The Falcon Hotel receives accolades for its comfortable and well-equipped rooms, with guests frequently commending the level of cleanliness and spaciousness. Exceptional service is a hallmark of the hotel, contributing to the positive experience of many travelers, though a few report isolated instances of dissatisfaction.
While the food offerings are highly praised, some guests feel that the hotel's value does not match the cost, citing high prices for what they consider mediocre offerings. Despite this, the overall atmosphere and attention to detail in the rooms are consistently appreciated, even if some find the ambiance lacking in festivity.

We had our wedding at The Falcon Hotel in August of 2024. I know it's cliche to say that your wedding day was the best of your life, but it truly was and this was so much in part to the amazing staff and seamless organisation of The Falcon Hotel. We could not thank them enough and are so grateful to them for making our day so special, in particular Lily and Ange! They took care of everything from timings and to ensuring everything and everyone was in the right place and the right time to moving our luggage to different rooms, but did it to such a high standard too – all of the extra details and care just made the day so much more enjoyable, especially for me as someone who has quite high expectations!
Our guests stayed the night before the wedding and the night of and all said how good their stay was – the rooms were well-priced and incredibly comfortable and all enjoyed the food too! From an organisation point of view, it was so great to have everyone be able to stay at the venue the night before and the night of and the hotel made this really easy too – we were able to assign rooms to guests and have them contact the hotel whenever they could to secure their room. The hotel reserved the rooms for the dates required until we decided which rooms we required, which was such a relief as we know other friends have had a lot of stress with not being able to do this at other wedding venues. We were also given exclusive access for the day as we booked out the hotel.
The hotel staff transformed the Garden Terrace at the back of the hotel into three different rooms throughout the day (which was such an incredible feat in itself). We had the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception with the band all in the same room but the restaurant area was also open to us to retire to while the staff turned around the space in a matter of minutes (it was honestly magic)! The garden at the back of the hotel is also such a fantastic space (weather permitting) with a lovely mini water fall that's perfect for wedding snaps!
We've been to the hotel restaurant a couple of times before and have always rated the food 10 out of 10, but I was concerned when scaling this to a 100 person wedding the quality wouldn't necessarily translate. I couldn't have been more wrong. The food was DIVINE – we had two different starter options, roast beef for the main (with veggie and vegan options available too) and then a trio of desserts. The beef was mouthwateringly good and all of the trimmings were excellent. I could have eaten each course several times over (though I may not have fit in my dress by the end).
If you're looking for a quaint, cosy and effortless all-inclusive wedding venue for up to 130 people with staff who are attentive, caring and go above and beyond, we could not recommend The Falcon Hotel highly enough!

We loved our stay at the Falcon. The room was spotless with nice little touches such as freshly made biscuits and towelling dressing gowns. The room was stylish and comfortable. We had dinner too, food was excellent. The lemon cod and eton mess was delicious. Service efficient and friendly, with a warm welcome and cheery goodbye from reception when we left. Would recommend the Falcon in a heartbeat!

My husband & I only stayed one night (with our Sprocker) but it was the perfect end to our Christmas break. Our dog-friendly room (No. 23) was spot-on, with an area just inside the room with marble flooring and a bench where we could wipe muddy paws and set down our walking paraphernalia. The huge, comfy bed & full wet-room were wonderfully relaxing. All the staff were welcoming but Ingrid was particularly friendly and accommodating (thank you, Ingrid!). However, the icing on the cake was our evening meal. We eat out regularly and this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The slow roasted porchetta toscana was utterly mouthwatering and the beef blade just fell apart. And finally, Uppingham itself is lovely to potter round with boutique shops & interesting places to eat. We’re planning our next visit for the Spring so we can see the Ospreys at nearby Rutland Water Nature Reserve. And, yes, we’ll be staying at the Falcon again!

