Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow what can I say, we visited this site 15 years ago when we had a tent and we cannot believe how much this site has changed. Beautiful and well kept site and all the site looks so lovely and shower block is spotless and very nice. We would recommend this site to anyone. Wardens work very hard and are so friendly and even have chance to talk to you. Thank you so much Louise, you should be so proud of what a lovely gem of a site you have

We camped at South Lea this past weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The camping field was well presented and close to the kids play area. We had a warm welcome, and were given some useful local information. The toilet and shower block was very clean. The amenities such as bins and washing-up sinks are very central so are close to all of the accommodation. If I were to suggest some improvements - perhaps a fridge with milk + cold drinks for purchase would be handy in the reception cabin, and some additional children's play apparatus in the playground would be good. The site is ideally placed for day trips. We went to York, Beverly, Market Weighton, Knaresborough, Selby, and Harrogate during our short stay. We would happily visit South Lea again in future.

We didnt know what to expect of the site as we've only ever stayed in Dunnington before but now we can't speak more highly of it at all. We've only just got home & we can't wait for our next visit in September. To start with it was very well signposted & so easy to find then on arrival as soon as we pulled onto the site we were given a lovely warm welcome where everything was explained. Nothing was too much trouble during our stay. The owners & wardens were all so happy, friendly & helpful especially Louise who sent us a lovely email on our second morning saying the weather wasn't too good & she gave us several options & suggestions of things to do & places to visit. All the facilities were spotless each time we used them, the water was free & hot they had a free hair drier in the ladies toilet / shower block too. The childrens play area was brilliant & kept my 9 year old Nephew happy for the entire stay at South Lea, he didn't want to leave & now can't wait to return. Our dog was quite at home here too they have a large grass dog walk area which was always spotless which is very unusual these days! Overall the site itself was very well looked after very quiet & peaceful which surprised us with it being more or less full the week we were there. To say there is a main road just outside the gates & even when there were a few kids playing out it was still really quiet & peaceful. It's a site that has lots of things to do within quite a short distance so it's an ideal base for people wanting to sightsee & they have a bus stop right outside the gate for people who don't feel like driving about.

This is a great site. The welcome is second to none, easy check in. Choice (subject to availability) of pitch. Gravel pitch, all level, nicely spaced and surrounded by flower beds. The bathrooms, although not super modern, are immaculately clean and lashings of piping hot water. We even saw the team cleaning the kids playground equipment..... Wonderful site, run by very nice, friendly people. I cannot recommend this site enough.

We chose South Lea as a base from which to visit Pocklington and the Yorkshire Wolds. First the good points: 1. Good location 1.5 miles from Pocklington centre; well-placed for visits to Yorkshire Wolds, Beverley, Hull and York; 2. Very good site facilities - toilet block very good; well-organised waste recycling; tourist information in reception hut; 3. Flat, spacious camping field 4. Friendly and helpful site owners and wardens. Now the 'not so good' bits... 1. NOISE from the nearby A1079 Hull to York road was very intrusive and affected the amenity of the site and sleep. Light sleepers need earplugs. 2. Although just 1.5 miles from centre of Pocklington part of the walk into the centre is along a busy road with no pavements... not a pleasant experience. All in all, a good site spoiled by intrusive road noise.

Didn't book in advance, saw the sign from the main road, but they managed to accommodate my motor-home with a friendly smile and very helpful too, even though it was spring Bank Holiday Monday. Lovely views, and pitches are spacious and are not cramped together. Even though I was by the children's play area, it was still quiet, just a little traffic noise from the main road. the (Ladies) toilets were lovely and warm, and showers FREE - so was the hair-dryer -a bonus . Also lots of room in the showers with plenty of hooks for all your bags and clothes inside the shower too. Thank you for that South Lea Other guests were very friendly and smiled. For a big site that was unexpected. Lovely walks around the campsite. Local information leaflets available in reception. Pocklington is a very pleasant market town. Try the home made sausage rolls from the butchers, yum,yum Thank you very much South Lea, and I hope to visit again soon.

The site is well laid out with attractive planting. The pitches have hard standings on which you pitch your van and awning. Despite being told that "we run a free and easy site" we still had to pitch in a regimented manner. The shower block for ladies has wash basins but no privacy curtains for them. The showers are very clean but not very powerful. The toilets do not flush very well - took several attempts to flush solids away. The facilities are kept very clean though. However, on a positive note the site is very handy for York and there are plenty of takeaways in Pocklington as well as Sainsbury's and Aldi for groceries.

Facilities spotless, people very friend and helpful, no screaming kids just lots of lovely doggies. My only small criticism is the WiFi isn't great, but if you can live without that, you can't go wrong with this site. Pub 2 mins away from the site as well with great views over the Trent :-)

Still being quite new 'caravannists' we thought a York weekend was in order. This site is just two hours away and what a find. Louise who greeted us was very warm and welcoming. The pitch was just fine, loo & showers immaculately clean and the entire site was clean and tidy. One small gripe is that there is a 'post 10.30pm quiet rule' and our neighbours had an awning full of folk yakking & hooting well after 11pm. Luckily they moved a few vans down to another awning the following evening!
