Detailed Reviews
We booked this break to celebrate my son's 18th birthday and our party was a mixture of family and friends.
Pros : the lodge was very clean and the welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and a bottle of Prosecco was fab!. The kitchen is very well appointed with fridge, freezer and even a washing machine. Hot tub with a view of the lake is a definite selling point and would be absolutely stunning in the summer months. We found the Restaurant on site, although offering a limited menu, served tasty food and we ate there twice.
Cons: Our 3 bedroom lodge was advertised as suitable for 8 adults. We did not find that this was the case. One double bedroom, 2 x twin rooms with small beds and a sofa bed in the lounge for the additional 2 people. While in theory that adds up to 8 people I would not recommend this. The dining table seats 6 people snuggly and there is an additional kitchen stool (only 1) so that you can eat at the breakfast bar. The comfortable seating consists of 2 sofas which we found only fitted 4 of us. Maybe some soft cushions adding to the large window area or a bean bag would help in this area. This probably wouldn't be so much of an issue in warmer weather as there is some seating outside. The sofa bed needed to be refreshed as during the weekend you sank further and further into it.
However, our biggest disappointment was that on the last night, when our family had left and myself and my husband were to enjoy the last night relaxing on our own, we went to use the hot tub and it had been drained in error a day early.
Guest services confirmed that this was human error as the 'hot tub team' thought we had checked out at 4pm, They believe they misread their check out list and emptied the wrong lodge. Surely our cars outside the lodge and lights on in the lodge should have been a clue we were still there?
We have been offered a refund which equates to what the cost of the hot tub is for a day, This means that we have paid for what we have used on our break, and Away Resorts have offered no compensation at all for what has spoilt our weekend.
We will not be returning.

Thank you for your review, RebeccaBenton. I am glad you chose to celebrate your son's birthday with us and enjoyed the location and welcome pack which came with your accommodation, though I was saddened we did not achieve perfection this time around. We always hope that you'll love every minute of your stay with us however if you do have any issues, especially with your accommodation, we do always ask that you speak to our team in Guest Services. This allows us the opportunity to rectify any issues quickly and enables you to enjoy the remainder of your break away. I understand your disappointment in finding that your hot tub had been emptied earlier than planned. As our Guest Services team explained this was human error by our hot tub team and we, of course, apologise that your final night did not go the way you had planned. Due to this error, our team did process a refund for you of the cost of a hot tub for one day. Whilst we appreciate that this refund can not change the lose of your final night's plans, we had hoped that this would alleviate some of the disappointment you felt, therefore, it is saddening to read that you remain unhappy and have already chosen not to visit us again in the future. If you remain unhappy with how your feedback was handled and the gesture offered we would ask that the lead guest of your booking please e-mail your feedback along with your booking reference number to our team at enquiries@awayresorts.co.uk. From here your feedback will be fully investigated and a member of our team will respond within 7 working days of acknowledgment. We try to improve the experience we are offering our guests with every piece of feedback we receive. Therefore we, once again, thank you for taking the time to provide this to us. We hope that given time you will give us the opportunity to restore your faith in our park and the Customer Care we offer by visiting us again in the future.

Stayed here for two weeks in February, booked a caravan and ended up with a lodge. The lodge itself was spacious and clean with three large bedrooms felt very much like you were staying in a large flat or bungalow. We had a couple of issues during our stay which were quickly and satisfactorily resolved.
We are familiar with the park so the facilities were no great surprise to us, the building work going on was no surprise either as we had found all this out talking to various people in the know but this didn't worry us or spoil are time here, if I had to pick at something I would say the road immediately outside our lodge was a mud track literally. We found the site too big and too commercial for us preferring smaller sites.
All in all a lovely stay in a nice lodge, but would not return Whitecliff and Mersea much quieter and not so busy.