We had a family celebration lunch here recently. We arrived and sat comfortably and enjoyed pre lunch drinks while we chatted and perused the extensive menu. When the food was ready it all came out together so all the dishes were hot and fresh. There was something for everyones taste! No one was disappointed with their choice. Highly recommended, Monk Fish Thai Curry and Pork Stroganoff. The staff are lovely, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I love the atmosphere in this warm friendly Market Town Hotel.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay at The Falcon, our room was next to the gardens and although the weather was not suitable on this visit we have enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner in the courtyard previously. The reception and bar staff were excellent and very efficient and friendly. Our room was excellent with easy access which was appreciated by my wife, especially the push button window opening/closing. Breakfast was plentiful, great choices. We used the hotel as a base for visiting family and we will definitely be returning. By the way, Uppingham is a delight.

We stayed at The Falcon Hotel for two nights as a wonderful and homely base for my mum’s funeral. The Falcon also hosted the celebration for my mum afterwards. The room we stayed in (Room 20) was stunning - beautiful touches - delightful complimentary toiletries with a gorgeous view over the market square. The service throughout our stay was exceptional and all staff were helpful, approachable and professional. The sensitive and caring support to help arrange my mum’s celebration after the funeral was wonderful and included delicious food and drink (amazing sausage rolls!!) and personal touches. I cannot fault any aspect of our stay and the kindness which ensured a wonderful celebration of my mum’s life … thank you!

This is the second visit this year and the service I received was superb In May I had room 26 and it was very spacious and very welcoming The bathroom was a wet room facility which I need in my early 80’s The staff couldn’t do enough to help me I also pre arranged a room to have friends and family meet up for Coffee and biscuits all went smoothly and saved me travelling far and wide to catch up with everyone It really was a great morning I returned in Autumn and stayed in room 25 I did appreciate this as room 26 fully booked for my stay Although smaller it is the new 26 Just perfect for my stay easy access in the room again very welcoming clean and a wet room. We had a fantastic two day break here. The hotel is in a great location and the staff in all areas of the hotel were excellent which made our stay so enjoyable. Our room was a twin room with a large bathroom with a large bath, walk in shower, toiletries, robes etc. We stayed on the hottest two days and in the room was a floor standing fan which was great. There was bottled water and tea/ coffee making facilities and biscuits. The beds were very comfortable and every where was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent and we chose to eat outside in a lovely courtyard with pretty flowers and high quality furniture and parasols. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be returning in the future. The Falcon should be very proud of all their staff as they give such excellent friendly service, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel has parking and is in a prime position in Uppingham.

The Falcon has served Uppingham for many years and is perfectly situated for visitors to stay or pop in for lunch and looks very appealing . We stayed for 2 nights on a DBB package . Firstly we were booked into what might be classed as a tired care home room with a damp wet through wetroom floor .In fact ,the loo roll fell off its mount onto the floor and was too wet to use . The floor was very much past its best . We did not like the room for tye money we were paying so we were moved into a classic double the size of a shoe box so not much better .Nowhere to put anything . The main menu is on a large printed card and used for lunch and dinner a bit like Coaching Inns and Greene King . .By dinner some the items of choice have often run out .happened both nights . The choices are not great unless you like dried out scampi and chips and tasteless macaroni . On the 2nd day we told them about our shoebox room and was given a free upgrade to a v nice room We shared an afternoon tea which was tasteless Upon checkout a very kind receptionist amended the bill as we had been charge DBB AND all the dinner food items so the first bill was almost £600 instead of £460 . WARNING ... READ your bill before paying . Staff and servers are all pleasant and work hard . When I was eating my afternoon tea the owner came over to our table and gave us a lecture so both tasteless food and the lecture rather spoilt things for us . Do not think we will be returning soon . I soon you will be not be able to stay there unless you pay around 200 per night for BB . All in all not great .

Stayed for one night . Lovely room , amazing staff were a credit to the hotels selection, training and management processes. Great food at dinner and breakfast and real linen napkins at both meals were a touch of old world luxury. Would highly recommend all to visit the Falcon Hotel.
