Great hotel, superb rooms and amazing food (The steak was wonderful) and delicious full English breakfast! Cosy, warm atmosphere with candlelight and wood burning fires. Superb farm shop nearby (in walking distance). Already want to be back at The Black Lion in Little Walsingham.

Stayed for one night when going to Thursford Christmas Show. Arrived early but staff were extremely friendly and offered to put our bags in our room when it was available because we wanted to visit nearby Holt before heading off to the show. When we arrived back we were extremely satisfied with our room. We had room 2 which was...

This is a good place to spend a cold, rainy day by the open fire - eating well-cooked, simple locally-sourced food and good drinks. Waitress (US methinks) very/over enthusiastic. We had hot mackerel and mussels a la mariniere for starters and roast lamb and salmon for mains. Worth a detour

Arrived at the hotel which I learned is situated in Little Walsingham which I learned was a holy pilgrimage site.(Hence the title of my review) Took me 20 minutes to find a parking spot, parking is a big problem. Upon entering the pub was impressed by the bar area and its atmospheric ambience of the property. Showed to my first...

What a great find ! A lovely quaint hotel in a beautiful little village with very attentive and polite staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It is very dog friendly and offers an excellent choice of meals. The pan fried sea bass was divine. Really enjoyed returning to the hotel to sit by the log fire after a day...

We have just returned from a long weekend spent at The Black Lion Hotel. Our room (No 5) was a lovely light, airy and contained every convenience we required. Dan and the team ensured that we were made very welcome, nothing was too much trouble at all. The breakfast was excellent and very good quality. This was our first stay...

We have just stayed for two nights at the Black Lion Hotel, accompanied by our globe-trotting dog Mabel. We were given a very warm welcome by the hotel manager Danny and we really liked our room, which had a wealth of period features, and was well designed, spotlessly clean and cosy. Tea/coffee-making facilities were excellent and Mabel was thrilled to...

A 700 year old coaching inn with seven en-suite bedrooms, several with original medieval feature walls and windows. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine and is based on what local seasonal ingredients are available from the farmers and fishermen. There is all day tapas and light snacks and during the winter they serve a sit in or takeaway "soup kitchen" menu. A la carte is available lunch and dinner. The bar serves several local cask ales and ciders, the usual selection of lagers, spirits and wines and has a good top shelf of Scotch and Whiskey. ... more   less
