Booked back in April for a week away in our tent with electric hook up in June. Arrived a little later than planned on Friday evening, called ahead to make sure this was OK and they were closing up around 9pm - so late arrivals after that would be in a sticky situation. Luckily we arrived around 8pm so all was fine. Kind and friendly staff on arrival, showed us to our pitch using a golf buggy, gave us some handy documents on walks to Polzeath beach, WiFi, map of campsite etc and informed us of closing times of the shower block.

Pitch was on a slight slant but didn't impact us to sleep, we were on pitch 159 which had reasonable views, over the hedges, of the sea. We didn't have too bad weather, but it might have been blustery as it was in the middle of the field. Electric hook up was good, never cut out. Water points spread around the edges of the fields. Bins were readily available near the shower and toilet block.

Showers were good, nice power and warmth. Toilet blocks always clean and tidy and they didn't shut them for an hour to clean them which was a blessing!! Showers were closed at 2130 and opened at 0730 (but occasionally we found them open outside these hours which was helpful as we could get packed up earlier on our departure day!) Due to COVID every other shower is locked so in total (for women) there were 6 in total and 9 toilets (spread over 3 rooms). I never had to queue as the site was quite quiet.

There was a washing up block with about 8 sinks and also had 2 washing machines and 2 driers which we didn't use but was handy to know they were there.

Cant have a disposable BBQ but we have a fire pit BBQ that was at least 2 feet off the ground and we never got told off for using it to cook with.

Walkable distance to Polzeath but we did drive down some days so we could take more beach stuff like surf gear and kayak etc. Parking in Polzeath was reasonable - 8 or 10 pounds for a day I think. There was a little Spar shop for food and stuff, handful of restaurants, ice cream shops etc. Beach has some cool pizza vans/smoothie vans etc. Lots of nearby walks. Would visit again!

It's as if the last review was written by us! We also travelled with our dog and were amazed that for the price there were no designated dog-walking areas or dog bins. This was our last stop on our tour of Cornwall and our other sites had provided both of these amenities for a fraction of the price! We were also amazed that no recycling bins were available - all rubbish into the big containers! We ended up bringing a bag of recycling to do back at home. However, other aspects of the site were good. Showers were spotless and even though busy, we didn't need to queue. Toilets were plentiful and notices stipulated to flush hard to keep clean, which was necessary. All staff that we had dealings with were friendly and very helpful. The site is an ideal position to allow a lot of walking and we did sections of the SW Coastal Path from here. When taking everything into consideration, we did think that the site was overpriced, especially when compared to others that we had stayed on during this trip.

We stayed for 4 nights, really happy with our experience. This site is basic but facilities completely met our needs and was a pleasant base while exploring surrounding areas. Tent pitches were a good size and close to an electric hook up. Toilets and showers were always clean and tidy and no complaints about shower pressure and temp. Men's showers could do with more hanging space for belongings in the cubicles however there was ample storage space in the women's. Staff were friendly and helpful. On site bar/cafe was lovely, food and drink was very nice. There was also a small area to purchase basic necessities such as milk etc however not much in the way of a site shop and the bar/cafe is shut on Thursdays and Fridays. The reception area does stock some camping essentials such as tent pegs if you're ever caught short which was really helpful. The walk down into Polzeath was about 15 minutes for us but really hilly on the way back up so potentially a longer walk for a young family or if slightly elderly. Definitely would stay again.

Positives - friendly and helpful on arrival. Views are lovely and location is great.
Plenty of showers and toilets. Generally clean
.
Areas we thought could be improved - we had to squeeze into a pitch due to how other tents had pitched. Staff erected windbreaks for us to help privacy.
We were caught up in storm Evert and this is a windy site at the best of times (lovely breeze in hot weather) - we had kept an eye on this via the met office but we felt there should have been some communication from staff eg to let us know strong winds were coming. Our tent survived but many other people were up throughout the night trying to save their tents. Just staff checking the next morning to make sure we were ok would have been enough but there was no communication at all. A daily board with weather conditions would be helpful.

We really missed having a shop/area to buy basic foods such as milk and bread. This is the first site we have been on (at this cost) that does not have this facility.

We have just returned from a week at this lovely campsite. We have previously stayed at Tristram (right on the beach) but as they don’t allow tents anymore we thought we would try it out. Access to beach not as good but a great alternative.

It was a fantastic campsite with clean facilities. We were on the Lundy field (pitch 159). Great pitch size but next time we book would probably go further up the field as just missed the view of the sea.

