Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a delightful stay with Richard and AnneSophie. As I was walking the North Downs Way, Richard was very kind and dropped me off to the start of the day's section. My feet were very grateful! To top things off, had a really great indian meal down the end of their road in the evening!

We stayed here for two nights while walking the North Downs Way booked through Contours. We were very happy with our stay. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, even lending us books of nearby places to plan our few days break after our trek. We had a lovely, enormous room and ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and just right for two hungry walkers.

My stay at Upthedowns B&B was wonderful! Ann-Sofie and Richard were lovely hosts and made me feel right at home. The room was clean and comfortable with beautiful decor and the home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac. Their breakfast room had views out onto their gorgeous back garden. Ann-Sofie prepared delicious breakfasts in the morning and Richard was kind enough to help me with directions to see some of the local sights. Chartwell, Hever Castle, and Ightham Mote were all close by and were definitely worth a visit! I also visited Tunbridge Wells - another town with lots of great history and lovely shops. I would HIGHLY recommend staying at Upthedowns B&B!

Ann-Sofie and Richard are truly excellent hosts; warm, welcoming and attentive from the moment I arrived. My room was very clean and provided everything I needed, all within walking distance of a parade of shops for convenience. They also cooked a delicious breakfast in the morning. Thank you both!!

Visiting from Australia, we were fortunate to stay at this delightful B&B whilst walking the North Downs Way. It was spotlessly clean and our master room was so comfortable with a beautiful en-suite bathroom which included a huge bath. Just the thing after a 14 mile walk! The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Ask Richard for the directions to the Tamarind Indian restaurant down the road - outstanding food! Thank you both for such a lovely stay. Thoroughly recommend.

For those walking the north downs way, accommodation is scarce in Otford/Kemsing. How nice to stumble across "upthedowns". Well located, very welcoming hosts, extremely spacious and well appointed bedroom and bathroom, easy walk to an evening meal in the Bell inn (large portions of well-cooked pub food) and excellent breakfast. Perfect.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Upthedowns. Ann-Sophie and Richard made us feel at home. The room was spacious , comfy and we enjoyed a good cooked breakfast. As we were walking part of the North Downs Way and needed some help getting to and from the Path each day , Richard was more than happy to help and a lot cheaper than ordering a taxi. Well done to you both for running a lovely B&B.

We had an enormous room with a comfy bed and easy chairs. The bathroom was huge too with bidet, shower and a separate bath .Good breakfast . Forthcoming hosts.15 minutes walk to the local station of Otford.Ideal for walkers doing the North Downs Way. It is easy to do more sections from here and come back in the evening since public transport is very good.Make sure you check with Anne-Sofie how much you have to pay at the time of your stay since rates may vary.

My two cousins celebrated their 70th birthdays together locally. Ann-Sophie and Richard welcomed us into their abode early so that we could freshen up and change after a long journey. We booked both rooms for the three of us. The main double room was large and very comfortable with a bed the size of a football pitch with an en-suite to match. The other room is a twin room with adjoining private bathroom and well appointed. Breakfast was what you would expect from such an establishment to fill our tummies before our long journey back north.

I've stayed here before and will keep coming back. Ann-Sofie and Richard are lovely and make you feel at home. The room was comfortable, clean and had all that you'd expect. Richard making full English breakfast for me at 6.30am was the icing on the cake.
