A lunch meal for birthday celebration. Importantly the food was well cooked. Dishes were thought out and ample range for varying tastes. Service was attentive and there was no feeling of being rushed. The hotel has a lovely setting on the edge of the new forest for the great outdoors.

5 of us went for a friends birthday and all had the tasting menu. Every course was fabulous except the main which was lamb and we all agreed it was tough to cut and chewy. Such a shame as it was all going so well. 4 of us had the pairing wines which went well with the courses and gave...

Friends organised lunch with us at TerraVina. The service was attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was informal yet stylish, and the meal had great balance of tastes and variety. All in all it was a memorable lunch and we would happily dine there often if we lived in the vicinity. I was concerned about dietary restrictions experienced by my wife...

We selected the Hotel TerraVina based on its excellent ratings from Trip Advisor (my 'go to' source of information...) and enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay. The hotel and setting is excellent, the service also excellent other than a couple of minor lapses that were put right quickly (but hence the 4 rather than 5 - all the staff are...

I've visited TerraVina a number of times over the years for some great meals but yesterday's romantic lunch was just a bit... so so. Don't get me wrong the setting was as charming as ever, the staff were relaxed and very welcoming, but the food was just a bit underwhelming. My wife and I shared a starter of salmon and...

We got married in this very special and intimate hotel on 6 May last year, and had always intended to come back to dine and stay over to celebrate our first anniversary. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming; our room (Canteiro, no. 5) was airy and spacious, with a huge comfy bed and a beautiful large bathroom with an...

This hotel lived up to previous recommendations. From the moment we walked in the door we were looked after with brilliant service. Nothing was too much trouble. When one in our party started to move a chair from a distant location he was immediately intercepted by one of the staff who insisted that it was her responsibility. We started with...

We took advantage of their special midweek offer and had a lovely meal and overnight stay. This is the second time we have stayed over and again the room was lovely and welcoming. The food, as usual was delicious and I particularly liked the starter with goats cheese and beetroot and horseradish sorbet. Wine of course was excellent! This is...

This hotel is by far our favourite place to spend a break just the wife and I. The Hotel room has everything you need from a gloriously comfy bed to a roll top bath and walk in shower. We have stayed in numerous rooms however we did love room 7 (name escapes me but has vin in title) the Roll...

I booked a night at Hotel Terravina with dinner for my other half's birthday. We stayed in Solera downstairs on the ground floor. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a walk in shower and a roll top bath and was very well appointed. Particularly good was having real milk in the mini bar...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel TerraVina is a multi-award winning, boutique Hotel and California style restaurant in the New Forest, near Southampton and is the vision of Gerard Basset OBE, co-founder of Hotel du Vin, and his wife Nina. With a relaxed, informal style, when first opened the hotel was voted "one of the best new places to stay in the world" by Condé Nast Traveller magazine and has been featured on TV and in the national press on many occasions. Under the watchful eye of Head Chef Gavin Barnes we serve a range of seasonal dishes, with local ingredients, with an excellent reputation for our vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options too. We are the perfect option for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea, and why not try our ever changing Taster Menu, or simply join us for a delicious breakfast. Wine is very much at the heart of Hotel TerraVina - Gerard is a Master of Wine, Master Sommelier with an MBA and is also the current World Champion Sommelier. Whether you're a wine lover, or you’re interested in learning more, we’re always delighted to share our knowledge and passion. For those who enjoy peaceful seclusion in a boutique, beautifully appointed bedroom with or without your own private terrace, an outdoor, heated swimming pool in spring and summer, great wines, wonderful, locally sourced food and warm and friendly service with a laid back feel - we look forward to welcoming you to Hotel TerraVina. ... more   less
