We have been to Ammos 7 times and visited other places in between, but there is only one Ammos. Years ago, we could not imaging going to one hotel so many times, but this place is perfect for us.
It is a small boutique hotel with 30 rooms. Very chic and stylish but still comfortable and you fell sooo welcome. The hotel is located at the beach with nice comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas. Ammos has a nice pool. Be aware, that in the summer months guest come with kids and kids love the pool. So if you like it quiet, it is not the perfect place. At the beach it is more quiet. There is service at the beach and pool. Actually, you have service everywhere. You never hear:"that´s not possible or I am not responsible for that." Beach towels are provided daily and how many you need (no restrictions). The staff tries to make the best out of every guests vacation and they succeed. Most staff has been there for years. The people have the heart at the right place and you can feel that. The restaurant has excellent food and good wines. Of course you can also have the food in your room. In case you want a change, you receive the best recommendations for other places. The architecture is great and offers chilling and relaxing corners every where. Thanks to Nikos and the team for so many wonderful times. Even during Covid-19 and all the careful measurement, which were made, we felt save and still it felt as always - just great to be there.

We keep on coming back to Ammos. Also this year, we spent 2 lovely, relaxing weeks there in July. The rooms are lovely, beautifully designed, food is excellent, impeccable cleanliness, and outstanding service - thats what describes Ammos best. The hotel has a prime beach location, the pool is great for kids, there is a tennis club nearby, the gym is small but excellent for workouts, you can go for runs either on the beach or up the mountains, you can do excellent road bike tours and great hikes. We love it.

Such a super place to stay...the hotel sits on a lovely sandy beach, with shallow waters perfect for swimming and views of the mountains. A fellow guest said it’s like staying at a friends ultimate villa, and that is true...everyone is so friendly and goes out of there way to make your stay special, from the service on the beach to the fab restaurant with great food. Locally in Chania there are some great healthy restaurants and so many lovely coffee stops and juice bars. Love it Nikos & Johnny .thank you.

Ammos was the last place we travelled to as an Australian family (living in London) of 3 before the world changed, so we couldn't wait to return as a family of 4. This hotel has everything we could want for a summer holiday: a lovely beach, beach side swimming pool, babysitting, clean and tidy spacious rooms, beautiful decor, a restaurant serving delicious Cretan meals (that I even chose to have the same dinner twice in one evening) and most importantly the service which is consistently exceptional. From the emails pre-visit, to every interaction during our stay, all the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, especially when you see the same friendly faces each time we visit. We will definitely be back!

This was our second time at the Ammos hotel. Before arriving, I was a little concerned that it wasnt going to be as good as I had remembered , but from the first minute I after arriving I knew it was the right choice.

Everything was as I remembered, beautiful position on the beach, wonderful welcoming staff ( some the same people 16 years later ! ), stylish thoughtfully designed and spotlessly clean well stocked rooms with an excellent bar and restaurant.

This is very much a family hotel, and not aimed at 'The party scene'. There are families with young children, there were some multi-generation families enjoying a holiday together, but as a couple we also enjoyed quiet afternoons by the pool or on the beach, and prefer this to thumping music or 'organised' activities for the '18-30 crowd.

There was a storm whilst we were there, and so we decided to go out and about and see some more of Crete. The concierge, Chrisa , arranged a hire car for us, which was delivered and collected from the hotel, and she and Nikkos suggested some great trips out. It was also obvious that the hotel very much wants to showcase the best of Crete, and we felt we got to see some of the genuine Cretan highlights rather than generic tourist aimed entertainment.

The only 'down side' was that we had planned on going out to eat each evening, but the great food, and fabulous cocktails at the hotel, meant we spent a lot of evenings chilling out at the hotel, watching the sunset, and having a wonderful time there.

Thank you to all at the Ammos Hotel. We have returned feeling rested and recharged. It is also great to know that whilst the world is gearing up to become as crazy as it ever was, there is a calm sanctuary , on a beautiful beach, where we can escape again.

This is the perfect small boutique hotel. After struggling to find a luxury hotel in Crete that wasn't huge and impersonal we came across the Ammos hotel after reading many good reviews. It wasn't a disappointment. From the stylish simple interiors to the wonderful location on a quiet beach this was the best holiday. Breakfast was huge and generous with something for everyone. Direct access to the beach and sea with loads of reserved sunbeds with waitress service for drinks and snacks.
We ate in the restaurant every night, didn't plan to but the food was really good with specials every night.
The staff were really friendly and went the extra mile to make your stay perfect.
The whole place was spotless and the rooms had everything you could need. We had a sea view room which was very stylish with every amenity.
Already booked for next September.

We visited in early April which is low season, weather not yet hot, but lots of sunshine and was very windy. Beautiful hotel, not large, very helpful staff, very modern rooms and cafe area, beautiful location right on the beach, heated pool. Taxi ride to Chania costs 10 euros, bus ticket 1.50.
Very helpful staff, made sure aircon was working properly.

We are very happy with our choice here. Staff very friendly and accommodating, the receptionist spent lots of time with us giving lots of information on where to go what to see etc. Our room is very comfortable and pristine, top marks for cleanliness. A very inviting pool which we haven't used yet, but we will. Highly recommend.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at the fabulous Ammos Hotel. Having read the reviews we were pleased it absolutely lived up to the positive reviews! The food was excellent, so much so that we ate in the hotel restaurant every evening (highly recommend the fried zucchini meze!) and the breakfast was delicious with home made pastries including almond croissants better than I have found in France :) Great for kids, the staff couldn’t be friendlier. We will be returning!

Great place on the beach. Good restaurant and amazing staff. Really perfect, there were a lot of kids by the pool yet the beach more than made up for it.
Rooms were a nice size with amazing views in to the ocean.
The staff went out of their way on a number of occasions which was rare and is the reason I would be back there.

Are the upstairs rooms safe for little kids? Secure balcony’s and stairwells etc?
Answer from Bobble 123
Probably. The stairways are wide and the steps shallow with solid walls. The balconies were solid and high. But I probably wouldn't leave any child unattended on a balcony - there will always be room for mischief / adventure / danger on the most secure! If you had any concerns I'm sure the staff would be more than happy to help. They were the most helpful of any hotel I've ever stayed in - and that's quite a lot.

There are plenty of shops in walking distance and restaurants too. The best shops and restaurants are a 15 minute bus journey into Chania. The hotel reception sell tickets, they're €1.80 each way I think. Amazing hotel! You'll enjoy it I'm sure :)
