Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My mother was recently admitted to the ICU in Hillingdon Hospital with a very serious and sudden illness. My father and I do not live in London (he lives in Canada and I live in Southampton) and we picked The Red Lion Hotel as it was within walking distance to the hospital and had immediate availability. It was a choice made at random from a google search but we could not have made a better decision. My mother’s condition was very uncertain and over the next 3 weeks there were many ups and downs. Every few days my father was due to check out and had to ask the front desk if he could stay a couple more. I shuttled back and forth between London and Southampton, sometimes on my own and sometimes with 2 small children, booking rooms last minute each time as updates came in from the doctor. Through all of this the entire staff were incredibly kind and compassionate, and more than accommodating of our constantly changing plans. They went above and beyond to make a very difficult time as easy as possible, especially for my father who was so far from home. The proximity to the Red Lion Pub was an added bonus, after long afternoons/evenings spent visiting the ICU we did not need to think about where to find something to eat, the pub was right next door with excellent food and service. I highly recommend a stay at the Red Lion Hotel, whether for family holidays (the very large family room with bunk beds was a big hit with the 2 and 5 year olds) or for visits to in-patients at Hillingdon Hospital. My sincerest thank you to the entire staff.

Had an enjoyable stay. We had a meal in the restaurant which was really nice. Just like to thank Dan who worked on evening Reception. Dan was always on hand to help and advise. He had a fabulous kind, welcoming attitude. Breakfasts were good and tasty.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay at the hotel, with breakfast one morning and dinner on the second evening. Hotel is well situated with bus stop close by, along with a takeaway and convenience store. Bedrooms are well furnished with comfortable beds, a laptop safe, ironing facilities, trouser press, good hairdryer, complimentary water and artisan coffees and cookies. Good quality toiletries provided and the room was serviced daily. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was of good quality, cooked to order with plenty of choice. Dinner was excellent with a creative and delicious menu. All staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in the Uxbridge area. Only small negative was the lack of power points beside the beds and ideally I would have liked an individual pot of coffee with breakfast as opposed to having to ask for a refill.

Beware van drivers. Had £15,000 worth of tools stolen out of my van on a stay here. 3 other vans done on the same night. Not safe for workers with vans. The carpark is open and no details were taken of the van

Response from James Red, General Manager at The Red Lion Hotel
Responded 3 Oct 2023
Hi Lizzie Many thanks for sharing your feedback. It was good to chat to you regarding this matter and can assure you that the Hotel is taking the van break-ins very seriously and we are investing in security features to hopefully put a stop to it. I am sincerely sorry that the van was targeted and will help the police out with CCTV as and when they contact us. Kind regards James

Went for a meal and a pint or two of the lovely Fullers Ale range. Service first class, friendly and respectful. Food well cooked and presented and tasty. Would have given 5 were it not a little spoilt by being made to feel very uncomfortable by a lady wiping down our table while we were still there, complaining about the mess and the spillages (which we couldn't see) leading us to say defensively ^it wasn't us" to be met by a scowl. No need for it. And marred an otherwise God experience.

A beautiful building, tastefully decorated with low noise air conditioning in room which was very clean and very comfortable. Shower pressure amazing! Premium tea and coffee in room. Breakfast was tasty but portions were stingy. Kept having to ask for more tea and coffee - was poured half a cup each time. Avocado with egg on sourdough was a child's portion and there was one solitary mushroom served with 2 small overcooked poached eggs on the other breakfast. A real shame. The triple cooked chips served in the bar at lunch however, were best ever.

Check-In was fine, we booked an Executive Double, but were given a Family Room, which was fine. The room was well appointed with plenty of space, tea and coffee facilities, fridge with complimentary water and milk. King size bed was comfortable, large TV, desk, chairs and air conditioning, bathroom was small but ample for one night. Parking was fine, although we were told that parking can be a challenge during busy periods. Breakfast service was good as was the menu choice and quality of the food. The bar staff were also friendly, good beer and food. This was our first stay, and will be our first choice when were visiting the area, which we do several times a year - Indeed we have already booked 2 nights in December!

Stayed here with friends when going to see Blur at Wembley so great location in terms of access to trains/tube for that. Fantastic hotel, food and beer is great and reasonably priced. Rooms are of a high quality. One down side is the car parking is a little tight when busy.

Great hotel. Simply and clean. Lots of little extras courtesy of the hotel in our room. For example, there were fantastic artisan coffees - all free! All this for a fair price. Also, for a hotel next to a main road, our room was so quiet and peaceful. Even the view outside was green and pleasant alongside a few rooftops, of course. The liquid soaps were honey and lemongrass. Really lovely. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
