Located at Mangsit, 4 km north of central Senggigi, the main tourist centre of Lombok, Windy Beach Resort occupies a choice site at the north end of this beautiful beach. The 14 traditional-style thatched-roof cottages, stunning pool and open air dining pavilion lie in two hectares of tropical gardens skirting a secluded, virtually private, white-sand beach, with good snorkeling offshore. Offering great seclusion, this is the perfect place for complete relaxation and revitalization.

First of all, avoid Senggigi if you can and if you have to stay in Senggigi, do not bother for more than a night or two (it is a transit & depressing area, just used to go to the Gilis). Windy beach is a budget clean and comfy hotel right in front of the beach. Each bungalow has a little terrace and the superior one has tea making facilities. The bathroom is smelly and the hot water sometimes disappear...
The staff are quite nice, the restaurant serves OK food but the breakfast is very poor. The hotel is located 10-15 minutes by car to the center so you need transportation.
Overall, probably the only budget beach hotel in Senggigi and an OK stay.

We booked directly with the hotel, and had to complete a booking form and fax it to the hotel to confirm the booking. The hotel is in Mangsit, about 3km away from Senggigi. Taxi from the airport to the hotel was about 83000Rp and we arrived late at night when there was a power cut. The reception and restaurant has power, but the rooms were in darkness. There are candles in the rooms and emergency lights which are rechargeable. The rooms are dark, with varnished bamboo walls and ceiling, and dark wooden floor, but the room was clean. There was a large bed with mosquito net, small wardrobe, dressing table and mirror. The bathroom was clean and quite modern, although getting hot water from the shower was a slight challenge as the boiler only seemed to provide very hot water or cold water. Outside the room was a balcony with a couple of chairs and a table, and a view to the sea at one side. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, there are only 14 rooms dotted around a large plot, with a swimming pool and sunbeds. Beach/pool towels were provided at the pool, although we had to ask for them at reception a couple of times. Breakfast was simple but tasty, a small buffet with either fried rice or noodles, pancakes and mango jam, fresh fruit, bread for toasting, cereal, and tea or coffee. We ate dinner there one night, and also on a lunchtime and the food was delicious and very well priced. To get into Senggigi, the reception are happy to call you a taxi which takes 2 minutes to arrive. The taxis are metered and cost no more than 15000Rp to get to Senggigi where there are plenty of restaurants. There are also plenty of metered taxis in Senggigi for getting back to the hotel.
Outside the hotel is a pristine beach, with a small handful of sellers who do wander up to the boundary of the property and display their wares. A short walk down the beach to the left takes you to the Lombok Holiday Resort where we had lunch a couple of times, delicious but expensive. Further down the beach is Qunci Villas. There's a small convenience store just over the road from the hotel.
What made the stay was one of the staff Hal, who always had time to stop and chat and he gave some wonderful advice about Lombok; he was an absolute star.

Just 10 minutes by taxi from the commercialised Senggigi. Mansit is known for its “Boutique” hotels. We had considered the Qunci villas (not sure how you pronounce it but it made us chuckle) which is probably more swish. The Windy Beach has 22 thatched cottages set in well maintained gardens. We had a two storey cottage. It was very spacious . Downstairs had 2 sofas and a table, wall hanging, granite worktop with tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom was downstairs which wasn’t quite so convenient. Spacious but a bit dated and the boiler definitely needed replacing . The water was either boiling hot or cold and the tap had to be jiggled back and forth for to maintain a reasonable temperature. The wooden open plan stairs were a bit steep and you had to be careful you didn’t knock your head on the ceiling when going up. Also floorboard in the bedroom a bit loose and you had to be careful you didn't catch your foot in it .Fairly new air con unit was very effective. Food was good and the service good. The manager Hussan was lovely; very helpful and accommodating. Hal, one of the waiters, was particularly friendly and chatty.

