The Control Tower on the former RAF North Creake Airfield is a unique vegetarian B&B. Its history is fascinating - originally built in 1943 to command 199 and 171 Squadrons take-offs and landings. These were part of The 100 Group of Bomber Command and their mission was to carry out secret radio counter measures. The Tower has had many uses since then, now it is transformed into a special place to stay in the bustling agricultural hamlet of Egmere, just 3 miles south of Wells-next-the-Sea. After three years, our labour of love is complete. The exterior has been returned to its iconic landmark modernist look and we have filled the interior with beautiful art deco fixtures and furniture to ensure your stay will be comfortable and relaxing.

I celebrated a big birthday at the Control Tower, booking out all the rooms for a family takeover. I simply can't fault the place - the location is wonderful, the rooms are truly beautiful, you are made to feel at home the moment you walk in the door. Breakfast was amazing enough with homegrown fruit and thoughtfully sourced ingredients but then Claire created a 3-course vegan buffet for our Saturday night celebration which even the die-hard meat-eaters were raving about. My entire family, ranging in age from 9 to 79 had a magical weekend, nothing was too much trouble for Claire and Nigel, I can't recommend them highly enough. My husband and I will certainly be returning for a quiet break at some point.

The Control Tower is an amazing place to stay! It has been wonderfully restored and the attention to detail is outstanding . Booked as a birthday surprise, this was our first time staying and we will most definitely be returning in the future. We stayed in the Signals room - a spacious and very comfortable room with period features throughout. Breakfast was cooked to perfection, using local produce, fruits from the garden and delicious homemade preserves. Before leaving we were able to go on one of Nigel's history tours of The Control Tower; we were treated to a very interesting talk all about the history of RAF North Creake and the important role that it took during WW2. We concluded with a tour of the tower. It was a joy to listen to Nigel's talk, his depth of historical knowledge is just amazing. Claire and Nigel are wonderful hosts, their passion for what they do really shines through. Highly recommend a stay here, you will not be disappointed! Thank you for an amazing stay, we hope to be back soon!…

This gorgeous venue just goes from strength to strength. My wife and I have been staying here for the past nine years to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my birthday. Claire and Nigel are the perfect hosts. You are made welcome as soon as you enter the door with great rooms to choose from with their period fittings and you are fed so well with a fabulous vegetarian breakfast each morning. Well cooked delicious local produce. Really sets you up for the day for local exploring. Sited on the main road to Wells-next-the-Sea just three miles away, it’s the ideal location to explore the local area and indeed North Norfolk with miles of country lanes with their villages and great pubs in most of them. WW2 history buffs will love this place, being on a former RAF bomber base. Claire and Nigel have done extensive digging into the airfield’s short but very distinguished past. A tour is available and can be booked to tell of the history. The local memorial to the crews lost was of Claire and Nigel’s doing and looks fabulous. There is a lovely garden and summer house to enjoy especially after a long day out and about. I cannot recommend this place high enough. How about 6/5…

This is an amazing place that has been on my list of things to do for a while. For a big birthday I asked for a weekend at the Control Tower and it couldn't have been a better present. If you have any interest in military history then this is the ideal place to stay. The attention to detail is phenomenal, the rooms and bathrooms are just beautiful and the home cooked breakfasts are the perfect way to start the day. I will definitely return.

We have stayed at the Control Tower a number of times and it just gets better and better. The first thing that strikes you is the amazing attention to detail of the design with every vintage fixture, fitting and ornament worth examining. The real heart of the CT is Claire and Nigel who ensure that everything is ready and provided to the highest standards. It's a fantastic place which quickly becomes addictive. Have you stayed in all the different rooms yet? We have but we'll still be coming back again

Wonderfully unique, amazingly themed, beautifully run, with attention to detail everywhere. Can’t recommend highly enough this unusual accommodation. Nigel provides interesting local insights to history as well as things to do #cheese vending machine !! Clair provides the most delicious breakfasts and cake upon arrival. The whole building is decorated with blueprints, art deco and furniture all on theme. We will return, we totally recommend and can’t thank you both enough.

The Stirling Suite at The Control Tower is the perfect hideaway for us. It's not far from home yet it feels a million miles away. As ever Claire and Nigel were the perfect hosts from the warm greeting and yummy cake to the superbly, unbeatable breakfasts delivered by Nigel in the coolest cool box you will ever see. Claire does THE BEST poached or scrambled eggs, and her homemade jam and marmalade on sourdough toast is delicious. Beds are comfy, the bath is deep, the sky is vast and where better to cosy up and listen to the wind and rain during an unseasonably miserable start to August? Playing Pass The Pigs in our cosy lounge. I just wish they offered evening meals because I'm sure they'd be awesome!!!

Seven years ago we stayed at the control tower when we got married in Norwich and we’ve been back every year since. It always provides us with the most perfect time away and we love it more each time we visit. We are always welcomed with a smile and a hug and a very gratefully received pot of tea and cake whilst we have a catch up. We always stay in the beautiful Sterling suite and as soon as we walk in our bodies relax and minds switch off from the stresses of daily life. For a room to do this you know you’ve found somewhere special. For a start there’s the comfortable long sofa (which can also fold out into a bed) to sit with the doors open watching the birds flit by outside. Choose a book to read from the full bookcase or a jigsaw or board game. There’s the best bath you will ever experience in the stunning art deco bathroom. The most comfortable bed for your best nights sleep. In the morning Nigel delivers an incredible breakfast (he’s never seen without a cravat or cardigan - the most stylish person ever who will bring you your breakfast!) and the most delicious mushrooms you will ever taste. Everything is sourced locally too. The control tower itself has been lovingly restored by two people with a great passion for keeping history alive and it never disappoints. Do take the control tower tour if you can, it’s a great way to get a real sense of the history of where you are staying. Finally this is the most wonderful place to stay and completely relax and unwind (as we do) or go and explore the plentiful amazing places nearby. A true piece of history that you can feel and soak up. …
