Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Me: Can I have wifi? Manager: No, the monkeys ate the cables. Me: can I have some ice? Hotel Manager: only downstairs ( 200 steps down, at the beach level). Me: can I have a mosskito net? H: I'm sorry we don't have any. I could describe all reasons in the world to NOT EVER STAY THERE. Please do not spoil your holiday. Mine was a once in a lifetime. time wasted, time I will never have back.

We stayed in one of the bungalows for 600 tbh per night. The rooms were okay but they were not clean. The sheets had some stains on them and there were a lot of bugs in the bathroom. You only get one tiny roll of toilet paper and when you ask the reception for more they are rude and you almost have to argue with them to get more. We ended up being sick for two days and when going to the reception to ask for new towels the guy working at the reception starts yelling at us because the towels we brought back had stains on them. We were forced to laundry the towels ourselves before getting new ones. I find this behaviour from a hotel unacceptable and will never stay there again!

It was by FAR the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. The rooms are disgusting, bathroom is dirty, toilet not working properly, algae and stains on the sides of the bath. Bedroom walls are dirty and above the bed are brown dirt marks. Paid for a room with a/c but a/c was not working (surprise!). When I went to reception to inform them that the a/c was not working, Mr Somsak, the manager, act like an absolute idiot! He is an extremely rude person with a really bad attitude. No wonder this place is an absolute mess and that most of the reviews are negative. Avoid at all costs!

Me and my boyfriend stayed there for one night and then came back for another few. They gave us a room at the last minute. Really reasonable rate and rooms and clean, with hot water and a simple but nice buffet breakfast. It's on railay east literally a 5 minute walk from the beautiful beach on railay west. It also has a great pool and thee best massage place on the island which was cheap with lovely people! The restaurant was also nice! I really recommend it, the hotel isn't very fancy but it's value for money and everything about our stay was pleasant!

(this review is from the point of view of a year long budget traveller)

We booked the cheapest mountain view building rooms in advance on the internet as it was the busy xmas time.

Arrival is hard work, you either arrive in the mud swamp of Railay east, and have to carry your suitcases on your head through the mangrove, or you arrive on Railay west, and have to take your suitcases through the middle village to get to the other side.

You then have to climb a very steep set of steps to get to reception, then even more steps to get to the accommodation.

On arrival they upgraded us to the pool view rooms as they had availability, which was good of them.
These rooms were modern and spacious with a lovely view.
Unfortunately they also had a nest of red army ants under the wardrobe.

The reception desk immediately upgraded us again to the seaview villas, which were lovely. They had a great balcony and views, big rooms and a bathroom with a bath, though not enough hot water to fill it!

Breakfast was consumed with a stunning view of the bay and mountains. This made the holiday.

The swimming pool was a decent size, kept clean, and had enough deckchairs, again with the stunning bay view.

Overall we had a good stay, but we got rooms worth over 3000 baht for 1800 baht. Wouldn't have paid the 3000, but it was high season.

The views are fantastic, but there are a lot of bugs around (ants, monkeys, lizards...) dont forget, you are in the middle of a rainforest!

The beaches in Railay are just ok, not great, and the water is not very clear. The day trip to Poda island was stunning, with beautiful beaches and water, well worth it.

Now I am not sure what the Lonely Planet editor was smoking when he included that place into their Beaches and Islands edition. There is is trash everywhere.
There is no proper door lock (you may open it with a standard screwdriver) and the reception does not accept valuables or anything else for custody. I was really concerned about my belongings.
It's run down and so far the dirtiest place I have stayed in within Thailand. Housekeeping did not even show up.
To be fair, view and location are great and Wifi worked as well in the reception area. The rate was fairly competitive (only rate was twice the rate I received at walk in).
In short, go someplace else.

We stayed in Bungalow #3 for 4 nights in mid August. We did not read all of the terrible reviews before our stay, and are glad that we didn't because we would have passed up on a nice place to stay on Railay East. This hotel is definitely a bit of a mixed bag in terms of pros and cons, so we would recommend not booking in advance (particularly in low season) just show up, negotiate a deal, and see for yourself if it fits your needs.

Pros:
-Great Views from balconies, pool deck, and lobby area.
-Spacious bungalow and patio that felt private but not too secluded.
-Good price break for multiple night stay lower to midrange rate for Railay of 700 Bhat per night (prices range from as low as 100 Bhat to as much as 5000 Bhat in Railay depending on which beach you stay at and how rustic or luxurious the hotel is).
-Very close to all of the restaurants, bars, and minimarts that are on Railay East Beach. Yes, you do have to walk up nearly 100 stairs to reach your Bungalow, buy who can't use a bit of extra exercise.
-The grounds were scenic and swimming pool was clean, refreshing and had an oceanview.
-A/C, Fan and Hot water all worked well

Cons:
-The bed sheets and towels had stains
-Our bungalow was not cleaned all week, we had to take out the trash and get new bathroom supplies from reception.
-Wifi only avialable near lobby.

Neutral:
-Cleanliness was OK. There was some mold in the bathroom and some small spider webs, but the room was in pretty goof shape otherwise, it is a budget resort in a remote area of Thailand afterall.

-The staff responded to questions and requests with a smile, but didn't go out of their way to make us feel welcome.

dirty bed sheets, bathroom vent covered in black mold, fan full of dust, and a dirty band-aid stuck to the ceiling over the bed. The cat sleeping at reception appeared to be the manager as staff were not to be seen. Read the reviews and pay the $$ to stay somewhere nicer!

Very surprised at the awful reviews, resort is a bit run down and badly needs an update, but still offers plenty of good stuff.
The problem is people's expectations - this is certainly not Club Med, but is much cheaper than the West Railay hotels and still has a nice pool, views and is in a great location in the East side.
Room interior would have been super cool in the 80's as colour of paint and tiles are very old school, but now just look very dated.
The rooms however are clean with aircon/fridge/old tv, and the pool and views from the pool terrace are lovely.
Resort is on the East side of Railay, right above the East side "strip" of bars and restaurants. This makes it quite noisy until into the early hours, but this noise is common to all hotels/resorts in this part. For quiet - head to the West side (but be prepared to pay triple) or keep walking along the East side away from the action to the resorts 5-10 mins walk out of the action.
