We spent one night at The Fleece Inn on our way to Scotland. It was excellent. Comfy and welcoming. The rooms are the best I have stayed in. Comfortable beds and superb linen. Great shower in bathroom. Everything in the room including hot drinks for you to make if you wish. The food was also excellent and very well presented.... More

Needed an overnight stop close to M6 travelling North and found this place - delightful . Very welcoming , refurbished room with super new bathroom , great food and drinks including great real ales . Not much else in Dolphinholme but this place is well worth seeking out - they do a wonderful breakfast too !

Friendly staff, good food at sensible prices, real country pub ambience, log fires, good selection of beers. the building itself is a gem. The lunch menu is excellent value for money, two courses for £10, don't think this means lower quality or typical pub chain food, we've been a few times and it's proper food!

This is a lovely welcoming inn with a friendly atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is worth every penny. The bar may not have the regular beers on tap but they are replaced by guest beers of equal standard The only drawback is that the fleece is 'out in the sticks' but your walk there... More

Log fires, friendly staff and excellent food at a reasonable price, everything you would want from a country pub. We've been twice and will be going back, probably one of the few country pubs that will survive as they offer good food at a reasonable price.

A real gem. We travel a lot with our business so my husband and I are always looking for places to stay that aren't 'chain' hotels as we like places with character and good food. When you stay somewhere like The Fleece you know the staff will look after you because they genuinely care. Roaring fire, wonderful food, delicious coffee... More

Stayed for one night, nice but bit disappointing. On check in the room was very cold, both radiators turned off !! Not a very nice welcome on a cold day ! Lovely room but spoilt by that, and noise from below which i assume is the kitchen, sounded like a washing machine on full spin and the floor actually vibrated... More

We ate in the bar which had a good choice of well prepared dishes. Unlike some places where the menu descriptions are long and the dishes sometimes a let-down, here some are even more interesting than described. This is definitely preferable. I particularly enjoyed the duck rilettes with mini toffee apples starter, and my partner's main of chicken wrapped in... More

We stopped here for lunch - a little late for lunchtime but nevertheless there were no problems. We had the standard two course lunch, main course and dessert. For mains we had fish and chips and gammon and chips. Everything was freshly prepared and very good quality. Service was prompt and friendly. As we were at the end of the... More
