We had a lovely overnight stay this weekend. Found the hotel by googling country pubs with rooms! The rooms were lovely and all decorated differently with views over the river. We ate in the restaurant and had a very pleasant meal. We did wait ages and it appeared that our order hadn't gone through to the kitchen but the staff...

The Cartford Inn is one of those places that never fails to disappoint but yet has much praise heaped upon it. A total mystery, as food is at best ordinary and rather amateur, staff seemingly part-time and untrained and what one takes to be management superiorly indifferent to complaints or observations. Not quite the level of Faulty Towers but showing...

We stayed on a Friday night. This is obviously a very popular local pub/restaurant, arriving after a long drive - there is no reception - we had to find someone at the busy bar to check us in and help us. The room was comfortable not large( even though this was their largest double). The ensuite shower room was well...

Arrived on a Tuesday for a 2 night stay. Staff friendly and made us feel welcome. Room number 8 was excellent, clean and all the facilities were great, my only complaint was that the pillows could have been comfier. This is a destination pub and therefore needs to keep it's quality high. The restaurant was chockablock both evenings which says...

We arrived at this hotel on Saturday afternoon and the staff were so friendly, warm welcoming and attentive. We were checked straight in and all personally shown to our (4) rooms, which were boutique style and of high quality / class. The beds were very comfortable and we had a decent nights sleep. Breakfast was well presented with a range...

Fabulous as always. The venison suet pudding was awesome!! We had a prime table overlooking the river. Excellent wine as well. Was getting nicely busy as we left ! We had Olives to start , plenty of variety coated in olive oil. I was going to have a dessert , but I was just too full!!

We met some friends at the Cartford Inn, based on their recommendation and were very impressed. This is a traditional pub that has been taken over, extended and improved. Based on the quality of the food, service and good experiences it has clearly carved a niche for itself and despite being set in a semi rural location, attract custom from...

I fell in love with this place from the moment I arrived, however, it was let down badly at 11:20PM till mid-night, see end of report for more details. The room (5) was, as in the pictures, everything was top marks, coffee was ground not instant rubbish. The staff were very friendly, the views over the river & fields were...

I made a special visit here because friends and colleagues have been telling me for years how great it is. The reality was a bit different. The room was quite small and didn't even have a desk or anywhere else to put a laptop. The en suite bathroom even smaller and the shower was one of those where it's impossible...
