Despite some of the bad recent comments I read on Tripadvisor... we had a great time! Family of 4 with 2 young children - 2 and 3.5 years old. We decided to book a last minute weekend getaway at Center parcs Les Trois Forêts. We benefited from 25% discount in doing so. And to please my girls I booked a ‘themed’ cottage - Contes du royaume - which had a prince/princess kingdom theme. Everything was so well thought of. From the door to enter the living room that has a giant key hole for kids to go through, to the dining room table chairs, to the play area in the living room and bedroom.. and even the light fittings! Was very happy. The kids loved it of course. The parc itself is huge. And car free. You can unload your belongings in front of your cottage but then have to go park your car at the closest parking for the duration of your stay. With 2 little kids, and knowing our themed cottage was quite far from the ‘Centrum’, we decided to rent an e-car (electric car) for the weekend. No regrets. Because distances are quite long. But heaps of people were walking so it’s doable pending on kids ages. Because we were in an off season period, we got 30% of the e-car rental. Good thing as they are more expensive than I imagined.. 180€ for the weekend is the normal price. But it seems, in general, that the earlier you book at Center parcs, the better your deal is. In terms of activities: There is a huge range to choose from... archery, paintball, escape game, cycling, tree adventure, bowling, canoe/pédalo, etc. but lots of the activities are from 5+ so be careful. However didn’t bother us as we were there for just 2 days so we concentrated on the playgrounds and there are a dozen throughout the park. 2 of which were next to our cottage. But many more (including indoor playgrounds) near the Centrum, at the Farm and at the Forest Lodge. Aqua Mundo was a lot of fun, and again well thought of for little ones. Quite busy on the Saturday though, but a lot less on Sunday afternoon. Check out is usually at 10am everyday, except for Sunday’s - 5pm. Which is cool. We really got to enjoy all day, pack and leave the cottage, and you can still enjoy the park for the rest of the day after you check out anyway. Food wise - we only tried the Grill (at Centrum) and the Suzette crêperie (at the farm). We recommend both. At the Grill, the meat was delicious. Fries...in comparison, so bad. Wish they made nice homemade fries to go with such nice meat..... service was good. At the crêperie, we really enjoyed the food, and service was excellent :) Didn’t try any do the other restaurants but was recommended not to go to the others... so happy we got to do these two. A few negatives, but not many. Would be good to have a proper map of where each cottage is located on the website so that when you book you can take that into account and hence decide if an e-car is necessary or not. Make sure you bring all your necessities..... or you’ll have to buy them ie. Toilet paper, dish washing product and tablets, etc. I think it’s a bit excessive when you know how much it costs per night..... However, there is a very handy Carrefour (supermarket) at Centrum but prices are not cheap. Wish it was an entirely non smoking parc ;-) …
It is a terrible shame to have to write this as we have enjoyed many holidays with Center Parcs, both in the UK and in Europe. But on this occasion they did more than one thing to let themselves down. Firstly, on arrival the €220 of activity vouchers and €44 of activities that I had prepaid for were not available. I wasn't offered a refund or explanation, I was just told to complain. I complained eight days ago and am still waiting for any contact. Secondly, the state of the Premium cottage was very disappointing. The patio furniture was broken, the dishwasher didn't work, the plates were filthy in the cupboard and the place needed a good clean. Worse still, when we first opened the bifold patio doors they fell off the hinge and could not be reattached. I immediately complained to reception, explaining that our cottage could not be secured. I complained twice about it, but on the third day I went to carrefour to purchase the tools to fix it myself. This is not what we have come to expect from CP and we are both surprised and disappointed. Other elements of the holiday were excellent and it is a beautiful location, with great facilities.…
We booked Les Trois Forets last minute, we’d hoped for a VIP chalet but they were fully booked so we booked an Exec Lodge which we found to be clean and comfortable. The facilities are as you’d expect for a Center Parcs and good efforts had been made to put safety measures in place due to cv-19. The reason for 3 stars was the management and service, which we found to be hit and miss. We tried every restaurant, our favourites were the Grill (excellent chateaubriand) and the Forest Lodge which we visited twice - it has an excellent indoor play centre attached which our kids (2, 4 and 7) loved. Only issue was a member of bar staff who told me it’s illegal to sell wine, their menu choice was beer, coffee, mojito or another Aperol Spritz, I’d been served wine 2 nights prior but they waiter refused to serve wine and was actually quite rude. The buffet, although set in a lovely location, was absolutely awful. My salmon was hard, completely over cooked, my husbands burger was freezing cold, the desserts were tasteless and we saw flies on the food. I politely exclaimed that our food was cold (in French) only for the waitress to shrug her shoulders. The Italian, again in a nice location, was very bland and had a school canteen feel. The creperie was enjoyable and we had good service there. We booked bowling, turned up and no staff present, we had to locate staff from another area to help set us up. The pool was overcrowded, impossible to social distance, they need to restrict duration of visits or the number of visits per stay. The chalets could all do with a paint, they’re mostly looking pretty tatty from the outside. The WhatsApp service is good - you can ask questions and book restaurants during working hours (10-5 I think). Overall a good stay but lost stars due to the issues highlighted. …
Children activities are good but pricey. You have to pay for everything. Don't go during the summer, the cottages are too hot, no ac, no air, no mosquito screens. The indoor play area are also very hot, no air, no ac. The cottage was also dirty. Food quality is bad, no selection, the same 2-3 things every lunch, every dinner everyday very poor service and a lot of waiting. It was supposed to be a buffet. I paid full board and regretted it very much. It was very expensive for the food and service offered. A lot of waiting in line. If you have a question or problem you can wait in line at the reception that tells you to call on the phone and when you call the automated system tells you to go to the reception?! So don't expect any help from the staff. Pools are too crowded to enjoy. If you want to slide you have to wait even more. There were no ecars or bikes available for the whole week. They put us on a waiting list and never called us.…
My family and I visited Les Trois Forets just last week! As a family, we enjoyed our time together. The water park and activities are pretty much the highlight of the parc. Sadly, the majority of the food in the restaurants is over priced and not as good as we imagined. Thankfully we broght food/meals to make breakfast, so that saved us a trip the store and restuarant. The grocery store is convenient, but can be a little pricey if you don't plan for it. We purchased items from there and the bakery to make for cheap and quick lunches. The family cabin concepts is a grand idea; however we had one that seemed as if it had not been cleaned in months. We found ourselves vacuuming spider webs from every corner of the cabin. Our duvet had pet and human hair embedded in it, but thankfully we were brought another one. Because of the lack of cleanliness of our room, we only slept under the sheets and didn't even use the duvets. Again, as a famiy we had a great time. It was convenient to book activities and even pay for them online. There is so much to do and you can never truly be bored. We loved renting bikes for the weekend and riding all over the parc. Our best meal was at the creperie...the crepes were delish and the staff was the best! Our second best meal was at the Grill-our waistress was friendly and accommodating. The pool staff was also friendly and professional. *My daughter misplaced my ID while playing with my phone, so I am thankful someone turned it in to customer service. I went there the day after I realized it was gone and they had it! WHEW …
