We stayed at Patty's Barn (Swooping Swallow) for 3 weeks whilst on holiday from Australia. As always a little nervous when booking accommodation so far from home, but we needn't had worried. Margaret was extremely flexible working with us when trying to decide room sizes (5 family members) and payment details. Always responsive to emails in a very timely fashion. On arriving at the accommodation, we found the family to be extremely welcoming. A seamless arrival and everything already set up for us. The accommodation is excellent. Very comfortable, warm with central heating and a full kitchen. All utensils, pans, crockery etc. to enable you to cook like home (only downside, if you intend on going on picnics, bring your own tupperware lol). The environment is second to none. So peaceful, beautiful countryside surroundings (plus lots of delightful farm animals and amazing bird watching), fantastic walks and drives locally and even a little further afield. You will need a car at this accommodation. Despite the fact it is quite isolated, it is within easy access to local towns (Garstang) and cities (Lancaster, Preston, Blackpool and Morecambe). Very easy access to the motorway (M6), approx. 15 mins. Availability of local pubs, fish n chip shops etc. Big bonus - The parachuting company next door. So lovely to see the planes each day and the people parachuting from the planes. Do not be put off by what you might think as noise - the planes only take off and land at very reasonable hours (certainly not when you're wanting to sleep). We cannot speak highly enough of this lovely family. Margaret and her daughters are very friendly, very attentive and responsive to your needs. Nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Margaret and family. We will be back.

Can’t recommend this place enough… immaculately clean, spacious house. Homely feel with everything you need. On our way home from a week here and loved it! Handy for Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster and other sites. Gorgeous scenery. The kids loved the play barn. I used the gym, and we all loved watching the parachutes take off and land!

Had an amazing stay, beautiful rural location with easy access to larger roads for day trips. Clean, modern gorgeous barn with all the amenities we could need. Margaret and family were lovely and friendly with a warm welcome. We especially loved the games room with things suitable for our 2 year old & ourselves, the air hockey machine is a firm fav. We managed to watch the skydivers land on our walk one morning before heading out too. We were very happy to stay here during pandemic as clean and well out of the way of hustle and bustle and would love to stay again!

We had the most wonderful stay in October 2020 - Margaret and her lovely family have literally thought of everything! The cottages are warm and cosy, with fresh bedding and towels. The facilities are truly outstanding-a gym, a laundry room, the most instagrammable games room and a wonderful covered outdoor dining space which becomes magical at night with the festive and fairy lights all around. We have 3 boys and the games room is exceptional- table tennis, pool, air hockey, board games. As soon as they kids got up in the morning they were straight over to play. Margaret was super kind to let us store our bikes in a safe storage area when not in use. We often had a chat with Michelle and her lovely pup and it's so special to hear how they have converted and cared for the buildings over the years. There is cycling and walking routes direct from the front door. And if you are lucky you'll see a few parachutes and sky divers too. So many local restaurants and ice cream parlours nearby- the choice is endless. Also great hillwalking too to suit all ages and capabilities. Patty's Barn is a little slice of heaven and we can't wait to return! Thank you so much Margaret and Michelle! xx

We have just had a week up north and stayed at Patty’s Barn. The accommodation was great - spotlessly clean, very comfortable and spacious. It’s quite versatile with stuff for families with young children to. Family own and run the cottages so were on hand to help and advise if anything was needed. Although very rural location it was literally 10 minutes from Lancaster city centre by car. We were easily able to get to other places such as Morecambe and Lytham & St Anne’s as the roads are in good order. If it’s the countryside you’re after, it’s literally outside the front door - lots of beautiful walks and scenery - birds, owls, hares - it’s all going on - including the odd parachutists falling from the sky - amazing😊 All in all would recommend this lovely place for a great outdoors countryside staycation with easy access to other areas.

Just returned from a weekend break with another family of 4. The owners could not have been more welcoming on arrival. The games room is currently under refurbishment but the owners went out of their way to set it up for our group and make it a fun space to play table tennis and table football. The accommodation itself was perfect. Very spacious, beautifully furnished and very well equipped. We have not visited this area before so it was great watching the parachutes landing in the field next to the house. We enjoyed an early morning run along the coastal path which was easily accessible and we found some lovely walks in the local area. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

We travel all over the uk for work. This was our second year at patty’s Barn. Another brilliant stay. For work or play I highly recommend this place. Clean with loads of space. I even got my wife and children to come down for the weekend. The airfield for the parachute people on site only runs on a Saturday and it’s really cool!

Just back from a 4 night stay at the wonderful Pattys Barn , we were looking for a last minute break for school half term and tumbled upon Pattys Barn . From communications for the booking to arrival and every part of our stay everything was first class . We had cottage 6 which was suitable for 2 adults and 2 children , with the children single beds been in the upstairs gallery landing , and adult double bedroom downstairs. Excellent location to explore the local area , 50 minutes from the lakes , and lots of lovely walks on the doorstep . We were very happy with all the facilities , kids loved the play barn and the surroundings . Barn was great and have everything we needed , including good Wi Fi for the kids . We really enjoyed our stay , and will definitely book again soon and recommend this to our friends and family . Keep up the good work .

We visited at October half term with 3 generations of family. The accommodation was outstanding! Spacious, warm, beautifully furnished. The kitchen had everything you could wish for including a slow cooker! There were games and dvds if we hadn't thought to bring our own. The views within a few yards of the front door were beautiful. We really enjoyed watching the parachuting (very reasonably priced basic cafe for visitors) although I could understand other reviewers saying it gets busy in high season. We certainly didn't find it a problem in October. Margaret personally called on us after we had just arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. During a power cut (covering the whole lane) we rang and she came down with candles and matches, nothing was too much trouble. Road links were good, we visited Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth, Garstang and Beacon Fell to name a few. We also enjoyed a fabulous Sunday Roast at The Manor Inn in the village. There is an Aldi and and Sainsbury's in nearby Garstang to stock up from and a visit to Walling's Ice cream farm is a must. Try apple pie flavour, it was amazing! We can't wait to book again!

Perfect location for a getaway on the edge of an estuary. The studio type apartment we rented offered everything we needed to be self sufficient and our hosts provided the perfect level of support if required (which we didn’t although when notified of our delayed arrival we were asked if we needed any milk or coffee etc which was unexpected and a most welcomed gesture from our hosts). Spotlessly clean presentation of the accommodation which was wonderfully warm and cozy on arrival after a long journey. Very comfortable seating and bed which just added to a pleasurable stay. Full amenities are on offer for washing and cleaning etc, and there are local pubs and restaurants in the area if needed. I would certainly look to return when next in the area.
