It was our first visit to The Star and our booked table for four was in the bar. The service was faultless, the Landlord and staff were totally welcoming and friendly, a good range of beers and wines, and the food was excellent at good prices. Atmosphere on NYE was really lively and friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable night and a...

Warm, friendly welcome, clean room, comfortable bed, excellent beer and cider. Enjoyable, well prepared food for a good price. Washed down with great Buffys beer and rhubarb cider. Full English breakfast is so filling there is no need for lunch!

We have been coming to this pub for some time, in fact I have been coming to this part of the world since I was a kid. Slightly out of the way but this time we were staying within staggering distance. Friendly staff and very dog friendly. Good selection of ale my favourite being Hardy and Hansons Mild. Gary the...

Went to this bar to keep dry from a down pore after a long walk. Meant to have one drink but made to feel welcome so stayed for a while. Locals had dogs with them who played with my dog no problem. Didn't have food but heard good things

Stayed for three nights. Very good breakfast, friendly owners and cook. Landlady ironed a shirt, which was very kind, helped plan route and in general chatty and friendly. Good value, cosy quiet room where on a clear night you can see the stars. Recommended, will return if in region. Ed from England and Ilse from Austria.

We hasn't booked, but we were fitted in, and we were so pleased! Excellent food, great service in a place full of character. Highly recommended. It's wise to book though in case you aren't as lucky as us!

Lovely fresh fish at a traditional pub out in the middle of nowhere. We visited the Star Inn on the way to the beautiful gardens at East Ruston and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The staff were efficient and friendly and very helpful with directions for our onward journey.

Very friendly, efficient service and food was delicious which was homemade and served hot. If you are looking for a traditional pub then this is for you. The Pub is in middle of no where but well worth a visit.

“I would say The Star is perfect for walkers, dog owners, and ideal if you have family with you as you can then take the entire stable. Wheelchair access may be an issue due to size, but reduced mobility would be fine as all on the ground level.”
