit, they made excuses that the previous owners made all the mistakes ( although this was about 4 months ago that they took over!) One of our group had their room cancelled and they blamed booking rooms, they took no responsibility at all. Here's my email.... Dear manager, We have just had the worst pleasure of stay in room 5 for the weekend. 1. We booked a triple superior room? As you walk through the door, emergency light was hanging of the wall. Windows inside and out covered in spiders' webs, dead flies and other insects. The floor was scuffed, scratched to a point there was no laminate but blacked areas. Beds on castors that did not lock, death trap especially to myself who has a mobility issue. Walls coved in splat marks from bugs that had been killed on the walls. Wardrobe doors opened followed by the drawer that took your knees out. Screws sticking out of the plug socket. Cheap beds and bedding. Fridge missing compartments so when you opened the door things fell out. Bathroom. Mirror rusted, toilet seat broken and the lid would not stay up! Towel rail rusted and crumbling on pipes. Shower disgusting, mildew black mould, grout tiles missing, had to wedge the shower head with the soap dispenser to stop it falling off. Shower was scolding hot, manager came to fix it, and quoted " yes it happens, we've had issues with this" (then fix it, very dangerous) he re set the temp on shower. Started shower no grab rails, no shower mat, death trap very slippery had to grab the shower bar, burnt my hand as it was scolding hot, they were told on booking I had mobility probs. My husband had to stay in bathroom while I showered and I'd to stand on a hand towel in the shower. When asking they'd no shower mats. Sink was rusted, plug hole and outlet was full of scum. Windows again dirty with dead flies and other creatures. All in all honesty the worst place I have ever stayed in. Breakfast first day was okay, Sunday morning me myself and husband, we're greeted coldly by the woman serving. Breakfast half slice of bacon, a small tableful of beans and a quarter of a field mushroom on our plates. Everyone else's in the party had full bacon, plenty of beans, a full mushrooms. We we're greeted with our plates, ignored, while a point was made to the others of there you go my lovely breakfast. Toast out on table to us, toast to others, "oh I'm sorry it's late enjoy!" Very uncomfortable. Why did we not say anything? Umm, on arrival we were made to feel very uncomfortable when booking in, we had to prove that we'd paid a deposit of £50.00 the lady kept asking the managers help and rolling her eyes, a superior room was booked but it was the worst room on the site, flies we're bombarding us from the bar area and a pint was pulled and around 40 flies flew in the bar from the pump. Fly papers full of dead flies, card payment only no cash, appalling service, cleanliness, bad attitudes, Why, did we not leave? This was not by choice alone, already paid and there was nowhere else to go. I will give you 24 to respond before I post this. Adele I would rate the ship inn Blaxhill 0 stars, for accommodation 0 stars for staff and 0 starts cleanliness. The manager needs to step up and stop sitting on his arse in the bar or outside on a high stool lording it, and run the business as it is advertised or get another job! Sent from Outlook for Android
