The Setting: The hotel really is a little hidden gem of Bromley, I first knew about this place because I used to book rooms for stock takers for a company called OCS so I thought I would check it out. The grounds are beautiful and whilst it has been updated; it hasn't lost is rustic regal charm. It was beautifully...

We have been going to Bickley Manor for many years now and are aware of all the new work that is going into it. We were looking forward to seeing how much it had changed and it did not disappoint. Rooms have been re-done and they are still doing more. The staff were knowledgeable and polite. We were greeted by...

We went to the Great Gatsby’s New Year’s Eve celebration and I must say it was truly wonderful. Complimentary champagne on arrival, canapés and cocktails before even sitting down, set the evening off so nicely. The meal itself was outstanding. Six courses, all of which were lovely. The smoking sushi was a particular highlight of mine. My husband loved the...

Usually not keen on New Year's Eve events but the Gatsby Themed party we attended last night at Bickley Manor has converted me.. Have known of this family run hotel for many years really noticed a huge change due to recent refurbishments. The Art Deco bar in the downstairs entertainment area was stylish. The food delicious and beautifully presented. I...

A lovely old manor hotel. With new management in place now it's being steered back to glory. Beautiful architecture inside & the gardens outside make this a perfect location for weddings. All the staff were very helpful, friendly & professional. I will definitely come back to stay here again.

The hotel and restaurant is heading towards the end of a major refurbishment under its new management, and having known it before and seeing it now I can fully understand some of the earlier reviews. It is now a brighter, more modern place with people in charge who know what they want to achieve. Three of us had an excellent...

Stayed in room 11 whilst attending a local function (not at this hotel) - thought it was not good for value but was the only real option at the time (different now). There were a couple of parties taking place so was quite noisy for most of the night (quietened down after 3am). Room was small but clean. Breakfast was...

We booked 3 rooms in January for a stay in November. We asked if we could pay a deposit on the rooms, but were advised that they didn't take deposits, you paid on arrival. We received email confirmation of the booking. We reconfirmed every couple of months. The last contact we had with the hotel was us calling to reconfirm...

The 2nd 2 bedrooms were annex rooms off...

Selva di Val Gardena, Italy

I posted a review for the Bickley Manor Hotel very recently.

My wife and I find it amazing, how " far down the slippery slope " the hotel has gone since we were there last. Albeit that it is years since we last stayed there.

It would seem apparent that one reason the hotel remains in business, is that it raises revenue from hiring various rooms to clubs, groups and societies, and minor car parking fees from visitors to the near by Bromley High School, rather than dedicating its main function of being an hotel offering high standards of all its facilities.

We were astounded that three previous reviewers, were full of praise, and yet there were no poor reviews, nor any average reviews at all. It makes us wonder how come ! Did they stay in a different hotel to ourselves ? From my experiences, this is the second worse 'hotel' that I have stayed at in many a long year. Such a pity that it happens to be in England.

The web site linked to Trip Advisor shows numerous images of the grounds and wedding groups, pictures of the grounds and table settings. When I see this on the internet I always suspect that the management are hiding something. In this case it is true.

Having said that, previous guests to The Bickley Manor have posted two photos of a tiny room - the foot of the double bed is only approximately 600mm from the wall. That is much more typical of the accommodation.

Perhaps as we have put our honest reviews on Trip Advisor, then others who will subsequently stay there, may well be more likely to do the same. That might, just might, encourage the management to instigate major improvements. Better still someone with aspirations to develop an hotel could buy them out and start again from scratch.
