Bua River Lodge is located within Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve which sits beneath the Chipata Mountain. This is one of Malawi's last unexploited wildernesses, where a vast network of rivers weaves its way through wooded hills, nourishing the dense miombo forests that make up this unique ecosystem. Bua River Lodge is the ideal place to enjoy ‘forest bathing’ by offering a selection of safari tents built right among the trees.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Bua River Lodge. The hospitality of Mike, Dalene, Lawrence and all the staff was second to none. We felt so well looked after. We started our weekend off with a bush walk, led by our friendly guide Shaibu who was full of knowledge about the reserve animals and the plants and trees around us. A true wildlife experience. We followed this with sundowners by the river - who could ask for more! The lovely weekend continued and the food and accommodation were amazing, with the outdoor showers adding to the unique experience. Zikomo kwambiri!

Bua Lodge was a heck of an experience! Us three guys were greeted with open arms. The service and the food was phenomenal. It is a one of a kind getaway. Beautiful hikes along the Bua River, and a couple friendly interactions with monkeys make this place an ideal stay for folks who want a comfortable yet rich taste of Africa. Big fan. Definitely hope to bring the wife one day.

We went to Bua Lodge for a day visit. We took a guided walking tour of the reserve, and also had our breakfast and lunch there. The tour guides (Clifford and Frank) were very knowledgeable, funny and friendly, and they taught us so many interesting facts about the native trees and animals in the forest. Upon arrival at Bua Lodge, our car ran into some trouble. The managers Mike and Deline were incredibly helpful in lending a hand and helping us find solutions to our problem. We felt very looked after and genuinely have not experienced the level of patience and hospitality that they showed us. We look forward to visiting again in the future, and hopefully spending a few nights there as well. All in all, a great experience, made more wonderful by the friendliest staff. We highly recommended a visit to this place.

We have been to many safari parks but this is probably one of the best experiences we ever had: such a unique and quiet scenery. The lodge is a private lodge in the Nkhotakota park of African Parks. It is managed by Mike and Dalene which are really outstanding managers. Everything feels so good. You really can relax here. The food is good. The design fo the lodge is magnificent. The rooms are super. We had one on the island and you feel that you are in the middle of the jungle. Bua River Lodge is the best option in this game park and a top 3 lodge in Malawi.