I hadn't read the reviews for Tattershall before we went, but we booked it as it was half way between us & family.
We booked the TriBeCa as on the pictures it looked fab. Even though there was 4 adults & no kids the TriBeCa just caught our eye with its retro diner vibe! The other 2 in our party arrived before us & we got a message to say "hurry up, it's amazing" On getting there, 1st impressions, the TriBeCa was amazing! Looked clean & tidy & nicely presented. However on closer inspection (I am super critical as I clean holiday lodges) a few things let the place down. No frying pan - we'd bought bacon & eggs for breakfast but had nothing to cook our fried eggs in 😞 There was no cereal bowls, only shallow pasta bowls. Considering this was supposed to be family accommodation you'd have thought cereal/desert bowls would have been available. There was only 1 small bag of "free" toiletries & that was in the shower room - good job we'd come prepared! There was a shampoo bottle down the side of the en suite bath left from the previous occupants. Now considering we are in the middle of a pandemic, the standard of cleaning should be at a premium & extra precautions taken. Had the floor around the bath been washed, this would have been found. The shower trap had to be removed to let the water soak away whilst you were showering. On removing this, the trap looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks!
When it came to the beds, the master bedroom had no mattress protector or cover on & the springs were very prominent making for an uncomfy night. The next morning the mattress was turned over & was much better.
There was no fire procedure, no welcome brochure with emergency contacts & information. Luckily we didn't need them, but these should still have been there,. Maybe they had been removed due to Covid & cross contamination, but surely these important documents should have been replaced with laminated copies that could be wiped?
All of the above issue wouldn't put us off staying again. We didn't eat in the restaurants so can't give a review on those.
The guys thoroughly enjoyed the wake boarding & a special thank you must go to Dan 😃

Booked for my husbands 50th Birthday as a treat and really needed to get away with things how they are at the moment. 6 of us 5 adults and 1 child. (Same household by the way as grown up children)
Arrived on a sweltering hot day, after 5 hours in the car to find that our luxury accommodation had no water!! We couldn’t have a drink and even more worrying, in the middle of a Pandemic, couldn’t even wash our hands . Totally unexceptable !!! I called guest services and was told that it was strange as our neighbouring lodges also had no water. So now you had a vast number of people, in the middle of a pandemic and scorching heat who couldn’t sanitise properly !! I asked that as we were a 20 min walk away from the main part of the site ( another major problem) that someone bring us up some water so we could at least have a drink and wash our hands . Time went by and nothing. Called them again. Was told that the water had been turned off due to a maintenance issue !! Why oh why are you giving people their keys when the property has issues? Asked for water again. Again nothing arrived. Walked the 20 mins in scorching heat with very poor signage to guest services. There was a total lack of understanding on the urgency of the issue to be honest. Requested water again which they gave me . Probably to ‘shut me up !!!’ Whilst this was going on we also had very loud fighter jets flying over. I know that this is mentioned in the site info, But it is really played down. They are amazingly loud to the point where you can’t hold a conversation and the accommodation shudders. There was no let up time wise. Early morning and very late at night . Our first experience of the restaurant was that although the staff were very polite and the food was ok, their printer broke down in the kitchen causing a lengthy delay but they didn’t let us know until we chased up our food. Be honest with your customers and let them know if there’s a problem. I’m glad I booked a few activities a couple of weeks before for my daughter. Everything had to be booked in an app due to the current climate. Staff were telling visitors to go and book their activities when they knew full well all activities were sold out for up to 2 weeks ahead !!!! It’s totally wrong. People were having to obtain entertainment passes to the main complex where they could only really go to the arcade and bar, as there was nothing they could book to do. The park was packed, in the shop which was a small space, none of the staff were wearing masks. I feel the company have been very greedy and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was not a pandemic disaster waiting to happen. They should have reduced their bookings at this time to give people more space and the staff more opportunity to follow guidelines effectively.

Response from Greg L, Other at Tattershall Lakes Country Park
Responded 17 Aug 2020
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, hayesholiday. I am, of course, disappointed to read that you felt your recent break with us at Tattershall Lakes was only worth one star. Our team works hard to offer every guest the best experience for their break and so it is always disappointing when any of our guests leave feeling disappointed with any aspect of their break. Arriving at your accommodation with no water is not what we would expect and I can only apologise that your request for water was not dealt with sooner. We do have a policy on the park were guests do need to have a valid facilities pass to be able to access any facilities, this policy allows us to make sure these amenities are reserved for guests who have booked to stay with us. Any accommodation booked through Away Resorts comes with a facilities pass included within the cost. If booked privately, a facilities pass does need to be purchased separately. Unfortunately, the shop on site is run by a 3rd party so we do not have any control over the staff here. We are taking the current situation very seriously and are working on reduced capacity to ensure the safety of all our guests. It is disappointing that you feel that this is not the case. Once again, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take all feedback very seriously.

