We had our holiday cancelled so decided to have a staycation. Based on positive reviews and judging by the pictures we decided to stay in the Barn Cottage at Horsley Lodge. I am very pleased that we did. From the moment we turned into the premises and went through the gate and saw the grounds we knew we were going to love our stay. The check in was easy and quick during these difficult times, and the signposting to the cottage made it easy to find, as did the instructions by those at reception. The cottage looked lovely from the outside and even better from the inside. Floor 1 was nicely laid out and was what I assume was a sofa bed and the kids found them nice and comfy. A few light bites was kindly left in the room and water in the fridge. The first floor was the master room which had a really comfy bed and finally upstairs was the bathroom with a fantastic bath tub. WiFi was great, the breakfast we had in the restaurant was very nice and well priced with fantastic views of the golf course and hills etc. Thoughtfully, local restaurants and things to do was in the welcome pack within the room with some great suggestions. In summary, great grounds, lovely cottage and fantastic staff. Can't ask for much more. My kids asked me to buy the cottage, you can't really offer much more praise than that.

We went to Horseley Lodge as guests for a family member's wedding. Laura the Wedding Organiser was helpful with everyone, especially as the Covid 19 restrictions had affected the amount of guests etc. The room that the Ceremony was held in was beautifully decorated. It looked amazing! The registrars had their table and social distancing was upheld right the way through. We were treated to Prosecco/Orange Juice and then canapes in the Conservatory, which were absolutely delicious. The photographer was so professional and Horseley Lodge had plenty of locations for the wedding photographs. There was plenty of seating so we could sit in our own 'bubbles'. Waiter service was provided to bring drink orders to the tables with card payments also taken at the table. Later, the Wedding Breakfast was served in the Ceremony room with tables allocated for each 'bubble' and elegant table decorations and wine brought to the tables. We had a tomato and pepper soup starter, quenelle of mashed potato with seasonal vegetables and chicken in a mushroom sauce which was so delicious I can't find words to do it justice. The pudding was a toffee sponge pudding, with a glaze and toffee sauce and the lightest custard. Laura was so attentive to the Bride and Groom and to all the guests. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The kitchen staff and barman were also a credit to the venue. We sat in the Conservatory again for a while and had a peek at the Bride and Grooms Cottage for the Wedding Night. The Cottage is a self contained, warm cottage which has been renovated to a fantastic standard maintaining period features, a huge bed, ensuite and bath on three levels with a large TV and sofa, tea and coffee making facilities and microwave as well. On return to the Conservatory we relaxed and had socially distanced chats and then enjoyed a buffet later in the day and again, the food was generous and tasty. Also, as the Lodge has a top class Golf Course and shop it is a must for any Golfing visitor.
We would recommend Horseley Lodge to absolutely anyone who is looking for a Wedding Venue in these uncertain Covid times as they provide a top notch service safely.

Yet again I had a most relaxing and comfortable stay at Horsley Lodge. The suites are spacious and offer all the facilities you need for a great break. Even under current circumstances, everything ran smoothly and it was still a pleasure to get away. There is ample parking and I was still able to have evening meal and breakfast, although they are running a reduced menu.

Staff were very welcoming and it was great to see some familiar faces again.

Great location, great views, great stay. I can certainly recommend Horsley Lodge.

Thanks to Laura, Richard and the team!

We celebrated our belated Golden Wedding Anniversary 30th October 2021 being forced to delay due to Covid-19. Throughout the delay Laura the events organiser kept in touch offering revised dates. We visited several times and some without appointments, being able to view the function room and hotel rooms (which were impressive) without hesitation and welcomed with a smile. On our day arriving early and despite being busy preparing The Amber Suite we were welcomed and didn't feel in the way. We had canapes with comments on how delicious they were, served discreetly and professionally. For 50 guests we chose 3 course meal with choices for each course, followed by coffee & mints. It was served perfectly and promptly. It was hot and overall very tasty. Despite dietary requests, with fussy eaters, each being catered for, no fault could be found. Laura and her staff did their utmost to make it a very happy, enjoyable occasion. Our guest who stayed in the hotel were pleased with the luxury and comfort of their rooms. Breakfast with lots of choice and freshly prepared. Thank you all for making our party a wonderful and memorable celebratory weekend.

Just leaving from having a friends baby shower at Horsely Lodge and can not praise the staff enough! We had an afternoon tea which was delicious! We were amazed with both the quality and quantity and feel that it was very generously priced. The staff were so friendly and helpful without being intrusive. And we are leaving with boxes full of left over afternoon tea goodies!
Can not recommend this place highly enough!
Thank you Horsely Lodge x

Spent a lovely weekend in one of the gorgeous cottages at Horsley Lodge. The cottage had everything we needed including a wonderful spa bath on a mezzanine and the most enormous bed I’ve slept in - at 6ft 1, I had to jump to get off it. The staff at Horsley Lodge were great, very friendly and helpful and it was very entertaining watching the golfers on the 9th hole whilst enjoying a delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Our team of 7 visited Horsely Lodge for a business offsite for 2 days on 12th & 13th June and the service received was fantastic. Laura, the events organiser was very responsive on email before the trip to ensure the event would run smoothly and whilst onsite she was available for anything further we may need. We booked the 24 hour delegate package and included everything we needed at a very affordable rate.

The rooms were lovely and the lead booker was very pleasantly surprised to have been booked into the Salt Suite. The Suite was absolutely beautiful and for what's included, is worth the cost. The views overlooking the Course from other guests rooms were exceptional and made getting up easier.

We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and every guest was overwhelmed with how amazing the food was. The service was also brilliant, hosts were attentive to guests.

All 7 guests in our party would recommend staying again and we will be recommending this hotel for other business functions.

Beautiful hotel set in beautiful grounds. We were visiting Nottingham and wanted to stop somewhere on the outskirts to break our journey up as we were arriving on a Friday night. We really hit lucky with Horsley Lodge, which although in Derby, was only around a 20 minute drive in to Nottingham the following morning. Both our rooms were spotless, beautifully decorated and amazing views across the golf course. Staff very nice, We stayed for dinner which was lovely and breakfast was fab overlooking the golf course! Staff very nice, Tom looked after us very well.
Would definitely stay again.

Booked for 50 for the wake following Mother’s funeral. There was a cramped tightly packed room with 44 places. Food served outside and no message to say available. Emailed to book in advance for close family dinner afterwards no response to request, so much on forgot to chase. Asked when arrived to book for 07.00 told not available and would need to be 06.30. Subsequent message need to slip to 07.00 and then told kitchen very busy and would need to bear with them and they would try to accommodate us. Given distance people had to travel we went elsewhere after having paid a not inconsiderable sum.
