Le Perchoir des Paons is a stone farm house around 300 years old with lovely views across a valley. It's set in a quiet hamlet on the outskirts of the tiny village of Gindou in the Lot, halfway between the Rivers Dordogne and Lot and within easy reach of the beautiful old market towns of Sarlat and Cahors. Perfectly located for visiting the Chateaux, Caves and Vineyards of the area or relaxing by our pool.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently stayed here as a lone traveller as part of a yoga retreat. Susie and Mike were the perfect hosts, the accommodation was of a high standard and the food prepared at meal times was delicious. I would highly recommend it as a place to stay to explore the local area and hope to return one day!

I have just returned from a fabulous weeks art holiday at Le Perchoirs des Paons. I was initially quite nervous returning to art after many years break but Susie and Mike very quickly put me at ease. Susie was patient and encouraging and taught me how to use new media and techniques, so much so, that it has kick started a new love of art. Mike was the perfect host preparing amazing meals with Susie, which has helped to expand my waistline somewhat! The course has a capacity for 8 people but on this occasion there were fewer. It was great to meet people from all walks of life, parts of the world and varying ages. Some had been on the holiday before and others such as myself were newcomers, we were all made to feel welcome and conversation and laughter flowed. We ate together either inside in the cosy but large living room, if the weather was inclement, or on the terrace outside. We were taken on several trips to beautiful surrounding towns and villages to help with inspiration for our next works of art. I stayed in the double room with ensuite which was charming and in keeping with the style of the house, with a great view of the grounds and the stunning countryside. It was so peaceful there and easy to sleep soundly. This was an experience I will not forget and hope to repeat. I would highly recommend it to anyone who woud like to improve or learn new art skills and who loves the countryside, great food, good wine and fantastic company.

I had the family room in the top floor and it was spacious and comfortable with everything I needed. Fresh flowers in a vase added a nice personal touch. Shared a bathroom but that was fine. The building is a 300 year old farmhouse with beautiful stonework and exposed beams. The surrounding gardens have multiple areas for relaxing in the shade and admiring the views. Quite and peaceful with just the sounds of birds and occasional dog barking in the distance. A lovely pool area also. I was there on one of their summer/autumn art retreats and could not fault the hosts' hospitality and food and wine provided. The art studio was extremely well equipped with all mediums and a variety of art subject matter provided, with trips to small villages included. All in all a truly wonderful experience in the heart of Southern France.

I did a weeks painting holiday in October and it was much better that I'd ever anticipated. Susie and Mike are very experienced and attentive, great tour guides and hosts. Suzie is a wonderful art tutor, she make lessons fun, varied and usfeful and I was impressed at how she nurtures peoples differing styles and level s of expertise from beginner to professional. The area is beautiful (we got a taste during some art excursions) and the meals, made from locally sources ingredients are unfailingly divine. I'd definately recommend this great value art holiday.

Mike and Susie have the B&B business totally nailed. The house and location are just perfect. Everything is immaculate. Mike and Susie are exemplary hosts, making every member of our family group of 5 (age ranges 15- 55) most welcome and relaxed. Food is top notch, wine and conversation flow generously - Dougie provides the floor show, having taken the mantle for this important task from Ben and advancing the props from wasps to lizards. As others have said Susie's artistic flair is a feature which adds individuality throughout. This was our third short stay and we would recommend Le Perchoir to anyone of any age who appreciates the unique qualities of the Lot region and is looking for somewhere which provides a welcome and excellent value.

Our second stay in 6 years, it is always dangerous to go back to somewhere you loved first time, it we were not dissapointed. This is a wonderful B&B in a perfect region. The quality of the property, food etc. is excellent and the company of the hosts Susie and Mike is always pleasant. Our little boy was also welcomed thoroughly. Thanks again, and if you are looking for something in this area, I recommend giving them a call.

I stayed a week here and enjoyed not only the lovely area but the warm hospitality of Susie and Mike. My bedroom (room 2) was large and had everything that I needed. The food was wonderful, and the wines! Mike and Susie were the perfect hosts, so welcoming and with lots of ideas for places to visit. I fell in love with the gardens of the area but there is plenty more to see. The house is situated on a hillside and is very secluded. The pool was very refreshing and there are plenty of places in the garden to relax and unwind.

I have just returned after travelling with some friends in SW France. We stayed with Mike and Susie for two nights and they were wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble (even when we needed to reorganised our planned evening meal to the following night!). Beautiful house which instantley makes you feel at home. The pool was a great place to relax. Hopefully one day we will return.