Whilst we were there the hotel was in the process of being sold. I expect by next year it will be
spruced up

Because of the great reviews here on TA and the fact that we needed to compensate for the brilliant but expensive stay at Pan Pacific inTanah Lot, Bali, we booked here for 5 nights. Upon arrival we checked in. The check in form killed the 57 little bugs on the counter. We were brought to our special cottage, which is supposedly the best they have. It was tiny, very damp, totally no great atmosphere and had fungus on the wall of the top bedroom.
That night we both woke up by the sound of something falling on the floor. I said to my husband that it sounded like his watch fell on the floor. But it didn't. We then heard the same sound like someone or thing was running with a watch and heard trippling feet. My husband went through the cottage to see whether he saw someone or thing that could cause it (because I thought someone was in the cottage). But nothing.
Next morning I woke up, took a shower, which has a LOT of instructions to try to keep it warm and wanted to put my watch back on, but it was gone from the bedstand (2 inches from the bed). Looked all over the place, no watch.
To make a long story short, I never found the watch until we checked out early the next day and wanted one more look around. I checked under the closet and there it was. Strap totally eaten by something. Must have been the rat we heard walking on the (we thought) roof. But it was walking right from my bedstand underneath our bed to the closet. SO GROWSE!!
Breakfast was awfull too. Fruit unsheltered so covered with flies. Coffee undrinkable. Bread was sprayed with something. Very obvious bread from the previous day. The spraying or whatever made it smell like a pair of old socks.
Really really bad experience. We checked out as soon as possible the day after. We had to pay for another night (fine), but when I told the story of the rat, they said: yes that occurs sometimes. Was it a leather strap, they like that......" Aaargghh!. And with that one would expect that that additional night for checking out early would not have been charged, but they charged that anyway. I'll be sending them the bill of my new strap to offset....

So totally do not go here. We went to Gili Air instead, straight after this, to 'Juliantos by the Sea', we were glad that they had rooms available early. Must be because it recently opened. This was the ideallic and excellent place we could have stayed for weeks.

Over priced, run down and dirty!! We paid around 15 dollars for a double room hut. We excepted it to be basic but not in the state we found it. When we arrived at windy cottages, we were welcomed by the recpetionist, an older guy who was not so friendly. Before he had even showed us to our room he was trying to sell us tickets to go on numerous tours, baring in mind it was very late and we were exhausted. In the room, we found the sheets were damp and didn't smell clean, the shower room was not so pretty and everything looked like it needed replacing. Including the fan which we were too scared to turn on incase it fell off the roof. Breakfast followed suit, not great. Left in the open, so full of flies.

There really isn't any point in making a review but for those who might consider booking here in the next couple of weeks, don't bother and find somewhere else with some soul. The property has recently been sold for redevelopment. It must have been a lovely place, the gardens still have some charm. The staff are disinterested since they know their days are numbered, we haven't had a smile from anyone, they sit around doing nothing. If you want some service you need to find someone to help. The pool has turned green, we have rarely seen the pool attendant. The bar hasn't been stocked, we could buy beer but that's about it. The couple in the next hut are booked until the end of the month but are thinking of moving on. It's already like a ghost hotel. We saw the owner on 1st & 2nd day and not since.

Located along the quite beach of Mangsit (couple of miles north of Senggigi). Mangsit has a very quite beach with really stunning sunsets over the Gunung Agung (Bali): really impressive, which makes it a very cool place to enjoy the afternoon cocktail. The cottages are well equipped, clean and quite. Breakfast is basic but ok! Swimming pool. If you wish you can organize trips to Gili's, but you can also enjoy and relax a bit for a couple of days in a quite environment (away from more hectic Senggigi).

Staying in Lombok for the 1st time we arrived late in the evening due to the public ferry crossing. Pickup was well organized & drivers bombarded us with tour requests i.e. rinjani, komodo, gilis. Upon arriving at windy beach we were welcomed by reception with a refreshment & shown our upgraded huts. Kitchen was closed but dinner was organized for us which was much appreciated. The main grounds is kept quite nicely with daybeds, an open bar & restaurant, an outdoor pool & walking distance to main beach. This is a great little pocket accommodation ideal for 1st time visitors & couples.

The cottages are beautiful, built in the style of rice stores!
Staff are attentive and friendly and the food is great.
Taxi only $1.50 into Sengiggi town
Beach is not crowded and the water clean with some reasonable snorkeling off the beach.
My wife said she had the best massage she has ever had here and it only cost $6.00 for an hour!
