Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked into the crown as we were attending a 100th birthday nearby. The staff were friendly and professional. The manager was exceptionally helpful, and despite being extremely busy, he took the time to arrange transport for us. The room was clean and of a high standard. We enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend this hotel.

I understand the hotel has recently been renovated and it has been done very well. We stayed in a small boutique room at the back of the hotel and as such, couldn't hear any noise from downstairs at all. The room was well furnished and the bathroom especially is lovely. We really enjoyed the breakfast, a very good choice given there are only seven rooms and very well cooked on both mornings. There are only 4 spaces for parking but there seemed to be plenty of on road parking. Chislehurst is a very nice area with a few restaurants within walking distance and we especially enjoyed The Cockpit micro pub on the next road. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again if in the area

As good a pub/small hotel experience as i have had. Room was super comfortable and beautifully furnished. Setting overlooking the village green is attractive. Breakfast this morning in the lovely dining room was very, very good. A quality refurbishment and great service/staff. Value.

A lovely pub with rooms. The rooms are decorated to a really high standard and were good value for the area. The bedding is high quality and the rooms were laid out nicely. We stayed in one of the boutique rooms right above the pub. In the rooms, there were 2 little sources of frustration: the duvet was very thick for the summer - I’d think it was 13.5 tog and no sheets were provided for those who didn’t want a thick duvet and the fan provided was a large industrial one that was too noisy and powerful to sleep with. Not a major thing but if you prefer your room cool, it’s annoying. However breakfast was very poor considering the quality of the pub. Scrambled egg on toast - the toast was burnt and the eggs were overcooked. Scrambled eggs should be smooth and silky not hard and dry. The chef just has the pan too hot and they overcooked quickly However, the English Breakfast was just plain cold. Not a single item was hot! Which I assume means the items had just been kept warm. I’m sorry but there is no excuse for serving cold items! And to have everything from sausage to rosti to beans as lukewarm as best is poor. Quality of items were good but just bad control of temperatures! The chef seemed too busy being cocky with the waiting staff, I just wished he’d spent more time heating the food properly. And no teaspoons served with hot drinks which makes it very hard to stir milk into tea - another silly mistake that shouldn’t have been made! The Breakfast let down a good stay unfortunately

First time at The Crown since its refurbishment, we called in for Lunch today and had a lovely meal in the new light and bright restaurant. The food was good and plentiful ( we had the burger and chips today and a dessert) it was nice to see the restaurant busy even though it was midweek. We will certainly call in again. What would be nice to see would be a fish starter eg Smoked Salmon or a seafood cocktail of some kind. We could not find a starter that we would have liked but that it a matter of taste and everyone is different. The staff made us very welcome. Well done to everyone especially behind the scenes in the kitchen.

Booked a two night stay and was delighted with the stay. Room - A newly refurbished boutique bedroom, our double room was spacious and luxurious. Bed and pillows super comfortable. Tea & coffee facilities in room. En suite was lovely and the toiletries were a nice touch. Smart Tv and good wifi. Everything was clean and dust free. Housekeeping is offered and a replenishment of towels, toiletries, tea and coffee if staying more than one night. Location - The location is pleasant and overlooks Chislehurst Common. Parking was not a problem with lots of space on road outside the premises. Breakfast was fab and a great choice, the dining room was beautiful. Outside there is a spacious courtyard. Staff were friendly, professional and extremely accommodating with any requests we had. Will be staying again in the near future.

Popped in for a drink on father's day. Asked if we could order some food and were told no because they were worried about the kitchen being over run with orders, with it being father's day. As we were sat on the bar side, they said we would not be able to order food. When we were leaving it was very quiet in the dining area and in the outside area there were people able to get food and the table beside us (In the bar area) was able to have food. Disappointed by what has been a great pub in the area for ages. I would have the management reconsider their own expectations on refusing customers who would are happy spend hard earned money in their pub. Passed the bull afterwards, which was full of people and atmosphere.

We stayed the night but wish we stayed for much longer. The Rooms have a luxury feel to it, the bed was beautiful and had the most peaceful sleep. I would recommend eating here when staying the night as all the food we both had was to die for. Staff are also very nice and welcoming

We went to the Crown in Chislehurst for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. Beautiful, tasty, proper beef, fab roast potatoes and seasonal veg and a fabulous Yorkshire pudding - not to mention proper gravy and great staff. It looks like the restaurant and outside areas have been refurbished since I last went and it looks really nice. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Popped into the Crown today Asked if they were showing the West Ham Crystal Palace game on the 4 TVs that they have They said yes Then proceeded to put the TVs on, then basically gave up Popped out into the garden for a cigarette thinking that they were in the process of putting the game on But to my surprise, no one was bothering Find it very disappointing as I have watched a lot of football matches in this pub in the last three years They spent 1.4 million doing it up and it looks really good. There were five staff in the bar area. I sat at a table, hoping that somebody would put it on and they didn’t, and when I left not one person could even be bothered to say goodbye or thank you So I have voted with my feet and went somewhere else
