Warm and friendly welcome as always! Excellent value for money for basic overnight accommodation en-route from Windhoek to Cape Town. Restaurant serves decent man-size meals :) The matrass of the double-bed in room used is however nearing the end of a usable lifespan...

When you open the door of the room swarms of mosquitoes welcome you in. Further to this various other crawlies are in the room and the bathroom. Showers did not work properly and the bathroom was not clean. I would not return.

We stayed here for 2 nights an used it as our base for visiting Fish River Canyon. We booked a budget room which was absolutely fine - the ablutions block was close by and spotlessly clean. The hosts were very friendly and full of useful advice. Food was great, especially the springbok steak. You order your meat course, then just... More

Lovely staff welcomed us into the Country Hotel. Dinner and breakfast are not included in the rate. The lamb for dinner was so tasty. It was accompanied by fresh vegetables. Drinks in the bar/boma were served by the owner and his wife so it was nice to chat about the local environment, especially the constant companion - the dust!! Clean... More

We thought we were gonna be booked into a nice small apartment with its own shower and small kitchen at least, when we got there, there were 4 beds in one room with no privacy for another and the bathrooms and showers were located around the corner. I'd recommend this to people only who would like to sleep over and... More

After an early morning start from Cape Town, our destination of Keetmanshoop was 200k too far so we pulled over at the road junction at Grunau where we came across the Grunau Country hotel. Really friendly staff confirmed that they did camping and opened the gate into the spacious compound. Tents up we headed into the bar for a few... More

After a long trip and border crossing from South Africa the first town in Namibia we entered was Grunau. Tired and hungry we entered the reception and was informed by a staff member that the kitchen had already closed. I approached the manager, Stephanie, and she confirmed that the kitchen was closed but offered to make us some coffee. She... More

New owners, Johan and Alta Louw, have really turned this place around. Rooms are basic, but clean with good beds, bedding, towels, hot water, etc. The bar has a nice atmosphere and the personal attention and hospitality of Johan makes a big difference. Dinner from the a la carte menu was good. We also had the option of a very... More

Old uncomfortable beds and very overpriced for a meal of frozen veggies and some skaap. Rooms are not serviced yet there is no facility to wash your used coffee cups! Wifi is only available in the bar area and is charged for. We eventually cancelled our second night and went down the road to great clean comfortable new accommodation near... More

With regard to the service of rooms,sunshinecamper1979 left with the room keys, without making arrangements at the front desk regarding the cleaning of the rooms, we respect our guests and do not enter locked rooms. So strange that sunshinecamper1979 had a lengthy discussion with the owner prior to his leaving and NOT paying for the so called BAD MEALS ....... More

We stopped in Grunau for lunch on the way to Keetmanshoop. Initially we though the place was shut, but we tried the door and found that yes, there was a nice bar, a sheltered courtyard and a very acceptable snack menu for lunch. Just the job - a handy place to remember!

Thank Chris H