We arrived on Friday for a holiday with friends after booking a caravan for 5 people. I had heard really good reports about this place and we were really excited.
We were met by friendly members of staff in masks who gave us our key and directed us to our caravan.
The caravan had a covid seal on the door so show it had been cleaned to covid standards.
I removed to seal to find the interior was filthy with blood on the table, dirt and stains on the carpet and sofa. The fridge had not been cleaned & the floor had not been swept or mopped. The mop was in the cupboard and was dry. There was dirt on the tv that looked like a dog had wiped it’s nose on it. There was even a napkin that had been left behind.
I reported the issues and when inspected by the cleaners they deemed it unfit for habitation.
The cleaners were very apologetic and directed me back to reception.
I was told that there was no other accommodation to move to so our options was a refund or a safari tent. We had not brought clothing for a camping holiday so the tent was not an option.
I asked for a refund and compensation for travel, fuel & wasted time to be told that they would only refund the price of the accommodation.
I had paid for water sports which we had to claim back through the independent company.
We were all very upset and thought that we had to make the long journey home again.
A very friendly member of staff from reception then told us there had been a cancellation and we were given the key to another caravan.
We were delighted and headed there to find this one very clean. The sofa in the living room was damaged and you sank into it when you sat down.
The remotes for the DVD player was missing and no batteries in the tv remote.
I contacted reception using the app and Dan the handyman came within 30 minutes and sorted the tv & DVD out.
We used the outdoor pool facilities where I had been emailed strict covid instruction which we stuck to.
On arrival at the pool there were no covid rules in place and it was very over crowded.
I have to say that the people who work for this company are a credit to them and we’re very friendly.
What let’s it down is the hygiene. If you have concerns of pandemic safety do not go and the place is far too busy to keep on top of everything. The wearing of masks was not enforced and I didn’t see anybody cleaning the tables and chairs.
If you are looking forward to sitting in the advertised beach don’t get excited as it is a mud bath.
The aqua inflatable course is brilliant and the aircraft that flies over is spectacular.
It’s a real shame that the caravans are in poor condition because the site is very beautiful.
I wouldn’t recommend a holiday here and we won’t be returning.

On arrival , the staff to the park were courteous and helpful , we have been impressed throughout the stay, even though we booked through an agency for a private let.
The owner had clearly not read the same paperwork as us about changes due to COVID 19 as all cushions and coverings were still in place. Whilst the bathrooms were spotless , I cannot say the same for the rest of the property.
Perhaps we have been used to having value for money from all our previous lets and that is why we are so underwhelmed .
No appliances had any accompanying instruction booklets , the WIFI that was advertised was poor and intermittent and no access to the internet - something my grandchildren needed to continue with their school work! It only worked if we kept the television on as well. The TV in the master bedroom would not work. There were no locks that worked on any bathroom door, some doors wouldn`t even shut properly. The heating was still set to come on at what seemed like 24 hours a day. Only enough crockery for 7/8 people and only if you washed them by hand mostly as to use them during the day and putting in the dishwasher meant no crockery!! No plug or bowl in the kitchen sink - poor storage, tired kitchen units. Lack of nonslip covering around the hot tub. No instructions on the use of the hot tub which was set at 41 C and as a result we had to wait 24 hours for it to cool enough to use. Missing drawer in the freezer which had seen better days and needed defrosting. Thin cheap towels , thankfully due to Covid 19 we had brought our own. We were so glad we could supplement items lacking with things we had in our camper van otherwise it would have been a very miserable week. In conclusion , I feel for all those hopeful families following us who paid a lot of money that they can see past the property failings in a time when we all need something positive. This is the first time I have ever posted a negative review so feel very sad. Owners you need to stay in your property and then refurbish it to expected standards to justify the prices you expect.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, robertmarian64. Unfortunately as your accommodation was not booked directly through Tattershall Lakes or Away Resorts we cannot comment on the state of your accommodation. Absolutely disgusted with our recent family stay, having heard such good things about the park we were really looking forward to coming, even more so with the cost of the accommodation we expected good things. Unfortunately within moments arriving at our lodge we were severely disappointed, it was absolutely disgusting, clearly not been cleaned Tea stains on cupboards, beans against the microwave, empty pizza box on the wardrobe, broken crisps on the floor, windows that don’t fit the frames and have large gaps and snot on the bed sheets. Phoning up to complain about this was a complete waste of time as family traveling 2 hours to get there we go told we can send some cleaners to “check” the lodge or you can have a refund and go home when multiple people had booked was extremely disappointing. we asked for alternative accommodation but was told all lodges were full.... (reduced capacity I’m sure was mentioned). The cleaners eventually came after about 2 hours. Even the cleaner who stayed over and above her shift agreed this is not what it should look like. This completely unacceptable during non Covid times but the risk that this put on my family during a time when we need to be extra vigilant is truly disgusting and they should be ashamed.
I would like to tell you the trip got better but unfortunately the park was far too busy and social distancing became a joke. Our hot tub that is meant to be cleaned every day wasnt and started to grow a swap thing until we had to phone yet again for someone to come out.
All in all a truly traumatic event that when you are spending thousands of pounds and leaving a days before you are meant to speaks volumes. They aren’t lodges they’re glorified static caravans.
I would honestly avoid this because they don’t care if you have a complaint and don’t follow up with you when you do.

