If I could rate this B and B 10 stars, I would. From the first contact the service was excellent, with the hosts, Eric and Nathalie, sending helpful information prior to my departing the States. The inn itself is absolutely gorgeous with flowering gardens and a perfect small swimming pool for cooling off after a day of sight seeing. The rooms are beautifully modern with every convenience: double sinks in the bath, rain shower, AC and high end linens. I had the good fortune to enjoy dinner (they serve 3 x per week.) The grilled fois gras on little toasted brioche and an onion /apricot chutney was delicious. Nathalie also made a wonderful confit of duck “Moroccan” style with local organic roasted vegetables. The breakfast each morning included fresh pastries, fruit, cheese, charcuterie, and eggs made to order.

Prior to my visit, Eric suggested I rent a car as they are located in the country about 5 minutes out of Sarlat. I did not rent one as I was at the start of a hiking tour and really didn’t want to drive. I was shocked that I was unable to book a taxi on a Friday to pick me up at the train station in Sarlat (after calling 5 cab companies). Eric kindly agreed to pick me up. The next day he gave me a lift from Sarlat back to Aux Bories, and on my final day, which I spent hiking around Marquay, I didn’t get dinner. Eric and Nathalie invited me to dine with them. She made an exquisite risotto with asparagus.

Eric and Nathalie are the epitome of refined and gracious hosts. They are well traveled and interesting to talk to. They also are respectful of your private time, sensing when to engage and when not to. I made the mistake of not renting a car: Eric ensured I was able to do what I wanted by giving me lifts. Staying there was a highlight of my 2 weeks in the Dordogne and I would love to return. Don’t hesitate to make Aux Bories du Marquay your base when touring the area by car.

Natalie and Eric are the consummate hosts! Natalie provided us with lots of suggestions of things to do while we were in the area and they were all excellent. We enjoyed canoeing down the Dordogne River. The breakfasts were excellent and the gourmet dinner that we had one evening was superb. Eric smoked the trout and it was delicious as was everything else that was served, all at a very reasonable price. The grounds and our room were immaculate. Excellently maintained property with the most gracious, friendly hosts you could possibly find.

On arrival greeted by Natalie who was very welcoming and a mine of information on the region & best places to visit. She and her husband, Eric, even helped us with bookings and tickets. The stone built cottage and other building are filled with character and along with the beautiful gardens and pool helped created a wonderful base from which to explore the Sarlat region.
What made this venue so special were the hosts who live on site and provide freshly baked bread & croissants every day. Nothing was too much trouble and we were even surprised with gifts of home grown produce. We are all agreed we would recommend this place to all our friends without hesitation. That’s Eric & Natalie for a memorable stay in Sarlat.

Thanks Jim for this very nice review. Our self cattering cottage Le Four à Pain is indeed in the same place as our BnB Aux Bories de Marquay and we are eagger to provide our guests in cottage fresh croissants and bread if the want it. We are sorry that the rooms of cottage have not A/C as rooms in BnB (that seems to become necessary considering the warm temperatures we are facing). Nathalie

Our staying at the Aux Bories de Marquay was excellent. Great hosts, always smiling and attentive to the needs of their guests. Impeccable breakfast and very clean room. We also enjoyed their copious dinner one evening - an experience we highly recommend.

A memorable stay with kind hosts Nathalie and Eric, who go the extra mile and try to anticipate what each guest might enjoy. While our stay was a few years ago, we still remember it fondly. They paid such sweet attention to our young daughter, kindly offering her pancakes (because American kids seem to enjoy) at breakfast, and real hot cocoa alongside their other delicious treats. They also concocted a special surprise note and treat "from the fairies" as they knew our daughter still believed in wee folks. Lovely folks, and the place is so beautiful!

We stayed three nights at this quiet and rural setting. A very warm and welcoming place. Our hosts Natalie and Eric pride themselves in serving quality local sourced food such as the chestnut honey from a neighboring farm and local cheeses. Their delicious jams and preserves were home made by Eric.
One evening we opted to stay in and try their cold cuts meal.
They smoked their locally sourced trout and smoked duck breast. Everything about our meal was fresh and amazing.
Thank you Natalie and Eric for everything for the tips and places to visit.
We spent ten days driving around SW France and this place was a gem.

We have to start with Eric and Nathalie. Their level of care and attention is beyond anything we have previously experienced. They are charming, helpful, informative, gentle. Nothing is too much trouble.
As for the home made food for breakfast, the beautiful room, the peace of this countryside haven: they all combined to give us a most relaxing break. Thank you,
Brian and Heather

The Bories of Marquay was a wonderful place to stay. Our hosts, Nathalie and Eric were warm, engaging and very helpful people. They were a joy to be with. Our room was lovely and the grounds beautiful. Breakfasts were terrific, including coffee, tea, rolls, meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, and more. We had a wonderful dinner that we helped Eric and Nathalie prepare, and with our urging, they joined us for dinner for a delightful evening. I can't think of a better place to stay!

We had a wonderful time over our four nights with Nathalie and Eric. They were great hosts. They were consistently warm, welcoming, and available. They offered excellent advice on what to see, where to go, what to do, and where to eat. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped. The common areas and grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Nathalie makes many of the dishes and products used in breakfast, and Eric smokes the trout for one of the salads offered. We highly recommend them.

We were four couples and we spent three nights at this beautiful property in early July. This was by far the best of our stays. Natalie and Eric are great hosts and they went out of their way to make our stay not only comfortable but also memorable. The rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable. Very clean and tidy. A nice pool and hot-tub and al lot of personal touches which made our stay. Located not far from Sarlat centre. Good parking facility. We simply loved it.
