Nestling close to Derby in the village of Mackworth is this delightful B&B, and not to be confused with the nearby Mackworth Farmhouse Hotel, which is directly on the A52 to Ashbourne. Mackworth House Farm is quiet with the only noise likely to disturb the peace and quiet being the sound of cattle in the next-door farm coming in for milking ‘old-style’. Peter and Marc run this two-hundred-year-old house, set in its own grounds with good car parking, on a friendly and C-19 secure basis, for their guests. Nothing appears to be too much trouble. The bedrooms are spotlessly clean, airy and spacious with traditional furnishings and modern bathrooms. Dressing gowns, white fluffy towels and toiletries were provided with a wide selection of teas with fresh milk in a useful min-fridge. The availability of a smoking area isn’t as detached from the house to be unnoticed. As has been reported in many earlier reviews, Marc’s breakfasts are delicious, and, prepared on request. We were lucky enough to stay when the weather was warm enough, and the sun shining, for breakfast to be enjoyed outside, overlooking the surrounding countryside. Hairdressing and afternoon teas are also available to outside guests and resident guests can avail themselves of a laundry service. This place is special because of its location and the careful, convivial attention given to guests by Peter and Mark. It is comfortable, not chintzy. Places of interest to visit nearby are suggested in the bedrooms.

Pleasant two night stay here visiting National Trust sites near Derby. Well run, friendly, nice room, quiet, clean and good breakfast at this farmhouse B&B. How glad we were that we came here - we live in a peaceful place so it was home from home.

The suite I stayed in was clean, warm and comfortable and I enjoyed some of the most restful nights. The breakfasts were superb. Peter and Marc were courteous and attentive hosts ensuring that I felt safe with their attention to Covid security. Mackworth Farm House is ideally located for exploring the Derbyshire Dales, Derby and places of interests in the surround areas. I would stay again.

Warm friendly hosts and great room. Comfortable bed, selection of hot drinks available. Nothing too much trouble and great breakfast! Our dog was so welcome too and fussed over. Following guidelines to keep us all safe. Can’t wait to go back.