We stayed on the woodland retreat for 6 nights.
Prior to setting off the night before we had a courtesy call telling us the pitches are all good to go but the walking areas are quite mud dyad so to bring wellies.
On arrival the touring manager Mark greeted us and showed us two pitches we could choose from.
The pitches where well spaced out and of a good size.
We where situated near to the shower and toilet block. These each have their own toilet, sink, shower and towel radiator inside. Clean and tidy. Cleaned numerous times through the day. A mop and bucket was left for you to clean after yourselves.
The woodland retreat itself is not to far away from all amenities, tho a little dark when waking back later on the night it was a brilliant place to stay and at a fraction of the cost of what we would had paid if we hired a caravan.
Mark came to check on us daily and genuinely seemed interested in our plans and experience.
We will definitely be coming back to the woodland retreat.
Thank you.

We have just returned from an amazing weekend break @ Tattershall Lakes. We booked in an indulgent lakeside lodge with hot tub and we’re allocated The Fairways No 10!
Check in was straight forward and quick. The lodge itself was huge, a double and two twin bedrooms, massive open plan living area with an addictional “utility” room with toilet and washing machine! The decking and hot tub overlooked the lake and was so peaceful! Feeding the duck family every morning was one of the kids fave things to do! One thing I would suggest is coat hooks, something so simple and easy to add would make a massive difference!
We had a welcome pack on arrival which was a lovely surprise, this included bottle of red wine, bottle of sparkling apple, tea bags, small jar of coffee, small bag of sugar, biscuits and Lindt chocolates!
TOP TIP… I had read on previous reviews there isn’t many supermarkets nearby. There is a coop within 15 mins drive however I booked an Asda delivery! Absolute game changer. Away resorts don’t allocate lodge until day of arrival so I just added this into Asda notes and the driver rung me just before he came. No issues at all, delivered straight to caravan door!
My daughter and husband did High ropes on Saturday with Ash and Ross! They were both brilliant, so friendly and encouraging when my daughter felt a little nervous! Brilliant fun for the kids and big kids.
We visited Lincoln and Skegness, both approx 40/45 mins drive away!
If your coming with kids who like mine are American sweets mad, there is a little sweet shop in Tattershall village that stocks any sweets you can imagine!
On one of the nights my little boy was sick, I contacted guest services and they arranged for the soiled bedding to be collected and replaced with a clean linen pack! No issues, execellent service!
The park itself is massive, we were about a 15 min walk to main facilities, this didn’t bother us at all. The lodge was in a peaceful location and meant we didn’t get a lot of passing traffic. Yes it is next to RAF Connisby, the planes are very loud but as quick as they come over they’ve gone. Didn’t effect us at all!
We didn’t use the evening entertainment, but did use The Spitfire before travelling home for breakfast! It was of a good standard and freshly cooked!
All in all a fantastic weekend, so much so that on checking out I have rebooked for November. I’ll bring my own dressing gowns as they would have been useful for after the hot tub; and will also bring own towels as the ones provided are tiny!
Thankyou Away Resorts for a weekend of family memories! We can’t wait to come back!

I have just returned home from a lovely week away. From the start it was a great experience. We got our key from a contactless check in team which was very quick and a professional process so a well done to the guest services team. When I got to my accommodation it was very clean and welcoming which was cleaned by Lorna and Sarah the best part was how excited my son was saying how amazing everything was! so thank you to them. We forgot our towels but we was told to ring guest services and I spoke to a lady called Donna and she was very helpful and sorted my problem very quickly and professionally so now I can use the hot tub and go swimming which I had booked for us and my children. The booking process was so easy for swimming and outdoor lido was amazing and my whole family felt at ease with the way the life guards and sports and leisure conducted themselves so big thank you for that. We also went into the spitfire bar and again the covid guidance was followed by the staff and we felt very safe as a family and the food was very good and reasonably priced, we was served by a young man but we didn't get his name but he was polite and a credit to away resorts so well done to him as well. So over all our holiday experience at tattershall lakes as been a 5 star and we will be definitely be back thank you away resorts.
