Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spent two nights here and would definitely recommend it. Every thing is very clean and fresh looking. All of the staff were very nice. We had dinner and two breakfasts during our stay and the food was excellent. We will definitely come back if we are in this area again.

Visited here for a meal with friends. The food was excellent with a good choice of dishes. Service was good and the restaurant is very smart and clean. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to anyone visiting this area.

Stayed at Beamish Park Hotel for two nights to visit the Beamish museum as the hotel is so close. This is a very mixed review and I feel a little guilty for criticising the place because the staff and service were absolutely brilliant in the hotel and restaurant. On the plus side: the hotel is in a lovely setting with great views. The staff are excellent. The food was pleasant. There was an issue with the bed in the room I had booked and we were immediately upgraded. The bed itself was really comfy. The other facilities in the room met our needs. It was lovely and quiet in our room despite a party downstairs. On the down side: some areas of the hotel are unclean, dated and worn. The carpets are stained and worn in areas. It was really cold despite hot radiators. The windows were not double glazed and it was draughty. Despite its lovely setting there was no view from either room. It feels very strange having to walk through a large room set up as a wedding venue (red carpet and everything) to get to our room. Some people’s rooms are actually in this area. I’m glad I wasn’t one of them. It felt and looked like a motel rather than a hotel. I doubt I will return which is a shame as the location and people were fantastic.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that are in the wedding venue area as access is restricted when weddings are on.

Everything we had asked for was honoured by the hotel before we arrived (bath, quiet location, large bed, disabled access, non-smoking) and the welcome was very friendly, honest and helpful. The room was sizeable and we had direct access via patio doors to our car parking space - a big bonus. We had an evening meal on the first night, and were pleased with the portion sizes, although the peppers on the katsu curry were very hot and spicy. For me the highlight was the breakfast service. Two of the staff in particular couldn't do enough to make sure we had everything we needed and were very engaging.

Hotel appearance is very good, bar and restaurant has tasteful decor and staff were first class. Excellent service from all staff in these areas. Bedroom was clean, however housekeeping lets everything down - even after complaining. We stayed for a few nights and nothing improved during our stay. I

We stayed here for one night as a Birthday treat for me after visiting the Beamish museum. It's a pretty hotel, especially the dining room with stunning views across the countryside. Our evening meal was very nice and we were well pleased with the room. The bed was very large and extremely comfy, the room was a good size and all seemed in good order. We settled in for the night expecting a good night's sleep, but alas it was not to be. There seemed to be some sort of party going on with a lot of very drunk and loud youngsters. Throughout the night they walked up and down the hall outside our room shrieking and yelling and loudly shouting the bridal march (due to the hallway being decked out for a wedding for some reason) this went on for hours, until 2 or 3 am. We wanted to ring reception, as the welcome leaflet stated dial 0 for reception, but there was no phone! In the morning my husband complained as neither of us had slept at all, and was told there should have been 2 night porters to stop it from happening. I can only assume they fell asleep! It's such a shame as it's a lovely place, but it needs some signage and staff to stop inconsiderate guests ruining it for everybody else. Won't be going back.

Very poor dated, tired room with a thread bare carpet. Charged £242 because it was “the same weekend as Great North Run and we’re very busy”Unfortunately we were at an event close by and didn’t have a lot of choice but to pay up in the hope it would be a nice room. Booked in February for September. They even emailed the day before arrival to ask for full payment for the reservation even though this hadn’t been mentioned when booked. I can understand they would perhaps feel justified in charging a little more due to GNR but 70 % more!! Extortion springs to mind.

A nice welcome at reception and quickly shown to our room. Unfortunately there were problems with the electrics which the receptionist tried to resolve but we had to wait for the maintenance man to be available. We wanted to shower and after a while we asked to move rooms. The next room was better but both rooms were in need of renovation and were looking ‘ tired ‘. A comfortable nights sleep in the king size bed. Breakfast was very good, especially the sausages. Overall lovely staff and nice location but needs some money spending on the fabric. We did notice some rooms being refurbished.
