Just visited the five bells and had early evening meal. Had game pie and veg with chips. Pie was one of the best I have ever had. Veg a little well done for my likeing but overall very very good. Beer was also first class.

This is my local pub and we visit it quite a bit and I have to say the food is delicious and reasonably priced. It is good if you only want a snack or a proper big meal both are delicious and tasty., and lovely staff.

We called in tonight for our first visit. It will be the first of many. My husband had an incredible steak, cooked to perfection. I had a small beer battered fish, it was mouthwatering. The food was hot, well presented and it was brought to our table by a friendly, polite young man. I love my desserts and chose the... More

3rd visit, doesn't disappoint. Best steak for a long time, lovely mussels, nice helpful staff. You must try the corn bread sooooo good. Good selection of beers and cider. Good wine list reasonably priced. Not sure about dessert as I am always too full to have one

Three of us ate there on Saturday night, I had the ribs and chilli, the ribs had no flavour and were over cooked, the chilli was ok. My wife had the pulled pork; disgusting, cooked in dark soy sauce and looked like it had been cooked in tar, too salty by far. My daughter had rump steak, requested medium well... More

Did not stay here but visited the pub for lunch whilst en route from Durham to London. It is in a pretty village not too far off the A1M. We had our dog with us and he was able to sit with us under the table in the bar while we enjoyed our lunch. Cheeseburger very tasty and sausage and... More

Ate at The Five Bells yesterday evening, food (haddock/rump steak/pulled pork) were all outstanding. The chips were far and away the best we've ever eaten in a pub (maybe anywhere), and the beer was spot-on too. An added bonus was reasonable prices, so top marks for value too, and very pleasant staff waiting at table: can' t go wrong!

My parents live in the village and the Bells is a very welcoming pub with friendly owners, staff and locals. My husband and I don't exactly look like the rest of the village folk, (tattoos, piercings, Mohican) but we have always been welcomed with open arms. The food is phenomenal and when my whole family are there (over 25 people),... More

We were going to a wedding at beautiful Stubton Hall nearby, the Five Bells was only a 2 min car ride away and half the price of staying at the venue. It was a brief stay but fantastic room (enormous!) with lovely bathroom, spotlessly clean and really nice touches such as tissues and yummy biscuits. Breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked... More

A 20 minute walk from the lovely caravan club site (CL) we were staying on in Claypole. Service is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The portions are very generous and the food is good quality. The pulled pork chilli was quite spicy and the minted mushy peas is very sweet but other than that it was excellent.... More
