Whilst staying for a few days in the quaint hamlet of Stodmarsh we decided to visit the Red Lion despite reading one or two adverse comments following new ownership and were so glad we did.It was a very chilly evening and we were welcomed by a roaring log fire and a cheery lady who showed us to a table close... Very welcoming and attractive place, there was a lovely roaring fire on the go which was just the ticket on a chilly day like today. The wine list is extensive but not expensive, with friendly helpful advice if your stuck for choice. Meals were good, could have been slightly larger. Well worth a visit if your in the area

Well established country pub -popular with bird twitchers -went for Sunday lunch -food was good except red cabbage not for me on my roast beef -green veg would have cheered up the presentation -good menu for lunch -staff excellent but very pricey for lunch .

We have just returned from a night away at The Red Lion, the staff and owner were lovely. The room was just right with a really nice country cottage feel (even though we we above a pub) Food was great both at dinner and breakfast. I could spend many a weekend here just wasting time with good food, drink and... More

What a fabulous place. Old, unique and so so friendly. We tried to stay here on Friday and Saturday, but unfortunately they were full but offered us other accommodation at Stodmarsh Court just 2 mins up the road at Carol and Richards. Well words cannot express the delightful apartment above a garage, next to the stables. It was so modern... More

We stayed in Stodmarsh for a week and the Red Lion was our local. How lucky are we! It's one of those pubs that makes you welcome the minute you open the door. The owners Richard and Carol are the epitome of good innkeepers. Welcoming visitors and making everyone feel relaxed. At the same time they are attending to every... More

Stayed two nights in this idyllic pub. Unbelievable environment. Real countryside. Good for visits to Canterbury, Whitstable and the ...white cliffs of Dover. Great dinner and breakfast at the fireplace. Romantic with big R. Don't tell anyone about this hidden gem.
