This nicely appointed hotel lies down a hill and 3 blocks from the center of touristy but charming Salento. As soon as I saw the town, I wanted to explore it. Yes, most of the shops exist for visitors, but the buildings’ color scheme, the central square with its handsome church, and the overall tidiness make investigation obligatory. The rooms in the hotel surround a central, interior courtyard. The rooms have reasonably good wi fi, adequate outlets (4 receptacles), no ventilation, a slightly lumpy bed with plenty of pillows, and an accessible shower with great (solar generated) hot water. Since my room faced the courtyard, and there were no other windows, it soon became stuffy. The only way to cool it down a bit was to open the window and door facing the inner patio, of course foregoing privacy. As in most Colombian establishments, the staff is very helpful. The hotel has a 2:1 happy hour from 3-7 PM daily and offers a 10% discount for dining at the hotel’s eatery, Quindu.

Good location, excellent breakfast included.
Close to the main road and the square.
It is noisy, you can hear everything.
Their shower is die for because it’s a lot if water, however they barely give you liquid soap both by the sink and in the shower... The thing is that you forget once you leave the shower And remember again when you are taking another shower.
Good hotel and good price.

I visited Salento with my mom, sister and niece. We stayed in the family room. It was very spacious, super clean, the beds were very comfortable and had nice shower.
We really enjoyed the breakfast. Good selection of breads, good fruit, very nice coffee and you can order eggs any style you want. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Planning to bring my husband and kids here. Thank you guys ♥️

The hotel was really nice, clean, welcoming and well located. All the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was very varied with fresh produce and tasty food. I would highly recommend this place to stay specially if you would like to see all the scenic places around the area. I would definitely go back there!

A very attractive hotel with a decent breakfast, just a few minutes from the town square, but many restaurants and stores are on the next street. Very noisy due to the open courtyard in the middle and guests speaking almost shouting, plus barking dogs in the neighborhood and a school next door with shrieking kids. The town is not that big but very hilly. Good beds, shower & internet except for the last day when the internet was out for 3 hours. Then later that day, there was no hot water and they said it would be 6-7 days before it returned b/c of the loss of natural gas in the city, so we decided to leave the next day for Pereira where our next flight was. As we were checking out of Salento, the water went out entirely--hot and cold. When we got to the hotel in Pereiro, there also was no water in most of the city b/c of a construction project so the problem was throughout the region. We checked out GranAzul, which was 10 minutes up the hill and in a beautiful quiet setting; it was about 30% more expensive.

Overpriced for their basic rooms
This hotel is overpriced for what they offer. These are the pros and cons based on my experience.
Pros: the room was clean, the hotel is centrally located, walking distance to all the shops/restaurants, I ordered an airport pick up, the driver was on time and professional.
Negative: the room was very basic and it’s over-priced for such basic room. The breakfast was below average, the room window opens to inside hallways as a result the room was so dark. The front desk staff didn’t not speak even basic English, it was very confusing to communicate with them. I don’t recommend staying here.

It seems the hotel has nice suites. I was in an ordinary room and it was nothing special: small, basic and dark as the window gave on the corridor and the only light came from the bathroom (the door of the bathroom had to be kept open to have some light and some air). The pillows were too high and hard, there was only one outlet to plug electronic devices and one of the lamps near the bed was not plugged at all. The shower goes with solar panels, unluckily if the day wasn’t sunny even running the water for five minutes gets you hot water; it’s much better it the day was sunny. Common spaces are very sad and not inviting. For mysterious reasons you have to tell the time of breakfast the day before; there was nobody in the room and breakfast doesn’t need a great preparation, eggs if you want them and the rest is there for you to take (fruit, cereals, milk, yogurt, hot water and coffee). No complimentary water, no fridge. There is a safe. Good wifi. The location is good, few minutes from everything.

I thought this was a lovely hotel, very quaint and rustic.
The rooms are off a central open space and are very cosy and original.
The staff were friendly, wifi was good and the place was spotless. It has safety boxes and very comfortable beds.
To only downside was it could be a bit noisy when guest return as the central courtyard meant you heard everything and everyone!
Only a couple of blocks from the central plaza, near all the shops and eateries. Very close to the steps leading up to the lookout point too.
I'd definitely be happy to stay here again.

We booked this hotel last minute. The service when we checked in at 7pm after 4 hours of driving was not the best... I personally expected something more than a lady in her phone all time... Anyway, the room was average, the shower didn't work properly and we woke up early in the morning because of the noise some people with their kids were making (probably bad luck for us)... but fortunately for us not everything was bad, the restaurant was the saver, it has an amazing view of the town, plus the service there is good.

The takeaways: Average service. Beautiful hotel. Average rooms. Awesome restaurant.

We arrived from Bogota into Pereira, haggled a Taxi at the airport (from $85,000 to $160,000 COP), & had a very pleasant journey 1hr onwards to Salento.

The hotel & town are just superbly cute. We arrive about 12pm, they stored our luggage & we went for a stroll. The big restaurant immediately at the top of the road, on the corner with a balcony, is just amazingly cute and excellent quality.

The town Salento is just adorable. Enough said.
The hotel let us in around 2pm as the room was ready. Really nice, clean, simple decor. Loved the vibe. As described. Spacious for two medium sized luggaes and simple travellers. Loved the full length Mirror/ lighting all good for makeup (I struggled in other Hotels!)

There's no form of Fan or AirCon though.
But it felt so safe, so we opened the "French windows" and just pulled the blind down, to let air in. Overall great, simple, met the needs of the type of stay in this town. Everywhere is rustic and cute, so just don't moan in case you were expecting anything else - you've probably chosen the wrong kind of village ;-)

On the way back we got a bus from the Terminal (8 min walk down a cute side street from the "main plaza" in Salento). We pre-booked our ticket the day before. Factor 1hr journey, & that you get dropped off at the Bus Terminal which is about another 15min Taxi ride to the Airport. It was smooth ane cheap, but definitely obviously not like a private taxi service!

Have been there recently, the hotel is close to the town walking distance and ok. First went to the other one you mentioned and as I remebered price is (far) more expensive. Would go for Salento....the only thing as mentioned is they dont have a terrace.

Will we be able to watch the Super Bowl there on Fox TV on 2/5?

I don't know. There is a TV in the dining room. The hotel is really good about answering questions by email. Are you going to hike the Valle? Make sure to arrive at the Public Square early, by 8 AM. Read my entry about following the trail. It's a good idea to carry layers and a throwaway plastic poncho. It can pour for One and a half hours. Also, try to visit the biological reserve. If you are young and adventuresome, you might want to stay at the reserve for one or two nights instead of hotel Salento.

I'm also a light sleeper, no need for white noise as there is a water fountain that will make you sleep like a baby. The weather is cool no need for fans.
