We stayed here three days ago and were so pleased to have chosen to do so. We arrived late- travellers hiring cars at Nice airport coming with BA be aware that you may land at Terminal 1 but you have to get a shuttle bus to Terminal 2 to rent your car , all of which adds a good 3/4 hour, if nor more, to your journey- and the owner made us so welcome, despite having had to stay up till we arrived. The room was spotless and attractive with a view of the garden and we regretted not being there in the summer to enjoy it and the pool, which even in the winter looked blue and inviting! Breakfast in the vast quirky salon downstairs was excellent, croissants, pains au chocolat, pains au raisin, tartes aux pommes, fresh bread with home made jams and really good coffee- tea, too, of course, but I'm not back in France properly if the coffees' s not good! There's a large seating area- in summer out in the garden they have small musical soirées so there's a piano and guitar in a corner and there are interesting artefacts like local artists paintings and a coat stand with pretty hats alongside the piano all adding a bit of something different to the normal run of the mill breakfast rooms of B&Bs! You can come and go as you please as the door's always open and the village centre is two minutes away. Any complaints ? Only that there is no full length mirror in the bedroom and being vain I like to have that, but it's a minor point and the rest is great. Just great. Stay there and prove me right!…
This perfect quaint little hotel was perfect for us. A group of family coming from Scotland for a wedding. Gilles and Violaine, could not of made us and other family in guesthouses around us feel more welcome in to their home. From, having a family BBQ to singing around the piano we felt very much at home and hope that we managed to welcome them into our family. The hotel and rooms themselves were beautiful. Each room was individually decorated and had everything we required. Perhaps the only thing that would of been just perfect was AC. Although seeing the beautiful very old building, very much understand why this is not available. But as Gilles said there is many ongoing little projects so this may be in the pipeline. The garden, just heavenly! So peaceful and full of character and charm. You can see the love and hard work that has been put into it which makes you appreciate it even more. I can honestly say that the holiday would not of been as good without our perfect hosts, Gilles and Violaine. We will be back! And Gilles; "nice to meet you" hahaha…
I stayed with me wife and daughter for four days at L'abri Des Poetes, and it was the most pleasant four days of our 14 days vacation. The owner Gilles and Violaine are extremely attentive towards their guests, and gives lots of good advice on what to see and what to do. The House is - as others also have written - a hidden gem. The rooms are individual decorated and extremely charming. Breakfast is served in the beautiful garden, which Gilles and Violaine have renovated and transformed into a tranquil and very special garden. If you want to stay in a place with its own personality and charm, and in a village that incarnates the idea of a typical Provencal village, this is it.