We were a family of 4 ( inc 2 children aged 3 and 6). Great family campsite and everyone was respectful of noise levels past 11.30pm.

We didn’t do the walk to the beach - was about a 3 minute drive and just paid for parking everyday. The beach car park was almost full by 8.30am but we parked behind Anne’s cottage and this always had spaces before 10am. We also visited during the heatwave so walking with children was a no go.

They have just built a new bar/restaurant on site. We just missed the opening of it but it looked fantastic and we can’t wait to visit next year when we return.

Overall a great week at a great campsite with friendly staff!

This camp site is lovely, we came as a group of 6 adults 2 children 3 dogs and we all had a lovely stay. The pitches are great very level and grass gets cut nearly daily! Showers are immaculate and toilets, Angie the owner is so lovely and helpful and makes the stay a pleasure. Its quite a walk to the beach about 30 mins but so worth it. The bar/restaurant is so good, we had a pizza each then ordered one of every side and was far too much food but was absolutely lovely, prawns were something else and the pizzas were fab too! We will definitely be returning in the summer!

Rude, spiteful and miserable old female owner, who has no business working in the hospitality industry. Nothing hospitable about our stay. We got caught in traffic due to an accident en route, and as result were due to arrive at 19:20. We called ahead and they said we cannot arrive as last entry is 19:00. 20 minutes. Bearing in mind we had a 6 hour drive behind us and had no other options. The old woman said point blank “it’s just tough, we cannot accommodate you because you’re late, it’s not safe for the other guests for you to set up”

She likened it to missing a flight at airport, and that there was nothing she could do. It’s a camp site, not an airport! Seemed like she just wanted to knock off and go get on the G&T’s on her Friday night.

My partner and I ended up staying in our car down the road overnight, which was positively awful. The whole thing ruined the holiday and the old owner was rude to us the next day when we did check in too. We did not get our Friday night reimbursed either, which was a bitter pill to swallow

The campsite itself has half decent facilities, although it’s very exposed, toilets are far away, no bins anywhere near the pitches, it’s like a 30 min walk from the beach (not the 10 minutes they say online) and you can’t see the sea from the vast majority of the camp site. To their credit, toilets were clean throughout.

Genuinely, after the terrible experience and nastiness of the owner, I can’t see why these people work in the HOSPITALITY industry, serious intervention is needed, especially when there are so many good options nearby.

Avoid avoid avoid.

Stayed for 4 days and had a stressful start as van broke down when arrived! Straight away The guests on site were super friendly in helping push it and offer tools and chargers!! Ray and Kim were lovely and friendly and always spoke to you whenever passing. Site was immaculate with lovely spacing for social distancing and facilities were really clean with lovely hot showers. The highlight was the spectacular sunsets each night which brought the camp together. The view to the sea was superb. Can’t rate our stay high enough. Will be booking to come back in the next couple of weeks if space!! Nice that was just family’s and couples with no rowdy groups or noise at night. Thanks ray and Kim for the hard work you do to keep the site so clean xx

What a lovely Campsie, a great base for North Cirnwall and fantastic views. After lockdown we were weary of travelling anywhere but thank God we found this place. 12 nights (including two extensions ) and would have stayed longer but for work. toilet and showers open intermittent but this was to make sure of deep cleans at regular intervals. Sanitising around the site. Very well-organised.The site is spotless and run very well by Ray & Kim. Keep up the good work👍.
Polzeath is a great little place for both a day at the beach with plenty of refreshment outlets or a couple of drinks at night with somewhere to eat overlooking the bay or a little walk up the bank to the Oystercatcher. Great St Austell pub for ales and food food. Will definitely return here.

We have visited a couple of times and have really enjoyed our stays.

The site is well looked after and there are good facilities.

The location is pretty good with some nice walks in the area. The beach is within walking distance but only just if you are loaded up with all of your beach gear.

The only real problem is that the last check in is at 6pm. This in itself is not a massive issue but the confirmation email I received said 7pm with a terms and conditions attachment that states 6pm outside of high season. I can see from the other reviews that I am not the only person that has fallen foul of this and I feel that by stating an incorrect time and following with an amendment, the customer is being set up for failure. This situation meant that we missed out on the first night of our holiday as we had intended to leave straight from work on the Friday.

My frustration with this grew when I came out of the shower at 18.30 on our first night, which should have been our second, to see a camper pull in and apologise for being late only to be told that it’s not an issue. This is after I was told that there was absolutely no admission after 6 for health and safety reasons…

I feel that this situation really needs to be addressed as it will inevitably cause more people to be frustrated with what is otherwise a good site.
