Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After trawling every hotel booking site for hotels in and around York for a 2 night stay ( Monday/Tuesday ) for a no frills room and coming up with prices around the £400 mark we decided to widen our search area, (as much as we love York the hotels priced at the £400 mark were very basic Travel lodge/ Premier Inn and not at all worth that sort of money. ) we came across Yorkway Motel via Trip advisor, the reviews were 95% positive, so we booked and I have to say what a gem of a find.

•Ideally located 20-30 mins from York itself with easy accessible roads.
•Small basic comfortable rooms.
•All on ground level and fairly wheelchair user friendly.
•Spotlessly clean.
• Towels provided.
•Tea/coffee / Fresh mugs replenished daily.
•Beds made daily.
• No tired, stained marks around the bath/Shower.
.• Car parking directly outside your room.

The Spokes bar/restaurant is a lovely cosy area serving a small menu catering for all. Breakfast is included in the price of the room.
Evening meals are served between 6pm - 8pm and very reasonably priced ( I would recommend the steak) beautiful presentation.
The staff were amazing, and very attentive.
The owners are very hands on and we’re also very friendly.
All in all, for the type of stopover we were looking for I really can’t fault it.
If I could have any request on how to improve our stay, it would only be to have a brighter main light in the room as It wasn’t too bright for titivating oneself .
We will definitely be returning.
Well done Team Yorkway .

I have just got back from my 2 night stay. What should’ve been a room merely booked for a 3 day work trip away….turned into the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

I rang reception before making the trip down who were more than accommodating and allowed me to check in earlier than originally planned.

When I got to the desk, the gentlemen was warm, welcoming, chatty - a true host.

The room was perfect, I can’t tell you what I expected from a Motel but it certainly wasn’t the standard that I was greeted by…it all seemed too good to be true!
There was PLENTY of milk, coffee, sugars, tea to have a drink in the room and everything was cleaned to the highest standard.

I booked in to have food at the bar/grill and the waitress was warm and friendly. I didn’t catch her name but she clearly took pride in her work. Her attention to detail is what really made me smile, and I’m sure it did for others, the little things like remembering your drink order on the second night from the night before.

I felt the staff went above and beyond their roles and took a true pride in their work here at the Yorkway Motel and highly recommend.

On arriving at the Yorkway you get to park right outside the room. Very handy. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. Shower is superb with great hot water, which was grand after a day working.
The staff at the Yorkway are utterly superb!!! I didn’t book this place but me and my workmate couldn’t have been luckier!! Such such lovely people work at & look after you here. The restaurant & bar is cosy and comfortable and extremely well priced! The home cooked food is incredible where they actually go out their way to make you happy, cheers Julia & Trish!!!
Thanks The Yorkway. Brilliant!!!

Ridiculous website does not give accurate information. The owners are clearly in the market of losing business. While our first visit was five star it is now below one as it says open from 12 until 2.30pm yet we were told upon arrival they don't serve food on a Saturday afternoon!!!!

Ridiculous! Won't be back as they said last year on a Sunday they stopped serving food at 2 - we arrived at 1.30.

Avoid at all costs!!!

This was our first overnight stay away from home after some of the restrictions were lifted in early July. We were completely satisfied with all aspects of the trip in terms of customer service, quality and safety.

The avoidance of narrow hotel corridors gives the Yorkway an immediate advantage. Social distancing in the bar area worked well with drinks brought to our table.

We both had Steak & Ale pie and chips for dinner which was as good as we hoped. Breakfast was very good too with food cooked to order.

The room was spacious and comfortable. WiFi worked very well throughout the motel. The bathroom was large and the shower was really good. Plenty of room and the option of a rainfall or power shower.

The hard working owners were always on hand and made us feel very welcome. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Tastefully decorated room with a lovely large powerful hot shower, convenient (as our son lives locally), tasty food., well stocked bar. The staff even gave our son and girlfriend a lift home - saving them a walk, whilst allowing them to leave their car there to pick up the next day. It’s about a 30 mins drive from York.

We have stayed at this hotel whilst visiting relatives over the last few years. Always friendly and efficient staff and the rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfasts are tasty with plenty of coffee etc on tap. The restaurant provides a selection of evening meals cooked to a very good standard. Being able to park right outside the room is an added bonus.
This hotel is a very good base for exploring the York and East Riding area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Yorkway. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and we liked the fact that you can park directly outside of the room. There is a busy road nearby but we didn't see this as a problem as the traffic doesn't seem to pass at night much.

The breakfast was great, quickly served and was tasty.

It is very convenient for a visit to York and easy to travel into the city. We preferred staying outside of York as this was quieter and easier for us too.

We would definitely stay here again if we were visiting the area and therefore would recommend to anyone that this is a great place to stay.

Not entirely certain but they are very helpful and accommodating you have to vacate by 10am so I suppose it would really depend on how busy they are and how quick they can turn the room round for you.
